Art is ever-evolving, blending past influences with contemporary vision. This season, a vibrant mix of colors, textures, and expressions defines the creative landscape.
The warmth of "Popcorn" yellow sets the tone, echoed in abstract expressionism where emotion and movement take precedence. Young Park reinterprets portraiture with a modern edge, while pastel tones soften the intensity, offering a delicate counterpoint. From the poetic rooftops of Paris to Laurence Jenk’s playful candy sculptures, each work invites new perspectives.
Art intersects with culture—through sunglasses as symbols of identity or rhythmic dots shaping new visual dialogues. Preston M. Smith’s dynamic compositions pulse with color, while Isabelle Pelletane merges abstraction with the written word, layering meaning into her canvases. Even the sea, with its yachts and sailboats, inspires dreams of freedom and escape.
Amid these dialogues, a new generation emerges, pushing boundaries and redefining expression. This selection is an invitation to explore, feel, and engage with art in its endless reinvention.
Happy reading!

ARTIST PORTRAIT
Faces. Shapes. Colors. A modest triptych encapsulating the extraordinary creativity of Young Park, a South Korean artist based in Hanam-si, east of Seoul.
At just 44 years old, this talented painter has undergone numerous artistic transformations. From a young age, drawing was the focal point of her humble universe. Driven by her passion for creativity, she later ventured into the fashion industry, where she crafted advertisements that drew her closer to commercial art. This intersection of work and artistic practice naturally evolved her hobby into a full-fledged profession.
To create her portraits, which are both minimalist and vibrant, Young Park primarily draws from her own experiences, infusing them with elements from her immediate surroundings:
“My works are inspired by all facets of my existence, by joyful moments and memories that weave through the fabric of my life. Everything originates from within me. I sketch emotions and spontaneous images, capturing excerpts from my observations of photos, videos, and films, and I create forms by juxtaposing the emotional whirlwind of everyday life with discarded imagery.”
Her paintings, crafted entirely in acrylics, are arranged like mental collages that only she can masterfully assemble, creating a unique formula that transforms them into complete works:
“I collect a variety of materials and jot down themes, words, phrases, and poems on the canvas, infused with the emotions of the moment. By merging these elements, I transform the landscapes, characters, and still lifes I cherish into collages that reveal my intentions. Through deconstructing and recombining the overall sketch, I employ a spectrum of colors to convey ambiguous imagery.”

Airbrush Artist & Self-taught Artist 2024 Selected as one of the “100 Most Notable artists of the World”
Since I was a child, I have loved drawing, looking at pictures, and exploring pop colors. When I was in high school, I drew my teacher’s face as a character on vegetables and fruits, and everyone around me smiled. This experience made me want to become an artist who could make my drawings known to people all over the world and give them energy.

ARTIST PORTRAIT
Laurence JENK is a French sculptor and painter born in 1965, whose Pop perspective has mainly developed by following the flow of memories, tending to analyze personal passions and interests that have come to life through a figurative investigation, developed through a purely selftaught approach. The artist's popularity is linked to how she has managed to transform the simple memory of a candy into a Pop slogan, brought to life in the form of paintings and sculptures of various sizes and
materials, including plexiglass, polyester, bronze, aluminum, marble, and Murano glass. The recurrence of this subject has transformed the candy into JENK's artistic signature, which can also be interpreted as a language capable of reflecting both an intimate reflection and a cultural process, rather than being merely a medium. The artist has unearthed, from her childhood memories, the old obsession she had for candy, which, even on a universal level, could be interpreted as a kind of symbol
of ultimate childhood sweetness. However, this joyful and childlike vision is juxtaposed with another somewhat suffering one, which seems to simulate the action of twisting one's neck to turn one's back on all the bad memories buried in our past, by twisting the candy wrapper. But confectionery also offers other avenues of reflection, as the artist states that she often associates them with social, environmental, and animal dramas. These forms of denunciation are realized through the
creation of various types of candy, including those from the series Wrapping Bonbon, Wrapping Twist, and Ice Candy. In Wrapping Bonbon, JENK demonstrates that, after long practice, she has mastered the plastic material plexiglass, working it to simulate a realistic wrapper that, if we imagine tasting the "fruit," can urge us to exorcise the demons of our childhood. Wrapping Twist is
the continuation of this reflection, but it is the twist, taken to the extreme, that is the undisputed protagonist of the work, as the candy, now revealed in its packaging, offers the almost melancholic vision of a solitary and poetic wrapper, crumpled on the ground. Ice Candy, a series of works created in 2015, interprets the aforementioned subject by exploiting the transparency of
materials, capable of creating interesting lighting effects that take shape within sculptures skillfully carved from plexiglass, a polished material then sculpted to achieve a finish close to glass. JENK's candies also become paintings, using the aforementioned sculptures as models, which are skillfully interpreted and arranged on the canvas to capture new symbolic cultural references.

