Thefiguresdisclosedthat onlyacomparativelysmall percentageofthetotal membershipavailedthemselvesoftheopportunity providedbytheretreatsto tone-uptheirspirituallives, ofwhichallstoodinneed. Executivememberscould giveavaluableleadbyattendingtheretreatsand thenbypersonalvisitation endeavourtogetmembers generallytofollowtheir example.
Thedutiesofprefects wereoutlinedbythediocesanspiritualdirector(the Rev.T.Ahern)whoexplainedthattheirfirstresponsibilitywastogetto knoweverymemberina guildpersonallyandseekto
takeapersonalinterestin suchmembers. Hospitalvisitationof memberswhowereillwas onewaywhichshouldappealtoprefectsandcouldbe aforceingaininggreater appreciationofthesociety.
Next,prefectsshould maintainacloserelationshipwiththespiritualdirectorofthebranch.Reports onattendancesatHoly Communionandevening meetingsshouldbemade privatelybytheprefectand neveratameeting.
