News from
Arlesey Community Events
We had a fabulous turn out for the Jubilee Party in the Park and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of live performances from Gothic Mede Academy, Jordan Semmens School of Performing Arts, Gifford Dance Academy, Cinderella (Once upon A Perfect Party) and the Muskrat Duo. The sun shone and we got the opportunity to enjoy being together as a community to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of our Queen. Thank you everyone who helped make the event such a huge success, and to Arlesey Town Council for funding the Jubilee celebrations.
Joanne King (Arlesey News Magazine) judged our Jubilee Scarecrow Festival and awarded first prize to "Maypole Celebrations" by Gothic Mede Academy, 2nd place to "Rose & herbert" by Chase House Nursing Home and 3rd place to Royal in the Park by Helen Clifford. Some furious online voting took place on Saturday night before "A Royal Campfire" by 1st Arlesey Beavers were declared the residents choice. Well done to our winners and thank you to everyone who took part and brightened up the village with their creations. Luna Rescue held a Jubilee themed Dog show at the Party in the Park Thank you to all the Arlesey pooches for bringing your humans to the Dancers from Gifford Dance celebrations! Best in show was given to Snoop, the Great Dane. Thank you everyone for turning out to our first big event post-COVID. It was lovely to see so many of you there! We hope to have some more events in the autumn, along with our Christmas Fair/Lights switch on (Nov 26th) and our annual Advent windows trail. Several people have asked when the Summer Fete will be returning - hopefully in 2023 is the answer! It's such a mammoth task to organise and manage on the day that we really need some more people to join us! The current committee only has 6 members - we need a lot more people to make the Fete happen. So please have a think.... If you feel able to spare a few hours a year to help your community then we'd love to have you on board! We have a couple of planning meetings a year and uou can do as much or as little as you are able.
Cinderella visited us for the day!
Snoop - Our best in show!
