ThedeceasedSisterwas borninRoslynBush, Southland,NewZealand,58 yearsago.In1914,inanswertoanappealforpostulantsforDongarra,Mary Culhane,withseveralother NewZealandgirls,volunteeredforWesternAustralia.Shewaswellknown intheMissionhouseson theMurchisonandLeonora asabrightandkindlySister,butmostofherreligiouslifewasspentinthe Priory.Herkindandsympatheticnatureurgedherto lendahelpfulhandin manyanemergency.Her devotiontotheagedsick nunswasoutstanding,and shewilllongberememberedforthefundofamusing storieswhichshecouldcall upatamoment'snotice duringrecreation.
TheSolemnRequiem Masswascelebratedatthe Priory,Sept.3,bythe Rev.LeoHornung,S.C.A. FathersMoffatandMiddletonweredeaconandsubdeacon,respectively.The funeral,withfullDominicanceremonial,followed immediately,andinterment wasinthenuns'cemetery, adjoiningthePriory.
Sister'sfatherandmother andhersister,SisterM. Gerard,0.P.,Priory,Dunedin,diedsomeyearsago. Thesympathyofthecommunityisofferedtoher onlysurvivingsister,Mrs. Crawford,Riverton,New Zealand,andtootherrelatives.

Theriseofthemovement, thoughnotspectacular,has beenoneofsolidconsolidation.Themovementwas givenitsfirstofficialrecognitioninMelbourneon Sept.8,1941,andatthe firstnationalconference,attendedby100priestsfrom alloverAustralia,Mr. FrankMcCannwasappointednationalsecretary.
Thefirstfull-scalenationalconferencewasheld inBrisbanein1945with100 leadersand60chaplainsattending.Subsequentnationalconferenceshave beenheldinNewcastle, Adelaide,Melbourne,and Perth.Onehundredleadersandchaplainsarenow meetinginBrisbane.
Australiahasbeenrepresentedatthegreatinter-nationalralliesinMontreal andBrusselsandtheNationalsecretarywassentby theAustraliangovernment toparticipateintheInternationalYouthConference inLondonin1948.

MaxwellKellyhadjust completedanexceptionally brilliantcourseinSydney university.Hehadwon almostthepossibleinmathematicsandphysicsinhis threeyears'course.He woneachyeartheBarker, forfirstandhighdistinction inmathematics;hewasalso firsteachyearwithhigh distinctionsinPhysics.
In1950hegraduatedin SciencewithfirstclasshonoursinMathematics,first place,theUniversitymedal, theBarkerprize,aCommonwealthResearchstud-
entship,andtheJames King,ofIrrawang,Travellingscholarship.
Thislastscholarshipis awardedbySydneyuniversityonceeveryfive yearsandentitlestheholdertostudyabroadatanapproveduniversityfora periodoftwoyearsat£500 ayear.

Filipinoswereprominent amongthe200whoattended theseven-day'missionin Broome.Afeatureofthis mission,saidFatherKeohane,wastheveryfine singingofthecoloured people.
