ANUNACCEPTABLE RELIGION

Q.:Whatreasonsarethere fornotacceptingSwedenborg'steachingsR.:Thegreaterdifficulty wouldbetofindreasons whyoneshouldacceptthem. WhiteandtheSeventhDay Adventists?Theonlyground foracceptingSwendenborgianismisbeliefinthereliabilityofSwedenborg's visionsandwritings.His writings,however,arelike theautomaticscriptsof spiritualistic mediums. Again,hisinterpretationof Scripturearefancifulinthe extreme,andfullofconfusionsandcontradictions. Norisitcreditablethathe wasthefirst.afterover1700 yearsofChristendom,to seethetruesenseofthe Bible. Anotherdifficulty forSwedenborgiansisthat Swedenborghimselfdidnot wanttoestablishanewdenominationorsect,but hopedmembersofexisting Churcheswouldaccepthis teachings.The"Churchof theNewJerusalem,"foundedbyhisfollowers13years afterhisdeath,wasfoundedagainsthiswill.Whyrejecthisguidancehere,yet acceptitcredulouslyin everythingelse;Finallyif wereallybelieveinChrist, webelieveinHispromise thatthegatesofhell(or forcesofevil)wouldnever againsttheChurch andthatHewouldbewithit alldayseventilltheendof theworld.ThatexcludesbeliefthatHisChurchdid fail,andthatSwedenborg hadtobecommissionedto repairthatfailure.For anyonewhobelievesinand understandstheNewTestamentthe'Churchofthe ofChrist.
