I have had the ultimate relaxing weekend, an invite from Jayne and Graham to spend an evening in 'Pepper Pot Lodge' converted from the original 17th-century gatehouse and nestled in the parkland of St Giles House. Home Farm House is a two-minute walk away, and on arrival, Jayne took us to the quaint lodging, a gorgeously converted, modernised and extended gatehouse, with the same attention to detail and personal touches for which Home Farm House is renowned. The small touches that create a romantic getaway, from the clean robes, the home cooked cookies, and brownies, to the mugs on the side bearing your name as you enter... Picture-perfect for a couples’ getaway, with dried logs, a super stocked kitchen for a gastronomic storm, a basket of home cooked goodies and amazing breakfast supplies sourced from the local butcher, and incredible views of graceful greenery from every window, a real chance to snuggle down, switch off and do some amazing stargazing in this beautiful part of the World. Leading off the lounge is a well-appointed bedroom, with a spacious shower room and large walk-in shower. This 'wind in the willows' retreat is just delightful, the little round porthole windows and shutters make you feel like you are hunkered down in the warm forest enclave, to relax and unwind whilst watching the sunset over the River Allen. The passionate and attentive hosts have the heating on, parlor games ready for the weary traveler and the kindling dry and ready for the fire, with touches of decor laying claim to the 'big house' of Wimborne St Giles, and the little house quirkiness, this is the perfect base for exploring all that Dorset has to offer, from the spectacular Jurassic Coastline in the West to the sandy beaches in the East. The picture-perfect villages and historic towns, cities, and monuments. I am amazingly peaceful after just one night, the power shower revives, the hot breakfast comforts and the sunrise awakens my soul, a perfect start for some adventurous exploration of this part of the world, within the welcome brochure, you find walks that are for the novice to the extreme hiker, a chance to visit some of the supreme countryside and rivers in England, the deer are off in the corner of the estate, the fire is smoldering, it is going to be an unbelievable day ahead.
