Our vision for Adult Social Care in Kingston has our residents at the heart of what we do, working together across the Council and with our partners to make a positive difference. The work we do with Argenti in developing and delivering our TEC service truly embodies this vision.
I am really proud of the impact that our TEC service is having for our residents:
• Supporting them to remain safely at home
• Promoting independence and preventing or delaying the need for other forms of care and support
• Enabling loved ones to continue to provide vital care and support
• Helping patients to get home from hospital as quickly as possible
And I’m really excited about what we can achieve together over the months and years ahead through our digital transformation programme with the Argenti TEC Service.

THINK TEC
When working with an adult, consider how TEC can improve well-being, safety and care outcomes can compliment a traditional care package to improve well-being and safety outcomes.

4 ONGOING SUPPORT
Argenti provide repairs and monitoring (where required) for duration of service.
Outcomes focused solutions personalised to individual needs
In each of these cases there is a falls risk, but a more detailed understanding of each person’s situation allows Argenti to provide a selection of devices that best achieve the desired outcomes.
Staying safe at home
Bishal lives alone and is very independent. His niece lives locally and visits once a week. He still cooks himself but needs carers two times a day to help with personal care. After two falls and long lies leading to long hospital stays Bishal is nervous but wants to stay at home.
Primary Outcome
Supporting Carers
Mr & Mrs Lawton live together. They don’t leave the house without help. Mr Lawton cares for his wife who has Dementia and other needs. Mr Lawton is feeling the strain of his caring responsibility and is also worried about his own health needs.
Primary Outcome
Support Mr Lawton to look after his wife as well as possible and avoid carer breakdown.
TEC Solution
• A fall detection aid for Mrs Lawton that links to a carer pager that means Mr Lawton is alerted to his wife needing help or falling, so she can spend time in the garden alone whilst he remains inside watching his favourite TV shows.
• Smart speakers set up to interact with Mrs Lawton and promote things she likes, and remind her so Mr Lawton doesn’t have to do everything.
• Medication prompts to reduce the risk of missed doses and take the strain off of Mr Lawton
Bishal wants to remain at home and feel safe.
TEC Solution
Bed sensor on a timer to indicate Bishal has not returned to bed after a trip to the toilet
Falls detection aid to allow Bishal to call for help if needed and to detect a hard fall
• Linked smoke detection for fire risks
Enabling Independence
Ms Paru is active in the community but is starting to struggle with her memory. She has had a few cases of not finding her way home without support which has caused her anxiety. She has a large family network who are concerned for her.
Primary Outcome
Enable Ms Paru to remain independent and her family to best support her without the need for formal care.
TEC Solution
• A James Watch GPS locator to enable Ms Paru ‘s support network to find her if she falls or gets lost whilst in the community. Also allowing her family to talk to her through the watch
• A geofence set up on the watch or smartphone to alert family if Ms Paru goes outside of a normal area
• Smartphone reminders set up to prompt her to take her medication and take the bins out
Shaping your Service
Our Approach to Long Term Service
The Long Term Service is for people who have eligible care and support needs under the Care Act and where TEC is able to help meet care outcomes in a way that supports the financial sustainability of the Council. Our approach puts the person at the heart of the service, with referrals focussed on the individual’s needs and the outcomes they want to achieve as part of a strengths-based approach to care and support.
• To be considered as part of the ‘first offer’ – in line with a strengthsbased approach
• May be the only intervention a person receives from Kingston ASC, or it may form part of the wider care and support package
• Open-ended length of service
• People will have received an assessment from ASC and have been determined to have Care Act eligible needs
• The service can be accessed via a needs and outcomes-based referral form on Liquid Logic
Private Pay Service
The Private Pay Service is designed for people who do not meet the eligibility criteria for the Long Term Service. The Private Pay Service can also be a preferred choice for a person who wants to access Care Technology without needing to interact with Royal Borough of Kingston Adult Social Care Teams. Visit www.argenti.co.uk to find out more.
Hospital Discharge Short Term Service
The Hospital discharge short-term service provides same-day TEC solution to patients who require TEC as part of their D2A, supporting a smooth and swift discharge home from hospital.
• Provided for maximum of 6 weeks
• Devices are returned and recycled for reuse at end
• If eligible and TEC required on a long-term basis, then separate referral is made to the Argenti Long Term Service
• Devices are stored and available from Kingston Hospital
• Referrer confirms suitability of device for resident needs, and completes a simple referral form via liquid logic
Activity Monitoring
Activity monitoring systems use non-obtrusive sensors in a person’s home and can help care professionals complete objective and evidence-based assessments, enabling people to receive the right level of care and support.
• Data from TEC activity monitoring systems can provide insights to how well people are managing their independence at home 24 hours a day which is not possible using traditional assessment methods
• Using Activity Monitoring for short assessment periods can help to assure families that people are receiving the care and support they need, and may help to avoid unnecessary residential care admissions and ensure home care packages are tailored to need
