Local Ladies Triumph in Las Vegas!
When Rachel Deakin, a Teaching Assistant from Gothic Mede and Denise Brazier, a personal trainer from Arlesey started working out together, little did they know they would end up winning a worldwide fitness competition in Las Vegas!

Denise who runs her own business in Arlesey, Warrior Hiit and friend Rachel started working out together on Zoom during lockdown, then meeting up in the field to train together when restrictions were lifted. During this time, it was suggested to the ladies that they should enter ‘Hyrox’ a fitness contest hosted around the world where athletes compete in the same race, on the same course with up to 3,000 participants taking part at the same time.
Up until this point Rachel had never even run, but she was in really good shape so the ladies began their training with some short runs and built up from there.
By the time the first competition came around in September 2021, alongside Denise and Rachel, a further 8 athletes from Warrior Hiit were also competing alongside them in the event.. Amazingly, Rachel and Denise won their London competition which meant they qualified for the World Championships in Las Vegas!
The ladies spent the next few months training hard, starting in the early hours and training 4-5 times a week. The competition in Las Vegas featured the fittest athletes from 22 different countries. Incredibly, the ladies placed 3rd in the World and 1st for Great Britain.
Both Denise and Rachel were absolutely thrilled with the result and are both looking forward to next season so that they can get back in to training, smash their winning time and go for the world record!
