Main Street Attraction, Uniting Commerce and Charity for Over 40 Years
In Alhambra, community involvement and charitable organizations play a significant role in shaping the city’s character. Among the many organizations dedicated to making a difference in the lives of residents is Main Street Attraction on W Main St, a volunteer-run thrift and consignment store established in 1982.
Owned and operated by the San Marino Area Chapter of the National Charity League, this upscale, nonprofit secondhand store is fully staffed by volunteers. So where do the profits go? Proceeds all go to charity, mainly funding college scholarships for local girls.
According to the owners: “Our mission is to sell high-quality, preowned merchandise, operating with an all-volunteer staff, enabling us to award the proceeds to our chapter-affiliated philanthropies and provide scholarships for deserving college-bound high school women.” This charitable model has sustained the business for over 40 years!
Inside, Main Street Attraction is a treasure trove of pre-loved items. Shoppers can find an array of goods, including clothing (for adults and children of all sizes), accessories, household items, furniture, books, and more. Prices are reasonable, and the quality is top-notch.
For over four decades, Main Street Attraction has remained a haven for both bargain hunters and those with a heart for charity, demonstrating that shopping with purpose can attract and maintain customers. With their unwavering commitment to community service, this volunteer charity has become a cherished fixture at the heart of W Main St.
Main Street Attraction is open Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 218 W Main St, Alhambra, CA 91801. Follow them on Instagram at @main_street_attraction.
