The Branson tennis team faced one of the strongest fields in many years, as Tam, San Marin, Marin Catholic, and Redwood all featured new and highly ranked players, shaking up the usual 1-2 finish of Redwood and Branson. Nonetheless, the Bulls celebrated their first MCAL Playoff victory over Redwood since 2021 with an upset win. In the finals, Branson lost to the resurgent and undefeated team from Tam, and the Bulls finished runner-up for the fourth year in a row. In the NCS playoffs, Branson was moved up into the D1 division where they ran into a powerful Dublin team, dashing hopes of another NCS title run by the Bulls.
Our #1 singles player, Katie Warrin finished the season at 8-11, winning 4 of her last 7 matches and picking up the deciding win against Redwood in the MCAL finals. At #2 singles, Paloma Vano-Rice had a fantastic season, notching 10 wins versus 7 losses. Simone Schachter, at #3 singles, finished the season at 5-9 after some hard-fought matches. Olivia Shekou delivered many key wins at #4 singles and finished with a strong 5-3 record.
The Bulls were buoyed throughout the season by the strength of their doubles teams, who won an impressive 74% of their matches. Top doubles teams included Sienna Yang/Xandra Sebastiani at #1 doubles with a winning 4-3 record, Talia Schneiter/Noa Schachter at #2 doubles with a very strong 4-1 showing, and Kaylee Jiang/Anna Jacobs at #3 doubles with an impressive 7 wins against only 1 loss.

Branson kicked off the 2025 season with an impressive performance on the road, defeating Justin Siena 7–0. As the team’s first match of the year, it was an excellent opportunity to set the tone for the season— and the Bulls did exactly that.
Singles play showcased Branson’s depth and consistency. At Singles #1, Katie Warrin came out strong, earning a decisive 6–1, 6–1 victory. Paloma Vano-Rice followed at Singles #2 with another confident win at 6–1, 6–2. At Singles #3, Simone Schachter battled through a competitive first set for a solid 6–4, 6–1 finish. Kaylee Jiang fought through the tightest match of the day, edging out a second-set tiebreak to claim a 6–2, 7–6 (6) victory at Singles #4.
The top duo of Talia Schneiter/Sienna Yang took control early and secured a confident 6–1, 6–2 win at Doubles #1. At Doubles #2, Olivia Shekou/Xandra Sebastiani delivered one of the most dominant performances of the day, 6–0, 6–1. Closing out the lineup, Bailey Hedrick/Anya Sridharan showed great teamwork at Doubles #3, earning a 6–3, 6–1 victory. Portia Pflaum won her exhibition match, 6-3.



Branson delivered a powerful statement in its first league match of the season, sweeping Novato 7–0. With strong performances across every court, the Bulls set a high bar for the season ahead.
Singles play was marked by consistency and dominant shot-making. At Singles #1, Sienna Yang set the tone early, overpowering her opponent 6–0, 6–1. Simone Schachter followed at Singles #2 with a composed and steady performance, securing a 6–2, 6–1 win. At Singles #3, Olivia Shekou continued the momentum, in a confident 6–0, 6–1 result. Sadie Winter kept the Bulls’ roll going with another commanding 6–0, 6–1 win at Singles #4.
Branson’s doubles teams were equally unstoppable. The top duo of Talia Schneiter/Xandra Sebastiani delivered a flawless performance, winning 6–0, 6–0 at Doubles #1. At Doubles #2, Bea Morfit/London Mullarkey followed suit, also cruising to a 6–0, 6–0 sweep. Completing the triple sweep in doubles, Sofia Rubenstein/Sophie Conte made quick work of their opponents with a dominant 6–0, 6–0 victory at Doubles #3.
In exhibitions, Zoe Hahn/Betty Ding won 6–1. Khema Klinetobe/Charlotte Houser won 6–0.




