EconomyDiscussed
Discussionaroseregardingthegreatlyincreased costtomanybranchesof funeralnoticesunderthe society'snameinthecaseof deceasedmembers.Delegates, whilewantingtopay respecttothememoryof deceasedmembersbymeans offuneralnotices, feltthat moreimportantwastheofferingofRequiemMasses fortheirsouls.
Itwasresolved, unanimously, thatthegeneral secretarycontacttheFuneralDirectors'associationto seewhethertheirmembers wouldendeavourtoinclude mentionofthedeceased person'smembershipofthe HolyNamesocietyinthe mainfuneralnotice, wheneverpossibleandalways waysprovidingthatsuch mentionwasacceptableto therelativesofthedeceased.
Ifpracticablethismethod wouldbefollowedfora trialperiodofthree months, butbranchsecretariesshouldnotethatthis wouldmakeitmorethan evernecessarythattheyadvisethegeneralsecretary immediatelytheyheardof thedeathofamember.
