WHO'S WHO

Sheena O. Murray as Actor

Sheena O. Murray is a vocalist, songwriter, and actress currently based in Florida. Born in Jamaica, she moved to the U.S. at a young age, during the time when R&B was searing the airwaves heavily and leaving little drops of musical fire into her soul. Her fondest musical memory as a child was listening to Whitney Houston and wanting to "sing like her".

Xaire Goodrige as Actor

Xaire, a versatile artist originally from Nottingham, England. With a background in acting, poetry, and music, he's been captivating audiences for over a decade with his powerful performances and poignant storytelling.With his passion, creativity, and artistry, Xaire continues to push the boundaries of his craft, leaving a lasting impact wherever his talents lead him.

Denzel McCausland as Actor

Born and raised in Miami, Denzel is an actor and FAU grad with a BA in Theatre. Most recent credits include M in Lungs (NCP,) Shepard Mallory in Ben Butler (BocaStage,) Bass in Merchants of Venice (APP,) Lincoln in Topdog/ Underdog (MSP) and Happiness in of Thoughts of a Colored Man (Roxy Reg.) Denzel is honored to work with Darius and Art Prevails Project once again.

David H. Hepburn as Actor

David H.Hepburn is a cast member of Just The Funny Theater and Training Center.H e was one of the founding members of Miami’s premiere African American Musical Improv Teamk The Black Improv Alliance. He has a background in Visual Arts and Film including education at The Cooper Union for The Advancement of Arts and Sciences. He brings his cinematic vision to bare always.

SheKendra Parrish as Actor

SheKendra Parrish, a Fort Lauderdale native and a recent graduate from FAU where she received her BFA in theatre performance. Her performance credits include Violet, Polaroid Stories, A Chorus Line, 9 to 5, La Paloma stage reading, Of House and Home Stage Reading. SheKendra is so grateful for the opportunity to work with Art Prevails Project.

Isadelle Mercedes as Actor

Na’Zyia Williams is a 17-year-old actress from Ft. Lauderdale. She has performed at Dillard High School: The Color Purple and Carrie: The Musical. She also performed the titular role in FLCT’s production of Cinderella. Na’Zyia has long held a special love for the arts; being a part of this cast with other talented artists has rendered her overwhelmingly grateful.

Isaac Simmons as Actor

Isaac is humbled and enthused to join Darius Daughtry in this production! As one of Carol City’s finest actors and jolliest comedians, Isaac has blessed audiences with his brand of acting and comedy since 16. What was once a faraway dream in the form of a humble hobby, has become a driving motivator to do the thing much better than before, that thing being comedy itself!

Jazz Patterson as Actor

Jazz Patterson is thrilled to be back at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.Jazz is a stage and screen actor, writer, director, photographer, and tennis athlete based in SouthFlorida. He received his BA in Multimedia and Acting (minor) from Florida Atlantic University,where he appeared in Crumbs from the Table of Joy and No Child.

Aviel del Rosario as Actor/Musician

Aviel is a multi-instrumentalist and graduate of the illustrious Dillard Center for the Arts. His incredible ear and flair for connecting emotion with melody has made him a sought after musician in South Florida. Aviel is excited to be a part of his fifth Art Prevails Project production and thanks his family for all of their support.

Shanna L. Woods Choreographer

Shanna L Woods is the sweetest mango with a dash of ghost pepper. Shanna is a dance artist, choreographer, rehearsal director, educator, mother and creator from Delray Beach by way of Memphis. Shanna has performed nationally and internationally, but her dance experiences began in her mother’s womb; the backyard bbqs and family reunions were the original dance space.

Yamille Mercedes Stage Manager

Yamille Mercedes is a lightning bolt of energy and has graced the stage as an Actress, Dancer, Singer, Narrator, Host and Moderator. Yamille brings exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail from her background as an executive assistant. Known for her reliability and problem-solving abilities, Yamille is dedicated to supporting creative visions

AGuy Smith Costume Designer

AGuy Smith has been a South Florida fashion scene fixture for years. Her sold out shows quickly grew a strong following, which led to her focusing on fashion events full-time. Outside of fashion show productions, she is a highly respected fashion stylist, working with established designers to new and emerging designers from around globe.

This production aims to fill some of the spaces that exist in the lives and souls of our community members.

The hope is that you experience this with an open mind and heart

Theatre is a communal art. Artist and audience need each other. I am grateful that you are embarking upon this journey together.

We do not pretend to have all of the answers. We only hope that we can help shine light on some of the questions.

I am thankful for the aritsts that trust me enough to embark upon these journeys with me. I am eternally gratefully.

Arts For Action: Black Voices is a Broward Center initiative focusing on how the arts and artists can be a force for change in addressing critical issues of social justice and racial inequality. The program features a variety of multi-disciplinary discussions, performances, and art-making events, virtually and in-person, culminating in a free outdoor arts festival in Esplanade Park.
