Welcome to the 2025 Flat season at Ascot.
We will host 18 fixtures once again this year, including the industry-owned QIPCO British Champions Day which will become the first British raceday to host five Group 1 races after the upgrade of the QIPCO British Champions Long Distance Cup.
It is also exciting that there will be a new £250,000 juvenile race, over six-furlongs, open to all two-yearolds and to be run without penalties. Combined with the Long Distance Cup increasing in value to £500,000, the total value of the day will be a record £4.35m in 2025.
Across the 17 other Flat racedays we will be offering £15m in prize money with the highlight being the £1.5 million King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, the richest race ever staged at Ascot. It will also be a ‘Run for Free’ contest with all entry fees refunded to those that run.
The King George has officially been one of the top four races in the world in four of the last six years and continues to be Britain’s midsummer middle distance showpiece.
Last year we welcomed 12 of the horses in the Longines World’s Best Racehorses Top 16 to Ascot (including ties) headlined by King George winner Goliath as well as fellow French star Calandagan.
Royal Ascot will be run for £10 million once again with the Prince of Wales’s Stakes and Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes worth £1 million each and no race run for less than £110,000. We have removed the early closing entry requirements for the four non-juvenile Group 2 races, making it easier for connections to make plans.
Royal Ascot Trials Day presented by Eventmasters gets the Flat season underway here on 30th April. For the first time the winners of the Longines Sagaro Stakes, eventmasters.co.uk Commonwealth Cup Trial and eventmasters.co.uk Paradise Stakes will gain a wildcard entry to the equivalent races at Royal Ascot if they are not already engaged.
We are looking forward to another exciting and high-quality Flat season at Ascot.
Yours sincerely,
Nick Smith LVO Director of Racing & Public Affairs

Royal Ascot Trials Day provides the perfect opportunity for horses being prepared for the Royal Meeting in June. The seven-race card has four specific trials and in recent years the day has produced several horses that have gone on to win or be placed at Royal Ascot.
For the first time this year, the winners of the Group 3 eventmasters.co.uk
Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes, the Group 3 Longines Sagaro Stakes and the Listed eventmasters.co.uk Paradise Stakes, will be offered a wild card entry into the respective Royal Ascot contests if not already engaged at the initial stage.
The Commonwealth Cup Trial, registered as the Pavilion Stakes, has been won by the likes of Limato, Blue Point, Calyx and Rohaan in recent years and is often a key pointer to the Commonwealth Cup itself, run on the Friday of Royal Ascot. Bradsell also finished third in the race in 2023 before going on to win the King Charles III Stakes.
The Sagaro Stakes, won by Coltrane for the last two years and also Stradivarius in 2021, is a designated Gold Cup trial while the Paradise Stakes often produces Queen Anne protagonists, including Docklands and Maljoom, second and third in both races last year.
The Royal Ascot Two-Year-Old Trial EBF Conditions Stakes is once again FREE TO ENTER and will provide complimentary entry to the winner for one of the six twoyear-old races at Royal Ascot. In 2021 Chipotle demonstrated the benefit of course experience by winning this race and then the Windsor Castle Stakes.
Total prize money on the day will be £315,000 with the two Group 3 contests worth £80,000 and the Paradise Stakes worth £60,000. The Darley British EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes is worth £40,000 and continues to form part of the High Value Maiden and Novice programme promoted and supported by the BHA and Darley.

In conjunction with our Official Trophies and Silverware Supplier, Garrard, owners of all Group 1 winners at Royal Ascot will be presented trophies to keep, along with the Royal Hunt Cup and the Queen’s Vase. If you have been awarded a perpetual trophy, commissioning a replica from Garrard is the perfect way to ensure your victory will always be remembered. Whether you are looking for a smaller, scaled-down version or a life-size replica, Garrard can preserve your winning moment for eternity with an exact reproduction of an original trophy.
