School Goals
As we move into this upcoming school year, we continue to press forward with developing an academic and social environment that creates critical readers, outstanding writers, and influential communicators, thus making our students believe they are “Unstoppable.” In addition, our school goals include increasing student performance in mathematics and language arts, creating a positive school culture, and developing our staff’s instructional techniques informed by leading research in effective teaching practices. As a staff, we are committed to providing an unmatched educational experience for your child.
State Goals
The Oregon Department of Education is partnering with school districts and local communities to ensure a 90% ontime, four year graduation rate by 2025. To progress toward this goal, the state will prioritize efforts to improve attendance, provide a well-rounded education, invest in implementing culturally responsive practices, and promote continuous improvement to close opportunity and achievement gaps for historically and currently underserved students.
Safe & Welcoming Environment
Our staff's priority is to create a safe and welcoming environment for all our students. This past year, we brought in expert trainers in a program called, Breaking Down The Walls. The program's design is to build empathy in our students and staff. We trained over 200 students and staff to understand the perspectives of others with the central concept that if we knew the story of others, we would interact much differently. This upcoming year, we will be bringing back Homeroom with a strong curriculum from a program called Character Strong.

About Our School
BULLYING, HARASSMENT, AND SAFETY POLICIES

Middle school can be challenging for students as they navigate new environments, friendships, and puberty. As middle school staff, we must provide a hate and bully-free environment. As with all schools, we have a zero-tolerance policy on bullying and harassment. We instruct students throughout the year in homeroom, assemblies, and classroom content on what bullying and harassment are and the devastating effects they have on their victims. Our staff and students are also thoroughly trained in responding to emergencies. A variety of emergency drills are conducted at least once per month. In addition, our school has taken another step in safety and has installed brand new security cameras. Student and staff safety is and will continue to be our top priority.
Extracurricular Activities
We believe at Molalla River Middle School that when students are involved, they achieve. Our school is proud to offer a multitude of opportunities for involvement; these include the following clubs: Art, School Beautification, Dungeon and Dragons, Green Team, Comic Book Creation, Sign Language, Chess, Dodgeball, and Basketball. Our school also offers cross country and track. In addition, football, basketball, and baseball are offered through the community of Molalla.
Parent Engagement
We love our parents and encourage them to get involved. Parents can get involved in our Parent Action Committee (PAC), volunteer at school events such as dances and field trips, be career speakers during career day, and volunteer in our library, lunchtime, or the main office. Parents are also encouraged to attend our sporting events, back-to-school nights, school conferences, and awards assemblies.
Community Engagement
Molalla is a unique community that is tightly bonded. Each year our community comes together to support one another through a fundraiser, Share the Love. Molalla High School spearheads the event to help a family member in need. Our middle school proudly takes part in this effort. With the entire communities support, families in need have received upwards of $125,000. The middle school is looking forward to helping even more than in years past. In addition, our community has gone above and beyond this past summer, donating thousands of dollars to help us provide a safe and welcoming environment.
