...but I can manage if I have people who understand.’

Arthritis affects 10 million people in the UK: from the elderly to 12,000 children and young people.

Arthritis Care exists to support them and work for a society where their needs are recognised and met.

Arthritis Care 2011

We helped thousands of people to manage their pain. Highlight: We ran courses across the country to provide training and information using Arthritis Care volunteers. The result: All over the UK, people with arthritis gained the skills and confidence to work and live better quality lives.

Arthritis Care 2011

We campaigned for the hardest hit in society. Highlight: We initiated the Hardest Hit campaign, a coalition of all major disability charities protesting against government cuts.

The result: Around 6,000 people, many with arthritis, took to the streets in 11 Hardest Hit rallies across the UK, putting pressure on the government to reconsider its approach.

Arthritis Care 2011

We had 70,000 visits a month to our website. Highlight: Our website provides access to our booklets and fact sheets. We also launched an interactive website in Scotland allowing people with arthritis to share experiences.

How your money helped in 2011. Without your support none of our services would be possible. Our approach works: every £1 spent on our courses, for example, produces a social return on investment of £7.25 over five years.
