emand in the UK for one-piece swimming pools was expanding right up until the pandemic struck – and then there was a small pause – and then they really took off! It seems the thought and then reality of lockdowns combined with uncertainty over international holidays was a tipping point for many across the UK. For those with large enough spaces, swimming pools in a variety of shapes and sizes were turned to, and one-piece options ticked lot of boxes for many people. Beyond these hopefully temporary circumstances, the popularity of fibreglass and one-piece options can mainly be put down to one very important attribute – convenience – and that includes quick delivery (under normal circumstances), relatively straightforward installation and low ongoing maintenance costs. The benefits don’t end there though. Mix in some truly stunning modern looks, competitive pricing and

fantastic peace of mind warranties and it’s a package that’s pretty hard, if not impossible to beat. With fittings and equipment in place and ready to go direct from the factory, they cause the minimum amount of fuss and disruption during installation – and that’s a huge benefit, especially in what are already testing times, and something that should not be under estimated. If time really is money, it’s no great surprise that both installers and consumers are increasingly embracing them as a cost-effective and hassle-free options. There’s now also such a wide range of finishing options that each pool can be customised to meet the needs of even the most particular and demanding customers. In short, it’s difficult to identify any real downsides to these one-piece wonders which can often provide their owners with up to 50 years of fun and service. Even access
challenges are rarely an issue thanks to an array of creative delivery methods plus options to split the pool and join it again on site. In short, one-piece pools provide an impressive and hard to ignore list of benefits versus other more traditional pool options and for many, it’s a something that’s just too tempting to ignore – especially when there’s uncertainty surrounding travel and holidays – and manufacturers will likely struggle to keep up with the demand for them.
