Si la línea más simple y elemental es el rastro visible del acto mental que consiste en apropiarse de la forma de los objetos que constituyen el mundo del ser humano, un dibujo más o menos complejo es simultáneamente un acto de conocimiento, una forma auténtica de creación y una manera legítima de afirmación y de expresión individual. No importa que el tema sea un desnudo, un rostro, una casa, una máquina, una montaña o unos seres fantásticos y que se resuelva con realismo o fantasía, con poco o mucho detalle, como diseño o como esquema, el dibujo será siempre un producto del intelecto y la imaginación, las facultades más altas del entendimiento. Y si además está hecho con cierto genio y a partir de cierta sensibilidad, como es el caso de Jonathan Ardón, el dibujo resultante será, además, una auténtica obra de arte.
El dibujo y la línea en manos de Jonathan —en la mente, en el corazón de Jonathan—, en efecto, alcanzan niveles conceptuales e imaginativos bastante complejos que lo definen con propiedad como lenguaje y como un agudo instrumento de indagación y expresión de su contexto y de su interioridad. De allí, esas aves dibujadas con un realismo delicado y preciso a las que, sin embargo, la garra afilada y el ojo abismal delatan como simbólicas. O esos rostros imaginarios cuyas líneas casi esquemáticas sedimentadas de desencanto y tristeza nos devuelven un reflejo irónico de nosotros mismos.
If the simplest and most elemental line is the visible sign of a mental act that consists of becoming the owner of the shape of objects that constitute the world of man, a more or less complex pattern is simultaneously an act of knowledge, a real form of creation and a legitimate way of affirmation and individual expression. No matter whether the subject is a nude, a face, a house, a machine, a mountain or fantastic beings, resolved with realism or fantasy, with little or much detail as design or pattern, a drawing will always be a product of the intellect and imagination, the highest power of understanding. And if it is also done with some genius and based on some sensitivity, as in the case of Jonathan Ardón, the resulting drawing will also be a work of art.
Drawings and lines in the hands of Jonathan – in the mind, in the heart of Jonathan - indeed, reach conceptual and imagination levels that are quite complex and that define him properly as language and as a sharp instrument of research and expression of his context and his inner self. Hence, these birds drawn with a delicate and precise realism are, however, through sharp claws and abysmal eye, revealed as symbolic; or those imaginary faces whose almost schematic lines filled with disenchantment and sadness return an ironic reflection of ourselves.

“El dibujo vive en mí, un amor, una forma de vivir que me permite exponerme y ser descubierto sin miedo, para mí el dibujo ya no es una casualidad que desde muy pequeño descubrí.” Jonathan Ardón
El descubrimiento de la capacidad de reproducir una imagen, a la conciencia de que esa capacidad se convierte en un lenguaje propio o tú forma de decir lo que sientes o piensas. Las palabras o pensamientos se convierten en imágenes que ves desde adentro y la línea y el punto son las formas físicas de expresar eso que solo tú ves. Al principio es como un juego sin sentido como algo que te divierte. A medida que pasa el tiempo resulta ser una mezcla de sentimientos donde todo lo que te sucede puede ser expresado en un trozo de papel y tinta. El papel en blanco se convierte en el confidente de lo que te sucede adentro, la línea y el punto se convierten en parte de tu vida y están presentes en el café, en el almuerzo, con los seres que amas, con tu soledad. Te das cuenta que el dibujo dejo de ser una coincidencia en tu vida para convertirlo en algo fundamental de tu existencia. A veces no sabes si estas pensando o dibujando o si piensas antes de dibujar solo sale como hablar, dibujas como las aves vuelan sin darse cuenta que lo hacen, dibujas como las aves cantan sin darte cuenta que lo haces. Antología Grafica, es una selección de experiencias, donde el papel y la línea se convierten en momentos registrados. Un diario, donde las palabras son imágenes donde los poemas no se leen como textos, se leen como trazo, ritmos, y texturas que quedan como cicatrices sobre papel.

Discovery of the capacity to reproduce an image, awareness that this capacity becomes your own language or your way of saying what you feel or think. Words or thoughts become images that you see from inside and the line and dot are the physical forms to express that which only you see.

In the beginning it is like a senseless game, like something that amuses you. As time goes by it becomes a mixture of feelings where everything that happens to you may be expressed on a sheet of paper with ink. A blank sheet of paper becomes the confidant of what happens inside, the line and dot become part of your life and are present in your coffee, at lunch, with your loved ones, with your solitude. You realize that your drawing ceased to be a coincidence in your life to become an essential part of your existence. At times you do not know if you are thinking or drawing or if you think before your draw; it just comes out like talking, you draw like birds fly without realizing they are flying, you draw like birds sing without realizing they sing. Graphic Anthology is a choice of experiences, where paper and line become recorded moments; a diary, where words are images, where poems are not read as text, but are read as strokes, rhythms and textures that remain on paper like scars.

Jonathan Ardón, también conocido como Nathan, nació en 1988 en la ciudad de Guatemala. De 2006 al 2007 estudió en la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas Rafael Rodríguez Padilla. Ardón trabaja y vive en Guatemala. Desde los siete años descubre su fascinación por el dibujo y los trazos, desde entonces, fue reconocido por sus compañeros de aula por esa destreza. A los 18 años decide inscribirse en la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas, en donde se puso en contacto con obra de grandes maestros tanto de su país natal como del mundo, lo que despertó aún más su pasión por el dibujo y las artes plásticas. Nathan, tal como firma sus obras, se ha ganado espacios y reconocimientos en el arte guatemalteco, gracias a su talento expuesto en las principales galerías del país, en el que se caracteriza por el dibujo de aves, nidos, mujeres y figura humana a lápiz y tinta principalmente. Es sin lugar a dudas, el inicio de un artista.

Jonathan Ardón, also known as Nathan, was born in Guatemala City in 1988. From 2006 to 2007 he studied at the Rafael Rodríguez Padilla National School of Fine Arts. Ardón works and lives in Guatemala.

From the age of seven he discovered his fascination for drawing and strokes and since then was recognized by his classmates for that skill. At 18 he decided to enroll at the National School of Fine Arts, where he made contact with works of great masters both from his native country and the world, which further awakened his passion for drawing and the fine arts. Nathan, as he signs his work, has gained ground and recognition in Guatemalan art, thanks to his talent which is exhibited in major galleries in the country, which is characterized by the drawing of birds, nests, women and the human figure, mostly in pencil and ink. It is without a doubt, the beginning of an artist.
