"Everyman,"amorality playdatingfromthe15th. wasadaptedfor theconvent'spresentation bythenuns,MissL.Cavanagh,elocutionteacher; andMissDorothyFleming, dancinginstructress.Groups wereintroducedforsome ofthecharacters,andsinginganddancingpartsaffordedamplescopeforthe girls'talents.
Acrowdedhallwitnessed andapplaudedtheplay, stagedinconnectionwith thejubileeoftheLoreto nunsinthisState.
Everygirlinthesenior schoolhadapartinthe presentation,oneofthe mostoutstandingfeatures ofwhichwasthebeautiful costumingofthegirls.Costumesweredesignedbythe nunsandmadebythe children'sparents.

Dr.FrancoisLeuret,presidentoftheLourdesMedicalbureau,issuedanannouncementonthethree cases.Reportshavebeen forwardedtodiocesancanonicalcommissionswhere thepilgrimsresidetodetermineiftheirrecoveriesare ofamiraculousnature.
Thethreecasesare:
1.FrancescadiLuigi,of theMilanArchdiocese,who
wassufferingfromtubercularperitonitis.ShearrivedatLourdeswitha fever,andhadwastedaway toalmostnothing.Onher returntoLourdesin1949 shewascured.Herhealth isperfectatthepresent time.
2.MadeleineCarini,of Milan,whoalsorecovered fromseveretubercularperitonitis,whichin1949was
incurablebymeansthen available.
3.MadameGestas,of theBordeauxArchdiocese, strickenwithadhesiveperitonitiswhichrequiredmultipleabdominalsurgery.
ThislastcasewasreportedonbyProf.PierreMauriac,oftheUniversityof Bordeauxschooltfmedicine,whoisabrotherof FrancoisMauriac,thenovelist.ProfessorMauriac followedtheillnessfortwo years.
Theprofessorsaidthat MadameGestashadundergonesurgerythreetimes forstomachulcerandinflammatorypericolitis.She hadlostabout44pounds. Butaftershebathedinthe watersatLourdesshewas suddenlyrelievedofallthe complicationsandpains thathadbarredherfrom anyactivityforyears.Todayshehasregainedher weightandstrength.
"Thecureseemstome humanlyunexplainable," ProfessorMauriacconcluded.
ColonelKinney,36,ofthe U.S.AirForce,isaconvert totheCatholicChurch;he enteredtheChurchin April,1939,duringhislast weeksattheMilitaryAcademy.

In1818,anearlierexplorer,Oxley,hadbeenprevented byswampsfromcontinuinghissurveyoftheMacquarie River.GovernorDarling,thinkingthattheprolonged droughtmighthavedrieduptheswamps,appointed CaptainCharlesStuntocompleteOxley'swork.

Successmethisefforts, however,inbusinessand politics.Hewasdirector ofanimportantinsurance companyandamemberof theFrenchColonialHigh Commission.
Hiswifewascharming, intelligent,andbeautiful, andahighspiritualityanimatedherwholelife.M. Leseur,however,determinedin1897,whenhiswife was31yearsold,toimpose uponherhisownunbelief.
Hehadbecomeadeptinirreligiousargument,introducedmanyunbelievers intotheirhome,andgave hiswifeanti-Catholicliterature.

Butabookhegaveher hadexactlytheoppositeeffecttowhathehadhoped. Shesawtheyawningabyss ofirreligioninallitshorror,andresolvedtocorn pleteherreligiousformation.Sheformedalibraryofthemastersoftheologyanddevotedherself toregularstudy.Everyday shemeditatedontheGospelsandbuiltupaspiritual lifeonthesacraments, dailymeditationandspiritualreading,seriousandregularstudy,andamonthly retreatinpreparationfor death.Shealsoofferedto Godherconstantillhealth, andthehostility,criticism, andridiculeherotherwise affectionatehusbandoffer-edinreligiousmatters.

Graduallyherhusband wasaffectedbyherexample.Hebecamemoretolerantofherreligionand evenarrangedthetable whenshewastoreceive Communioninhersickbed. Heremainedcompletely withoutfaith,buthiswife wasconvincedofhisultimatereturntotheChurch andseemseventohavereceivedthegiftofprophecy. In1912shetoldherhusbandthathewouldnot onlybeconvertedbut wouldbecomeapriestafter herdeath.Heregarded thisasnonsense.
Theradiantpatienceof Elizabethinherfinalillnesswasaninspirationto thosewhocametovisither. Hergaycourageastounded evenherhusband,whodid notknowthesourceofher strength.Hewas'notthe onlyonetofallunderher influence-allherlifeshe hadaidedthosewithwhom shecameintocontact,and hadattractedmanyconvertsbyherexample.She triedtoestablishahometo protectyounggirlsfromthe dangersofParisandhelpedmanypoorfamiliesin theslums.

Themissionarytreksof theseSistersmaylastas longasfiveweeks,with distancesupto100milesto becovered.Arrivingatan isolatedlocality,theygather thechildrenfromthesurroundingareaforinstruction.Theyvisithomesto
