CLIP-IN BARRIER | Deployment Guide Please consider carefully before deploying this product. It may not be suitable for all people for a number of reasons including the weight or size. This deployment guide contains important infomation and practical advice on how to install, care for and maintain your flood protection product(s).

Deployment Time

Each Floodguard Clip-in Barrier panel should take between 30 seconds and 2 minutes to fully deploy.

Deployment 1. Ensure you match the panel to the designated aperture.

2. Hold the panel ensuring a good safe lifting technique within your physical capability. For larger panels this may involve a 2-person lift with one person at each end.

3. Locate the edge into the back-frame until it sits in the correct position.

4. Starting with the 2 top clips, push the clips around the hooks and click to secure. It should be possible to locate and deploy the bottom clips without visual reference.

Please be careful not to trap your fingers in the clips, or to trap any objects between the seal and the back-frame.

Removal and Storage When the flood and the risk of flooding have subsided, remove the panels by unclipping firstly the bottom clips and side clips leaving the top clips securely fastened. Pushing the panel into the frame in order to take the weight, release the top clips and lift the panel away from the back-frame. Wipe down with a damp cloth and warm soapy water and allow to dry. Return to storage in dry, secure location away from direct sunlight.

Please note air brick vent covers should be removed as soon as flood waters subside to allow proper ventilation of property.

About the product Floodguard Clip-in Barrier is a reusable product designed for the temporary mitigation of flood risk and should be seen as part of a suite of measures to reduce the risk of flood water entering a property and has been tested according to PAS11881:2014 (designation of Building Aperture protection). It may also be used on perimeter defences such as a wall provided that it is again understood to be just one component of an overall system.

Conformance of the product to PAS 11881:2014 does not mean it is suitable for all buildings or locations. If the user has any uncertainty about the suitability of a product, they should seek professional guidance.

Any flood protection has the potential to fail suddenly. If installed and deployed correctly onto the outer face of a wall failure is highly unlikely.

Testing This product has been tested against the standard set of tests as defined in PAS 1188-1:2014 which represent typical conditions that might be experienced during a flood in the UK. This includes testing the product for leakage under static water levels [up to 840mm] above aperture threshold level, waves up to 0.1 m high, and parallel currents up to 1.0 m/s. The testing undertaken under this PAS excludes all other components of the flood protection system.

Other important information The product itself will not prevent floodwater ingress via other routes and therefore you should obtain a flood protection risk assessment to be carried out by a suitably qualified building surveyor, architect, structural engineer, civil engineer or those deemed competent prior to installation of the product to ensure the relevant routes for water

entry have been identified and that the structural integrity of the building is not compromised by the flood protection product.

All buildings where these products are used should have suitable means of access/egress for the normal occupants of the building. Safe access/ egress should be a consideration before installation or deployment of these products and may inform the sequence in which the products are deployed.

Safe access/egress routes should be available at all stages of a flood including when a building is surrounded by floodwater. Floodguard Clip-in Barrier is a single panel system for ease of use and to reduce the potential leak-paths to a minimum. It uses the arch-dam principle i.e. the shape to add strength rather than material. Users should be aware of the weight of each panel and ensure they are well within comfortable lifting ability.

Performance of the Floodguard Clip-in Barrier products should not fall away in a long duration flood event. However to prevent water inside the panel if the product is deployed in an unsheltered area, tape a piece of plastic material to the door and hang it over the front of the panel to ensure no water build-up behind panels. Alternatively, if panels are left in place during heavy rain you may experience a small water build-up between the panel and protected door. To avoid this, unclip the panel to let water out when flooding is not occurring.
