The Convent of the Sisters of Mercy is one of the oldest in the State. The Very Rev. Dean A. H. Walsh, V.F., guides the spiritual destinies of the parish, and the St. Patrick's Ball, held in aid of the Church (a report of which appears in this issue) was a great success. During the months of September and October, York is admittedly one of the beauty S 'II

by the towering heights of Mt. Bakeon the one std.., and of Mt. Hardy and Mt. Brown on the other, lies the (comparatively) ancient capital of the Eastern agricultural districts.. Long before Arthrr

the township has moved onward

thoroughly up-to-date buildings adorn its

picturesque streets. The new Town Hall would do credit to my municipality in Australia. Avon Terrace,

shown in our illustration, is a

State. The substantial cruiciform

Church shown in the picture was

erected many years ago by the Very Rev. P. .1. Gibney, V.F., with whose

name the ecclesiastical history of York will he for ever associated.

The belfry tower,

which was co'npleted while the Rev. P. J. Sheridan

(now

of Boulder) was in charge of the parish, is the admiration of all visitors to that charming centre,

and is clearly visible from the train.
