CaptainCuffe,whoisnowcompletinghissecondtermasMayorcf theCity,wasnotnominatedforreelection.

Thebodyofayoungmannamed KeatingwhoresidedatKnocklofty, Clonmel,hasbeenfoundintheSuir nearMooncoin,Co.Kilkenny;side, HeleftClonmelon29thNovember toreturnhome,andintendedcrossingtheriver,anditissurmised thathelosthisfootinginthedareneseandfallingintothewater,was drowned.Abundleofunderclothing whichhecarriedwasfoundsome daysafterwards,andforseveral nightshisfatherkeptwatchingthe river,nearwherethebundlewas found,inthehopethatthebody wouldbeseen.

Thedeathhasoccurredattheresidenceofhisbrother,Green-St.,Kilkenny,oftheRev.PatrickFitzpatrick,attheageof54. Thefarmerhassevereworkand fewpleasures.Duringthemonthof Januaryheisnotverybusy.There isnotmuchworkdoingonthefarm, astheweatherisinvariably,cold, wetorsnowy.Thedaysarevery short;daylightfrom7.30a.m.to 4.3o.p.m.Hehasthecattleto feedandattendto,butbeyondthis andalittlefencing,drainingorimprovingbuildingshecannotdomuch.
