"Kellie's team is the absolute best in the business. Their creations are stunning and a must for any wedding. They arrived early to set up for my wedding and created my dream floral vision. Don't hire anyone else if you want the most stunning flowers"

"We were truly BLOWN AWAY when we walked into the [reception] for the first time. The flowers were SO spectacular, they took my breath away. Thank you so much to your team for a truly fantastic setup, everything was even better than I could have ever imagined. And the twinkle lights were stunning. Prettiest wedding flowers I've ever seen".

A HUMBLE START

When Kellie Jackstien was a student at the University of Utah, she paid her way through school by working several part-time jobs, one of which was designing arrangements in a local floral shop. "I liked flowers and loved design and the floral shop was a creative environment for me - I gravitated towards it" she says.

After graduating from the University of Utah with Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Kellie was faced with choosing whether or not to pursue graduate school or follow her budding interest in design. Choosing to pursue her passion for both flowers and design, Kellie applied for a business license, opening Artisan Bloom in October 2000.

It wasn't an easy start. "I began with nothing. No capital, no investors, no staff, no formal office space and no real leads. Nine months after opening Artisan Bloom, the country was devastated by 9/11. While we were navigating through this new fear of 'terror alerts' and 'travel advisories' the travel and tourism industry took a tremendous hit. For a company whose primary market was destination weddings and corporate events, that uphill climb became even more challenging" says Jackstien. "However, through hard work, persistence, and an amazing network of coordinators and venues who believed in the brand, Artisan Bloom not only survived, but has thrived.

THE BEGINNING

Kellie created Artisan Bloom in the Fall of 2000 after graduating from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science and her eyes set on Law School. She worked at local flower shops throughout her undergraduate years and when the time came to pursue graduate work, she couldn't leave her love for design and her life with flowers behind.

She launched Artisan Bloom with no capital, no storefront, and no clients. She made up for that with drive, motivation, hard work, and the desire to create weddings inspired by nature but elevated in timeless and sophisticated ways.

BUILDING A DREAM

During Artisan Bloom's first year of business, they completed 10 weddings designed by Kellie and 1 part-time contracted assistant. Though the growth of Artisan Bloom has been sure and steady, they have quickly risen through the ranks in the wedding industry. Their work has been featured in multiple major print magazines and online publications making Artisan Bloom one of the nationally recognized influences in the world of weddings.

Through growth and the implementation of an intelligent workflow, Kellie was able to successfully scale her company while maintaining the integrity of the Artisan Bloom brand. By 2022, they were averaging over 300 weddings and events a year with 9 full-time employees and over 75 contracted designers. Artisan Bloom experienced a gross sales increase of 120% from 2021, and executed our favorite and most inspiring desings to date.

"Absolutely stunning work!

Kellie created the floral arrangements for our son's destination wedding and reception on July 2nd at the St. Regis Deer Valley. I saw the ballroom prior to the installation; Kellie completely TRANSFORMED the venue into an incredibly romantic and lush fairy tale scene!

Kellie is by far the most creative and pulled off the most gorgeous and intimatefeeling reception we've seen. She was a delight to work with. We were on a budget, and Kellie hit it spot-on while making our event feel grand, gorgeous, and over the top!

We are very grateful to have worked with Kellie and Artisan Bloom!"

The year 2020 - Covid-19 hits

In early 2020, Kellie was faced with the choice of laying off the entire team, preserving her remaining capital, and waiting until the world normalized OR assume the financial risk of keeping her employees employed and attempting to create a new revenue source. It was a frighting prospect, to say the least.

With a new, beautiful studio waiting to be filled with flowers and talented designers anxious to create, the Artisan Bloom team brainstormed, googled Shopify coding, designed, developed, and shot content.

With Herculean effort from the Artisan Bloom team, we developed an online shop featuring gorgeous, luxe floral designs worthy of gifting just in time for Mother's Day. We sold out of every design within hours! It was so exciting, but we knew the online shop wasn't enough to be a long-term solution because of the uncertainty of the timeframe of when events would resume. And truly, our hearts were tied to weddings.

the United States and within mere weeks, the event industry is decimated

Everything is elevated. From our bloom selection and color stories, to our signature branded wraps and beautiful wax-seal enclosure cards. We want gifting to be an experience. We carefully curate seasonal collections, incorporating the most beautiful blooms. Everything we source is local, whether it's from local farms or supporting local wholesalers

In the summer of 2020, Michelle Leo Events approached Kellie and asked if she had any interest in partnering on a new offering she was hoping to create for brides wanting to celebrate their wedding in an intimate and safe way during the pandemic. Kellie and her team worked with Michelle Leo to curate a Micro Wedding package that would give brides a luxury experience on a small scale, prioritizing creating safe, covid-friendly events that were elevated to the luxury level associated with their brands. Brides loved the simplicity of the package offering and Kellie and her creative team were able to continue doing what they loved.

Despite massive supply line shortages, bankrupt farms, and labor shortages in 2020 and 2021, Artisan Bloom closed out its 2022 season as its highest-grossing and indisputably most beautiful season to date. We grew our team of artists to a whopping 95 employees and freelancers! We expanded our need for one design space to 3 design spaces. Due to our volume of flowers purchased, Artisan Bloom was invited to attend the Alsmeer Trade Fair in Holland to meet with logistics companies to explore expanding better access to the global floral market resulting in a more diverse option of farms and floral varieties. Our goal was not to cut out local wholesalers but to create a bigger demand for a more diverse product. The result was an entire season of beautiful, diverse blooms grown, imported or brokered ENTIRELY by local companies

This production process has led to significant growth and fantastic, healthy, and inspiring company culture.

OUR CLIENTELE

95% of our clients are destination brides. They're coming to Utah to celebrate an incredibly important day with friends and family.

It's an opportunity for us as designers to enhance the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains. It allows us to design and create events that highlight the magnificance of Utah.

Artisan Bloom brides dream of alpine mountain elegance. Artisan works closely with some of the best venues and planners in the state to transform indoor and outdoor spaces to meet the dreams of their clients searching for that mountain chic experience.

Often bold and powerful color schemes are utilized to compliment the couple themselves. During each part of the day, from ceremony to reception, the mountains-inspired florals are meticulously designed to heighten the 'Wow' factor for their guests to enjoy.

"There's nothing you can replace for those who put their heart and soul into their product and service, and Kellie and her team clearly do. Our families and guests were in awe with the beautiful backdrop you painted with flowers You truly are artisans, and we can't thank you enough."

Yvonner Perrine, Mother of the Bride.

"We hired Kellie and the Artisan Bloom team to conceptualize, design and execute our flower and decor needs for our wedding day, which included an Indian ceremony, Jewish ceremony, and reception at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City Utah. Kellie has incredibly good taste and made smart insightful recommendations, helped us maximize our budget, and of course, produced incredibly beautiful results. I especially appreciated the attention to detail she brought to our faith-based needs such as the Mandap and Chuppah - key pillars to Indian and Jewish ceremonies respectively. I would also add that Kellie has an incredibly great reputation within the wedding industry - every time I mentioned I was working with her to anyone in Park City, including other vendors, they had nothing but positive things to say about her and her team - which is the best testimonial of all. Hire Artisan Bloom. You can't go wrong."
