From Addiction to Freedom in Christ
By Timothy Cho,* ASAP Field Supervisor
Wai Than* had been a Buddhist all his life and deeply loved alcohol. He was hostile toward Christian worship and mocked the idea of God. ASAP church planter David Pyae* visited his uncle’s house one day. Drunk and angry, Wai Than challenged him, saying, “What kind of a god is your God? What can He do? How can He save anyone?”
When David invited him to church, he refused, saying, “If your God is real, He should show me proof.” That night, Wai Than had a dream where he heard a voice say, “My son, why don’t you believe in Me? Go to church.” When he woke up, he was shaken. So, when David invited him again, he decided to go, even though he was still drinking.
As he kept attending, he slowly came to know the living God. He joined Bible classes to prepare for
baptism but struggled with his addiction. Even after being baptized, he couldn’t stop drinking right away. For over a month, he battled his habit, but through prayer and God’s grace, he experienced real transformation. He cried out to God for strength and was finally set free.

Where is the Mission Field?
By Darryl Hosford, ASAP President
I recently read a statement that made me stop and think: “Today, Europe and North America are mission fields just as much as other parts of the world.”
Yes, every place has spiritual needs—but not every place has the same access to the gospel. In the U.S., churches are on nearly every corner. Bibles are easy to find. Christian resources are everywhere. But in the 10/40 window—stretching across North Africa, the Middle East, and much of Asia—millions of people living in unreached people groups live and die without ever hearing the name of Jesus.
Despite this, worldwide mission resources are overwhelmingly sent to already-reached areas. Out of every dollar given to worldwide missions, only half a cent of every dollar is donated to missions in the 10/40 window. For every 100 missionaries sent, just four go to the unreached in the 10/40 window where more than half of the world’s population lives.
Think about that. Millions upon millions of people live in spiritual darkness, fear, and misery, longing for hope but never hearing the gospel—not even once.

This is why ASAP Ministries is passionate about sharing the gospel in Southeast Asia, reaching those who might otherwise never hear the good news of God’s love for them.
If your life was like a match and you only had one, where would you strike it? In a place already filled with light—or in a place still waiting for it?
For His glory,
