WELCOME TO THE NEW OAKS
Welcome to The New Oaks for this afternoon’s Premier Sports Southern Combination League Division One fixture against Dorking Wanderers B.
We extend a warm welcome to the players, officials and management of today’s visitors, and hope they enjoy our hospitality before, during and after the game this afternoon.
The Oaks will be looking to carry momentum from the last fortnight which has seen them score eleven goals in two big wins.
On the back of a big win away at Banstead Athletic, the Oaks took on Montpelier Villa looking to avoid an upset - and a professional and clinical performance saw them make it back-to-back wins.
Jake Lindsey - fresh from a hattrick at Banstead - scored twice inside the first ten minutes to set the Oaks on their way, with further goals from Archie Carey and Connor Martin sealing a 4-1 win.
Dorking Wanderers B come into today’s game sitting in second spot - five points better off than Uckfield but having played a game more.
After back-to-back 4-3 losses to Seaford Town and East Preston, Wanderers have bounced back to win their last five league matches - including a 4-1 win at Alfold last weekend.
Oliver Rawlins scored twice, with Luke Bejashvili and Neo Wooster completing the scoring at Alfold Rec.
Our Under 23s had their match at home against Eastbourne Town Wednesday night postponed - but they return to action this Wednesday when they entertain Broadbridge Heath. Kick off is 7.30pm and your support would be very welcome!
The Ladies side bowed out of the SCWGFL League Cup against Burgess Hill Town last weekend, but they will be hoping to bounce back when they face Ringmer AFC tomorrow in SCWGFL Divison One action. Kick off is 2pm here at The Oaks.
We return to action on Tuesday night when we travel to face Little Common in the Peter Bentley Cup. Enjoy today’s game, and get behind the lads!

BILLY WOOD
WELCOME TO A NEW ERA AT AFC UCKFIELD TOWN
Welcome to The Oaks for another SCFL Division One fixture as we welcome the manager, staff and players of Dorking Wanderers B.
Having a B side in this division for me has both positive and negatives to it.
There’s no denying the access to players means it gives the young lads coming through at the club senior football experience, one of the reasons we used to consider such an approach at Hastings United for years.
You get to keep them in your environment rather that dual registering them and naturally Dorking have for the last few years finished third, helping develop the winning mentality for players but you have to ask, is this really a challenge point for some of those players or a hinderence in their development?
We have been in good form in the league, losing just once in eight games, and I hold my hands up against East Preston I for it tactically wrong. Ryan Warwick has settled in well with the squad and
when I look at the depth here we are truly happy with our options as we have another busy week of three games in eight days.
Our expectations haven’t changed coming in here, we would like to finish as high up the table as possible, and looking to put us in the hunt for playoffs when we swing round to April.
Depending on our opponents today, you may be able to get into them if you finish sixth, if this B squad get into the top five.
But right now we focus on things, one game at a time, brick by brick. We go into today’s game with positivity and look to give our growing fan base something to cheer today.
Tomorrow we have the Under 18s and Women’s team playing up The Oaks. 11am and 2:30pm Kick Offs, your support would be hugely appreciated.

AFC Uckfield Town made it back-to-back wins in Southern Combination League Division One after a comfortable win over Montpelier Villa at The Oaks.
On the back of a 7-2 win away at Banstead Athletic, things were looking good once again for Billy Wood’s side when debutant Ryan Warwick teed up Jake Lindsey who made no mistake after five minutes.
Connor Martin then played through Lindsey, who produced a calm finish for his fifth goal in two games.
At 2-0 after ten minutes, things settled down before Montpelier Villa halved the deficit in style - with Harry Pratt’s wonder-strike giving Harry Howes no chance.
With the scorline at 2-1, the visitors’ task wasn’t helped when Josh Whitter saw red - and Uckfield made the most of their numerical advantage.
Skipper Archie Carey rose highest to meet a corner and score his first goal of the campaign to settle a

NLP COLUMN THE LATEST COLUMN FROM THE NON-LEAGUE PAPER
WHAT’S THAT noise you hear rumbling in the distance? Ah yes, it’s the national media getting ready to start covering the FA Cup from the first round proper.
No Non-League footballer’s day job is safe from being shoehorned into any report in a bid to save the romance of the FA Cup.
Of course, if you’re reading this you know the FA Cup kicked off back in August and the magic has been well and truly alive ever since.
And while, yes, the first round proper is drawing ever nearer, the fourth round qualifying round as thrown up some mouth-watering ties.
We’ve said for quite a few years now how this stage of the competition – and even those before it considering the size of some Step 2 clubs – almost has a first round feel in itself.
Biggleswade v York City jumps off the page in a northern section of the draw packed with big names with the likes of Scarborough Athletic hosting Chester and Oldham Athletic taking on FC Halifax Town.
Will it be a Bigg weekend in Bedfordshire?
Biggleswade Town are still in the hat with their postponed replay against Alfreton Town due now scheduled for Tuesday after a midweek washout. The winners host Spennymoor Town.
Hednesford Town are a big Non-League name now under the charge of another big Non-League name in Steve King. The Step 4 side entered right at the very start in the extra preliminary round and, thanks to a 1-0 win over Shifnal Town on Tuesday, will now host Step 1 Gateshead.
And how about Step 5 Bury fresh from their win at National League North Radcliffe at the weekend? They travel to Harborough Town who are looking to create their own history by reaching the first round for the first time.
In the southern section of the draw we’re waiting to see whether Bishops Cleeve can add Chesham United to their scalps in the rearranged replay on Tuesday
with Yeovil Town awaiting the winners.
Suffolk side Leiston beat Hornchurch in extra time on Tuesday to set-up a home date with National League Dagenham & Redbridge, while Chertsey Town host Sutton United.
Horsham enjoyed a fairytale run last season, drawing 3-3 with Barnsley before losing the replay and then being reinstated after the Tykes were found to have played an ineligible player.
They welcome Step 4 Gorleston, who have just dumped out St Albans City. The last time they reached the first round was in the 1957-58 season! IF they get there, surely that’s worth a piece in the papers…

Our Director of Football, Jordan Clark, as well as our Head of Elite Youth Development, Richard King, oversee our pathway.
As the club strives to develop first team players, our Future Wanderers are provided with a supportive environment and high calibre coaching.
As testament to their hard work, players have been awarded with scholarships and first team contracts in past seasons.
