The work of Artisans Bespoke Jewellers is synonymous with unique storytelling through coloured Gemstones and Diamonds. Infusing symbolic elements in nature with precious metal artistry, Tammy wished to create a necklace that would challenge her team and become the hero of our entire spring collection.
Inspired by our signature Bubble Collection and iconic Garden of Flowers Ring that was custom made for a special client, floral clusters of brightly coloured gemstones weave throughout this magical necklace. Majestic butterflies dance and intertwine with the colourful garden, conveying precious symbols of transformation, hope and peace.
Our most remarkable Borboleta Necklace, testament to the design and technical abilities of the Artisans Bespoke Jewellers Team, is a wonderment of natural coloured gemstones and jewellery manufacturing. Magical diamond encrusted Butterflies float amongst boldly coloured gemstones of fancy. Sapphire, Spinel, Garnet and Tanzanite create glorious clusters of colour, a delicious and original feast for the eyes. A soiree of scrollwork and Art Deco highlights abound Borboleta.
The Borboleta collection expanded to include Drop Earrings. The Borboleta Earrings feature a cascading cluster of bodacious colour. An extraordinary combination of eleven coloured gemstones featuring Spinels, Sapphires and Garnets brilliantly flowing towards the delicate Butterflies perched playfully at the bottom.
As each element of the necklace came together, excitement within the Workshop also grew. However, our showstopper still remained without a name.
In a moment of true serendipity, it was Tammy’s little boy Charlie who went on to name this Collection as he was learning Portuguese.
“Borboleta” he exclaimed as he pointed to a painting of a Butterfly on the wall at home. Intrigued, Tammy asked, “What is Borboleta, my darling boy?”
“Butterfly, Mummy”, accompanied by a smile that lit up the whole world.
Through the eyes of a child, we named our collection ‘Borboleta’.
kaleidoscope of coloured gems. Forming a striking cluster around one side of the pear Mandarin Garnet is a fun and vibrant array of gemstones including Spinels, Sapphires, Garnets and Diamonds. White Gold delicately highlight this beautiful cluster, symbolising precious butterfly wings.
In true Artisans Style, the delight does not stop there! Turn the Borboleta Ring upside down to find the sweetest Butterfly residing underneath. Miniature delights in precious metal bringing the utmost of joy to the wearer and those appreciative of fine jewellery artistry alike.
Cindy found being very open with Tammy about her emotions and what the ring represented made the design process very easy. “I think this ring really came about, in design by being completely honest with my feelings. I was pouring all my grief into my garden which was lovely. Where some may see the sad closure of a marriage, I saw this as a fabulous and a happy joyous beginning of something new. Together we were on the same page, and she understood me.”
A choice was made to remodel seven rings along with some old jewellery, remove the diamonds and create something new. Inspired by the love of her garden, coloured gemstones such as Hot Pink Spinels, Ceylon Sapphires, Tsavorite Garnets were added and featured a mixture of yellow and white gold.
"It was truly an honour for the Artisans team to be commissioned to design and handmake something special to celebrate the life's work of Dimity Dornan (AO), who is the Founder and Executive Director of Hear and Say. Hear and Say are the world-leading experts in hearing, listening and spoken language therapy.
We were inspired by the Hear and Say logo and incorporated the butterfly and brand colours into her bespoke transitional Pendant/Brooch piece. The butterfly symbolises transformation and hope, which is what Dimity has achieved for many lives whom she has changed greatly.
Her piece was crafted in 18ct White Gold with Blue Ceylon Sapphires of different tones and Diamonds set in the butterfly’s body and wings. On the reverse of the pendant/brooch is the Hear & Say Logo in Rose Gold along with an accent feature on the chain in the shape of a paper scroll with ’30 Yrs’ hand engraved." - Tammy Keers
Influenced by the Rene Lalique’s Dragonfly Corsage (circa 1897-98), our Jeweller Kathy designed and handmade the Dragonfly Lady in 18ct Yellow Gold. Taking 80 hours to carve in wax with painstaking attention to detail, and another 40 to complete and set the gemstones, the intricacies within this piece are truly a sight to behold.
Set with Purple and Green Sapphires and highlighted with Diamonds, this unique piece can be worn as a pendant or as a brooch with double pins positioned at the back.
The Dragonfly Lady has been designed with a bionic head, a female torso, scorpion legs and the tremendous articulated wings of a dragonfly.
"This piece took 2 weeks to design and manufacture and it was such a joy to see my vision come to life. It was a labour of love and one that I hope to see passed on from from generation to generation to admire." - Kathy
Our signature Bubble designs were inspired by the combination of various diamonds and gemstones from our clients' collection that are transformed into one new piece.

Falling leaves of Autumn was the inspiration Tammy drew from for this collection. A step back in time to a childhood memory, walking through Botanical Gardens with Family. When designing the Valencia Earrings, elegance in movement was of the essence.
"Reminiscent of dancing the Salsa, the earrings would shimmy and swing as they adorn,” Tammy enthused, a note of radiance in her voice. “I truly believe the confidence of a woman amplifies when wearing drop earrings. The way she carries herself is imperative to my design process - my muse and I are one when I create.”

Often described as “The Jewel of Fraser Island”, Lake McKenzie is the picturesque inspiration for our McKenzie Collection.

