“H,” the gathering adopted a respectful quiet and listened to the dedication speakers. Students heard from president Chris DiMauro, board chair William A. Scala, Lewis “Bud” Wentz and a representative from the Browns. Father Mike Ausperk, with the help of student representatives, led the gathering in a blessing over the fields, ensuring a holy presence will guide our athletes in their actions. “It was really powerful. I felt a lot of gratitude for how respectful the students were during the dignitaries’ speeches,” Griffith remarked. “It’s hard to sit out there with all your friends and just be quiet for a while.” Following the dedication, the reverent tone shifted to one of jubilation as the dance and cheer squads took to the new fields for the first time. Riding the energy of the performances, Martin would then lead the students through the planned TikTok routine, getting the whole student body involved in this epic dance battle. “There were a couple of big obsta-

On Friday, Sept. 24, the Hoban community—students, faculty, board members and donors alike—joined together to celebrate the latest revision to the campus grounds: the newly-turfed Wentz Financial Lower Fields. The fields, which will benefit Hoban’s athletic programs and the surrounding East Akron community, hosted both the revenant dedication ceremony and the jubilant pep rally shortly after—a testament to the Christian spirit of the Hoban family. To recognize the significance of this moment, newly-promoted principal TK Griffith requested the entire student body’s presence at the ceremony, asking them to come with attitudes of respect and spirit. Working in conjunction with administrators, athletics and senior Julia Martin, Griffith put together an engaging sequence of events to promote both the Hoban brand and energy.
