HisGracetheArchbishop willofficiateatallthree ceremonies.Hewillbless andopentheChurchofOur LadyofSorrows,atHydney,onSunday,July26;the ChurchofSt.Joseph,at Kulin,inthemorningof August2;andtheChurchof ChristtheKing,atDudinin, intheafternoonofthesame day.

Thethreechurches,designedandbuiltbyMr.S. Costelloe,havebeenerected underthesupervisionof FatherLeech.Ofsimilar design,theymeasure50by 25feet,andareconstructed incementbrick.Theywill accommodate60peopleeacn. Stained-glasswindowsgive thesanctuariesadignified andliturgicalsetting.The floorofthesanctuaryisraisedaboutsixinches,the wallsaresoftblue,and statuesoftheSacredHeart andOurLadyareplacedin suitablydesignedniches. Concealedlightingisalso provided.

Weretheworkandthe idealsoftheS.V.P.to 'egenerateintomerephilanthropywecouldsayofit asChristsaidofthePhari sees:beholdwealreadyhave ourreward.Toassistevery humanbeingirrespectiveof colourclassorcreed,becauseheis,amemberora potentialmemberofChri-A's MysticalBodyis,andmust be,theaimofeveryineTibr oftheS.V.P.Thatwasthe idealwhichanimatedthe patronofthesociety.Saint Vincent,whosefeastdaywe celebratetoday,isthegreat apostleofcharityprecisely becauseheministeredtodivinityinhumanity.St.Vincentsawinthepoorand theneedynotmerelyhumanbeingsbutJesusChristin Hismysticalmembers, Asyouareaware,thelife ofeveryorganicbodymay beregardedundertwoaspects.First,itpossesseslife intherealsense,thatislife whichweassociatewith motionandmovement.That lifebeginsatbirthandends atthemomentcalleddeath, Shelteringunderthatlife, infactcontributingto::t, areotherlives,livesbeyond number,thelivesoftheinnumerablecellswhichcomposethebody.Eachcellhas itsownindividuallifeyet dependsonandsharesin theonelifeofthebody.

Inthespirituallifewe haveanexactparallel.Jesus Christmayberegardedas thelife,andshelteringand dependingonthatlife,are allofus,thelivingcells whichcomposeoneorganic bodywhichwecalltheMysticalBodyofChrist.Itis calledmysticaltodistinguish itfromthephysicalBody ofChristwhichwasborn 2,000yearsago.SaintPaul mentionsthiswhenhesaid: "YouaretheBodyofChrist, andmembersofmember... forastheBodyisone,and hathmanymembers;andall themembersofthebody, whereasthey.aremany, yetareonebody;soalsois Christ".OurDivineLord expresseditinotherwords: "Iamthevine,youarethe

Ifhemustbepreparedforapurgewhichwillshake theSoviettoitsfoundations,clearlyhecannotcontemplateadventuresabroad,howeverfarpreparations havegoneinthatdirection.So,littlebylittle,he hasbeguntoleashthedogsofthecoldwar.There areeven indications thatheproposestorelaxthe reignofterroragainsttheChurch.Henceitisaper- iodofverygreatdangerforWesterncivilisation,becausetheRussophilesofyesteryearhaveswunginto violentreaction,buttheydonotintheleastunderstandthethingtheyhateanymorethantheywiderstandwhattheyloved.Theymayquiteeasily,especiallythoseinthepressgang,betakingtheSoviet againintotheirbosoms,believingaradicalchangehas takenplace.Nothingcouldbefurtherfromthe truth.WhatishappeningnowisaclassicaldemonstrationofSoviet"morality"-expediencyrules.The peaceoffensiveisinfinitelymoredangerousthanthe coldwar,foritwilldeceivemany,theelecteven,if posible.

Aftertheordination,the youngpriest journeyed homewithhisfather,brotherandsister.Greatindeedwasthemother'sjoy when,thatnight,theyoung priestplacedhisnewlyanointedhandsonherand gaveherhisfirstpriestly blessing.Tearswetthose handsasshetookandkissed them.

Hismothersickened, strickendownwithafatal malady.Sheprayedfor butonething;sheboreher sufferingswithheroicpatienceandresignation,offeringalltoGod,makingonly onerequest-thatshemight besparedtoseehersonordainedapriestandhearhis firstMass.

Slowlythemonthsdraggedon,weakerandweaker shebecame,andmoreacute thesuffering.Stillshe prayedandhopedwitha greathope.Thelastweek

However,boththeSlovenianandtheCroatian authoritiesrefusedpermissionforthetransferofthe Cardinal,whoisseriously ill.

Cardinalissufferingfrom acirculatorydisorderwith severephlebitis(inflarnatonofthevein)ofthe rightleg,complicatedby pulmonarytuberculosisof theleftlobe.
