2023 Varsity Football
Going into the last three games of this season, only San Gabriel had a chance to finish with a winning record from the three AUSD high schools. They were 4-4 — Alhambra was 1-7, and Keppel was 0-8. The last two games have significant ramifications and can determine who advances to the playoffs and who goes home early. The games are getting bigger, so it’s time to gear up as the monetary portion of football season has arrived.
Last year, San Gabriel made the playoffs as an at-large team and went all the way to the State Championship Game, where they lost to Atascadero. In 2021, Alhambra finished third in the league and made it to the CIF Semi-Finals before losing to Loara, who went on to win the Division 14 Championship.
2023 Varsity Basketball
The 2023-24 Basketball season is just around the corner, with games beginning November 13. All three long-time Head Coaches return: Hung Duong (Keppel), Bryan Gonzalez (Alhambra), and Jason
Meador (San Gabriel). Last year, Keppel finished with a record of 20-9, Alhambra finished 18-9, and San Gabriel finished 14-12. Let the games begin!
2023 Varsity Baseball
You might think it’s too early to think about baseball, but many teams are playing Fall games in preparation for the 2024 season. The Alhambra Moors have 12 games lined up from October 28 through February 3, hoping to replicate last year’s 20-win season. Head Coach Jovan Ramirez returns for his third season with five players who made the All-League last year: Carlos Hernandez, Jackson Akers, Ethan Ayala, Marc Hernandez, and Nero Navarro. Keppel has a new Head Coach, Eric Felix, who played and coached at Alhambra under former Head Coach Steve Gewecke. San Gabriel made strides last year under firstyear Head Coach Anthony Nichols, and his return, along with a full coaching staff, is good news for the Matadors. The 2024 season for all three teams begins February 10, 2024.
