CELEBRATE 60 YEARS OF ARTSWESTCHESTER!

Founded in 1965 by visionary private citizens and dedicated elected officials, ArtsWestchester has grown from modest beginnings into New York State’s largest private nonprofit arts council. 60 years later, it stands as a national leader in championing creativity and advocating for public support of the arts.

ArtsWestchester works to ensure the arts are integral to and integrated into every facet of life in our communities. To meet this charge, ArtsWestchester provides grants and professional development opportunities for organizations and individual artists, advocates for public support of the arts, builds audiences through diverse marketing initiatives, and provides transformative community-based cultural programming. The organization’s leadership elevates a vibrant creative ecosystem that generates more than $182 million in economic impact for Westchester County.

Today, through its partnerships with Westchester County Government, New York State, and the New York State Council on the Arts, ArtsWestchester is the major funder of the arts in Westchester and Rockland Counties awarding more than $2 million grants annually to artists and arts organizations.

ArtsWestchester aspires to enrich the lives of everyone in the communities we serve.

Thank you for celebrating our 60th anniversary with us!

FROM THE CEO

Dear Friends of ArtsWestchester:

For 60 years, ArtsWestchester has been a champion for the arts throughout Westchester, working to ensure that our communities have opportunities to experience the power of music, art, dance and the written word. Thank you for joining us tonight to celebrate this milestone birthday and to honor Montefiore Einstein, our foremost corporate partner. Their leadership reminds us that when businesses, individuals and institutions stand with the arts, we all thrive.

ArtsWestchester supports some 170 organizations and a growing network of artists across Westchester and Rockland Counties, bolstering a vibrant arts ecosystem through grantmaking, professional development, advocacy, audience development and dynamic programming. As we enter our newest chapter, we remain steadfast in our commitment to protecting artistic expression and investing in creative initiatives that elevate and celebrate the many voices of our region.

We are deeply grateful to our partners in government: Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, the Westchester County Board of Legislators, the New York State Senate and Assembly, and our federal representatives. Their advocacy and allyship sustain the arts in our communities. To our Board of Directors, our corporate sponsors and every supporter here tonight: thank you. You fuel creativity.

Since 1965, we’ve been making the arts happen. That legacy is powerful, but at this unique moment for our sector, it is also fragile. With your ongoing partnership, we will ensure that the arts continue to transform lives, strengthen communities and inspire hope.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Reckling (photo credit: Stefan Radtke)

FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Friends:

As the late, great Robert Redford once said, “Art is a healing force.” Music and art can be transformative, helping us to navigate difficult times and celebrate life’s beauty and milestones. This year’s benefit concert features the talent of singer-songwriter and SUNY Purchase alumna Regina Spektor, whose voice and music transport us to another place.

At a time when arts funding is more uncertain than ever, the simple act of gathering tonight carries deep meaning. We come together to celebrate the joy of music and art, to honor creative expression, and to lift the voices that make Westchester’s cultural landscape so rich.

Tonight, we honor Montefiore Einstein, a steadfast corporate partner whose commitment to the arts has strengthened our entire community.

Thank you for your support of ArtsWestchester as it celebrates its 60th anniversary – and thank you for sharing your love of the arts tonight and in the coming years.

With appreciation,

Board President, ArtsWestchester

ARTSWESTCHESTER IS PROUD TO HONOR

Montefiore Einstein is an exemplary leader in recognizing the arts in community well-being and comprehensive healthcare. Their unwavering support of ArtsWestchester and the broader cultural landscape of Westchester County reflects a deep commitment to healing that extends beyond medicine.

For the past four years, Montefiore Einstein has proudly served as ArtsWestchester’s foremost corporate partner, setting the standard for transformative corporate arts philanthropy. Since 2023, Montefiore Einstein has elevated the region’s cultural vibrancy as the Presenting Sponsor of JazzFest White Plains, a five-day celebration of worldclass music that brings GRAMMY® Award-winning artists, acclaimed performers, and rising stars to the heart of Westchester.

Montefiore Einstein’s dedication to cultural inclusion continues through its role as Presenting Sponsor of Westchester Roots, a dynamic series of educational family festivals that honor the rich tapestry of music, dance, and culinary traditions across the county. Their support also extends to beloved institutions like Jazz Forum Arts and Lyndhurst, ensuring that the arts remain accessible and thriving throughout the region.

Montefiore Einstein exemplifies how healthcare institutions can lead with heart, vision, and creativity by making the arts an integral part of community health.

Our vibrant partnership with Montefiore Einstein underscores a powerful truth: music and art-making are not just joyful expressions— they’re essential to the health and the vitality of our communities.”

Phylisha Villanueva, Opening reception for Open Call + Poetry Reading, ArtsWestchester (photo credit: Susan Nagib)

This poem was written by Phylisha Villanueva, Poet Laureate of Westchester, on the occasion of honoring Montefiore Einstein for their support of the arts and dedication to the community, at ArtsWestchester’s 60th Anniversary Benefit Concert.

The Rhythm and Remedy

Phylisha Villanueva

The rhythm and remedy of touch, of smiles and hearts within a hospital room.

The goal is to heal— to see beyond what is visible.

In the breath between pulse and purpose, pain becomes possibility.

Possibility becomes the art of imagination, the art of joy, the art of community. Kindness catches lives, and together, we flourish.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Regina Spektor is synonymous with New York City. A Purchase College Alum, we are proud to have her back at her alma mater to perform a special concert to benefit ArtsWestchester.

The acclaimed singer, songwriter and pianist got her own sign on the Bronx Walk of Fame, as well as “Regina Spektor Day,” (June 11, 2019) proclaimed by Mayor Bill DeBlasio.

The Grammy® Award nominee first saw commercial success with the RIAA Platinum-certified LP, Begin to Hope, which includes the singles “On the Radio,” “Better” and “Samson,” as well as “Fidelity,” which climbed the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Spektor’s fifth album, Far (2009), and sixth album, What We Saw From the Cheap Seats (2012), both debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Spektor has performed at The White House as well as on Broadway, “Saturday Night Live” and contributed to many projects spanning film and television, including the Grammy-nominated theme song for “Orange Is The New Black”.