Sometimes a gemstone comes along that will completely take the breath away of even the most experienced Jewellery Team. One such stone, a 2.28ct colour change Alexandrite did this very thing! Rare and highly sought after, this Alexandrite became a severe case of love at first sight when presented to the Artisans Team
With a gemstone exhibiting such size and natural phenomenon as a colour change Alexandrite, Tammy and Hazel set about designing the perfect ring.
In sketching over twenty versions, favouring the bold use of 18ct Rose Gold and Platinum, they both agreed on ‘the one’. This ring would call on the legendary expertise and patience of Jeweller Kathy, clocking over fifty hours on her bench to hand make.
Our Master of Gemstone Setting Alex, spent a further 20 hours hours meticulously setting over 1.62ct of fancy shaped Cadillac, Bullet Cut and Round Brilliant Diamonds. An impressive ring exuding strength and confidence, meet “Tsarina” –named after a female ruler.
"A gemstone of such radiant beauty utterly mesmerised me from the get-go..."
- Tammy Keers
It was love at first sight when Tammy came across the 6.73ct Emerald Cut Mint Tourmaline at the centre of our Valerie Ring. “A gemstone of such radiant beauty utterly mesmerised me from the get-go, I knew exactly the geometric and bold design I wished to showcase to compliment this extraordinarily coloured gemstone.”
From the Latin word ‘Valere’ meaning “to be strong”, the name Valerie was born. Valerie’s Mint Tourmaline is flanked by 1.06ct of exquisitely positioned Baguette Diamonds. The distinct White Gold end caps on each of the Baguette Diamonds symbolise the stepping stones and the journey to brilliance.

Artisans Bespoke Jewellers support a family business who own and operate a Sapphire mine in Rubyvale, Queensland and proudly cut all of their product direct from the rough onsite. The mines tunnels follow the natural deposits of Sapphires below a creek bed. Australian Sapphires can be found along the east coast, from north Queensland to north-east Tasmania and vary from a dark navy all the way to Parti Sapphires (bi-colour) with two or three tones of blue, yellow and/or green.
Pink Sapphires range in colour from a pale 'baby' pink to a vivid hot pink that complements White and Rose Gold perfectly. Pink Sapphires are known to symbolise loyalty, trust and sincerity. They are specifically made up of the mineral corundum that is coloured by trace elements of chromium - this is how they get their beautiful and unique colours. Pink Sapphires can be found in Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and East Africa.
Lovers of Pink Sapphire Engagement Rings include Princess Eugenie and Lady Gaga.
Ceylon Blue Sapphires range in colour from a very pale blue to a rich royal blue. Ceylon Blue Sapphires have been considered a symbol of loyalty, power and wisdom and Medieval Kings believed the stones would protect them from those who seek to do harm. Ceylon Blue Sapphires can be found in Sri Lanka, Kashmir, Burma and Madagascar.
One of the world's most famous Ceylon Blue Sapphires is Princess Diana's/Kate Middleton's Oval 12ct Engagement Ring, which has been a significant piece in the Royal Family.
Every diamond is unique. Each reflects the story of its arduous journey from deep inside the earth to a cherished object of adornment. A diamond is a testament of endurance and strength – and not surprising one of the ultimate symbols of love.
At Artisans Bespoke Jewellers, we refer to the 6Cs - Colour, Cut, Clarity, Carat, Care & Confidence
The colour scale for diamonds extends from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow or brown). Colour grades are determined by comparing each diamond to a master set. Although many people think of diamonds as colourless, truly colourless diamonds are actually very rare. Most diamonds used in jewellery are nearly colourless with tints of yellow or brown.
A Diamond cut ranges from excellent to poor. A polished diamond’s beauty lies in its complex relationship with light: how light strikes the surface, how much enters the diamond and how, and in what form light returns to the eye.
The Diamond Clarity scale includes 11 grades from Flawless to I3. Because diamonds form under tremendous heat and pressure, it is extremely rare to find a diamond that lacks any internal and external characteristics. These characteristics are a by-product of its formation and help gemologists separate natural diamonds from synthetic and simulants and identify individual stones.
One carat equals 200 milligrams in weight. For diamonds under one carat, each carat is divided into 100 points –similar to cents in a dollar. 0.75ct equals 75 points, 0.50ct equals 50 points and so on.
We help build confidence by taking the time to carefully provide a diamond education to our clients. We stand by the fact that each of our diamonds are natural and ethically sourced. Just like each diamond is unique, each person has their own unique taste and preferences and we are here to guide you through the process.

We recommend removing jewellery before going to bed or activities such as the gym, doing renovations, sport, gardening, household cleaning etc. Some gemstones and metals can be affected by certain chemicals and enviroments such as hand sanitiser, perfumes, hair products, cosmetics, cleaning agents, chlorine, salt water and perspiration. Please contact us if you have any questions about caring for your piece.
Pour a small amount of mild soap or dish washing detergent into lukewarm water and use a small, soft toothbrush to clean your jewellery. Clean underneath the settings and gemstones. If the dirt is hard to remove, soak your jewellery in water first, before brushing off the debris and rinsing your piece under clear running water.
We recommend storing jewellery individually in a protective box, pouch or plastic zip lock bag in order to prevent your pieces from scratches.
All jewellery will wear overtime. Depending on the degree and frequency of use, it is recommended that your jewellery be inspected at least once a year by a jeweller. In particular, it is important that claws, clasps, mounts, soldering and settings are checked and cleaned to see if any stones/gems are loose or metal is worn.
Only our Ready-to-wear jewellery collection can be exchanged for other items (or a 12-month instore credit note can be issued) within 7 days of your purchase, provided the item was bought from our floor stock and is returned in the same condition as when you bought it. Special order or Custom Made items cannot be returned or exchanged. We do not provide refunds on our ready-to-wear jewellery collection.

Jewellery Valuations provided for our bespoke pieces are done independently to avoid bias. A valuation is your proof of ownership in case your piece is lost or stolen and is vital to have for insurance purposes. We recommended keeping a digital copy and having it re-valued yearly.
Jewellery insurance gives peace of mind and protects your investment. We recommend QREPORT for jewellery-specific insurance.