Preston M. Smith studied Fine Arts and Theatre Arts at Gonzaga University (Washington, USA), where, upon completing his studies, he was able to refine his training through the Kreielsheimer Assistantship. During this program, Smith worked for a year “alongside his painting professor and mentor at the university.” This experience reinforced a longheld belief of the painter, who, since childhood, has affirmed that there is no other path for him but art.
The painter Preston—distinct from the writer, singer, and actor—needs inspiration from the world of dreams, visual arts, music, cinema, literature, and more to remain productive. Constantly stimulating his creativity, he transforms it into tangible work by forcing action in the studio. Smith, who has never feared artistic blocks, experiments with nu-
merous different techniques, including unconventional tools and found objects, keeping his imagination constantly engaged and driving him to continually explore new ways of applying paint.
The subjects he has created cover a wide range of themes, leading, in his latest experimental phase, to the development of highly structured, “tactile,” and colorful abstract works. These are often composed of found objects that the artist assembles into a sort of painting-sculpture. Abstraction allows the painter to “capture emotions and reflect on the human condition,” as for Preston, it seems “important to share his experience as honestly and unfiltered as possible.”
Smith’s work, conceived in a studio whose blue walls radiate great energy, has been ex-
hibited alongside David Lynch and at the Inaugural Purple Ball for President Obama’s inauguration in 2009. His successful exhibitions in the United States have led to equally significant achievements: he was one of the winners of the Artslant ArtPrize Showcase, and his work—previously exhibited at the renowned La Luz De Jesus Gallery—is now part of the prestigious Art in Embassies program of the U.S. government.
Furthermore, Preston’s art has been the subject of a documentary titled Negativity To Creativity, which has been featured in more than 500 verified collections across twenty-five countries, as well as in the collections of celebrities such as Ed Harris, Ashley Judd, Patricia Arquette, and others.

Isabelle Pelletane paints in series: bouquets of flowers, more naïve and pop-inspired flowers, as well as interwoven calligraphies. In every case, the instinctive nature of her painting prevails: brushstrokes are vivid and spontaneous, allowing drips to spread across the canvas, a sign of the physical engagement the artist puts into her work.
This work, positioned between abstract expressionism and urban art, is also distinguished by its palette, which the artist deliberately chooses to be
harmonious and, whenever possible, joyful.
“The canvas is like a garden, where I sow seeds of color—a blank territory in which I cultivate new creations, guided by my inspirations.
I love how acrylic flows, glides, traces, splashes, and transforms into another substance. It’s a true cultural melting pot, sparks of life, a space of freedom. With each creation, I remain just as amazed by what can be achieved with colors. It’s fascinating!”
Born nearly fifty years ago in the Paris region (France), Isabelle Pelletane grew up in the Landes forest before settling in Poitiers. After studying psychology, she explored various creative techniques as a self-taught artist before dedicating herself to painting in 1992.
