ArtPrize Seven is a celebration of color and neighborhood. We have given each of the seven neighborhoods their own exuberant palette that captures their unique personalities. As you travel from neighborhood to neighborhood, we encourage you to pay attention to color. Not just the hue, but the conceptual question what colors your view?
When you like a piece of art, what is it that you are responding to? Is it the formal qualities like composition, or is it the content? Before you read an artist description are you able to discern their intent? Was it to capture beauty? Highlight an injustice? Shock the viewer? When the jurors top choices are announced, think about what colors their view. Do you agree or disagree with them? What are they seeing in the work? The wonderful thing about art and ArtPrize is that everyone’s view is valid. Enjoy the dialogue.
