Plastica Water Treatment Overflows Into New Premises With increasing growth for their water treatment business, East Sussexbased Plastica have made the decision to take on new premises to expand their water treatment facility. Despite the Coronavirus outbreak, the ISO 9001 Certified company have managed to continue manufacturing throughout the lockdown, while of course adhering to strict social distancing rules and with decent weather and high demand, the orders have been rapidly escalating. Therefore, a decision was made to expand into a nearby premises, which will enable more storage space and room for an automated filling and capping machine. Starting from September, their new 5,000 square foot warehouse will be run by a team of experienced water treatment staff. The extra space will increase the company’s manufacturing capacity while still allowing for the maintaining of social distancing protocols. The extensive Relax water treatment range – which contains products for swimming pools, spas and hot tubs – consists of dozens of products to ensure the effective year-round treatment of water plus items to help maintain equipment and make ownership easier. The Results Are Obvious With Gaffey’s iFLOC® Xact For commercial pools, getting the fundamentals of efficient flocculationfiltration and disinfection right are key to producing great water quality with low energy demand and low environmental impact. If opportunities to optimise the basic treatment steps are overlooked when designing or refurbishing pool plant, high chlorine consumption, high chloramine levels and dull looking water are often the result. A large proportion of the bather pollution in pool water is too small to be removed by filtration alone; colloidal substances such as mucus, body oils, cosmetics, proteins etc. These substances can be removed by flocculation, a simple and highly cost-effective treatment step. The flocculation process causes microscopic substances to bind together into larger macro-flocs which can be removed by filtration. When correctly implemented, optimised flocculation-filtration treatment can produce very impressive results which become visible underwater when looking through the length of the pool. Removing a far higher percentage of pollutants from the pool also results in a significant reduction in chlorine and pH donor consumption, along with lower chloramine levels and pool odour. To achieve these results the flocculant dosing pump must be capable of precise and continuous dosing of very small amounts of liquid floc, which for an average 25m pool could be as little as 15ml per hour. Overdosing is not only wasteful but may cause irritation to bathers and result in compaction of the filter bed, so selecting the right equipment will pay big dividends in the long run. The iFLOC® Xact dosing pump is designed specifically for this task and allows easy, precise set-up and automatic calibration of the dose rate without any manual measurements. The iFLOC® Xact also provides peak and off-peak dosing capability, an essential feature if the pool turnover rate is reduced during night-time hours. temperature and lights Filtration control • Control salt chlorinator (provided separatelly) by ORP regulation • Adjustment of pH set point and digital display of pH value locally and remotely • Adjustment of ORP set point and digital display of ORP value in mV locally and remotelly.

The easy-to-use system comes with a two-year warranty and should a variable speed pump be installed, Maestro can be upgraded if necessary. The Maestro joins a wide range of products from SCP UK which have been specifically chosen to make pool ownership easier, and sits between the ControlPro and IntelliPool systems in the company’s Pentair Control Systems line-up.