In their first meeting of the season against perennial rival Redwood High, Branson fell 0–7 in a hardfought contest.
At Singles #4, Kaylee Jiang put up a steady fight, keeping rallies long and disciplined before ultimately falling 6–2, 6–2. Sienna Yang, at Singles #3, kept the opening set tight but couldn’t hold off Redwood’s momentum, losing 6–4, 6–1. At Singles #2, Paloma Vano-Rice pushed her opponent to a second-set tiebreak before narrowly dropping a 6–4, 7–6 (8) decision. Singles #1 ended prematurely, with Katie Warrin retiring while trailing 3–0.
At Doubles #3, Bea Morfit/Sophie Conte fought through extended points but fell 6–1, 6–2. Olivia Shekou/Anya Sridharan found more rhythm as their match progressed, tightening the second set before losing 6–0, 6–4 at Doubles #2. In the marquee doubles match, Talia Schneiter/Xandra Sebastiani held their own against Redwood’s top team, battling through close games in both sets before ultimately dropping 6–4, 6–3. Exhibitions featured Anna Jacobs/Lily Green and Taylor Howard/Kate Bluming.










Branson earned a hard-fought 5–2 victory over Terra Linda at COM, with several matches going down to the wire.
In singles play, Katie Warrin led the way at the top spot with a strong 6–2, 6–3 win. Paloma Vano-Rice pulled out a clutch match at Singles #2, taking the super tiebreak for a 6–1, 4–6, 1–0 (3) victory. Simone Schachter added another point with a steady 6–2, 6–3 performance at Singles #3. At Singles #4, Kaylee Jiang battled through three tight sets before falling 6–4, 2–6, 1–0 (8).
Branson secured the team win with strong doubles results. Sienna Yang/ Xandra Sebastiani took Doubles #1 6–0, 6–4, while Olivia Shekou/Talia Schneiter dominated at Doubles #2 with a 6–1, 6–0 victory. Doubles #3 saw a close contest, with Sadie Winter/Ashley Wang narrowly dropping a 5–7, 6–2, 1–0 (10) match.
Branson swept the exhibition matches, Portia/Zoe, Taylor/Anna, and Sadie/Yasmin all winning 6-0, closing out a successful day for the team.


Branson traveled to San Francisco on September 5th for a non-league matchup against Lick-Wilmerding, ultimately coming up short in a 1–6 decision despite several close battles.
Singles play featured tightly contested matches at the top of the lineup. Katie Warrin pushed her opponent to a super tiebreak at Singles #1 before falling 7–6, 1–6, 1–0 (8). At Singles #2, Sienna Yang also battled through a tight first set but came up short 7–6, 6–2. Olivia Shekou kept things close in the opening set at Singles #3 before losing 6–4, 6–2, and Kaylee Jiang fell 6–0, 6–1 at Singles #4.
Branson’s lone team point came from doubles play. Bailey Hedrick/Anya Sridharan played well at #3, but lost 6-2, 6-3. At Doubles #2, Simone Schachter/ Xandra Sebastiani played a close first set but lost 6–4, 6–1. The top duo of Paloma Vano-Rice/Talia Schneiter earned a solid 6–4, 6–2 victory.
In exhibition action, Portia Pflaum represented Branson.


SEPTEMBER 10
Branson hosted first-place Tam at COM, battling through a challenging matchup before ultimately falling 2–5. Despite the tough result, the Bulls earned two impressive doubles victories and showed resilience throughout the lineup.
Tam’s strength was evident in singles play. Sienna Yang, Simone Schachter, Olivia Shekou, and Sadie Winter all faced powerful opponents and were unable to break through, with Tam securing wins across all four singles courts. Branson responded with strong performances in doubles. At Doubles #1, Paloma Vano-Rice/ Talia Schneiter delivered one of the highlights of the afternoon, winning a tight first-set tiebreak before closing out a confident 7–6, 6–4 victory. At Doubles #3, Anna Jacobs/Bea Morfit also came up big, taking the first set in a tiebreak and carrying that momentum to a 7–6 (2), 6–2 win. At Doubles #2, Kaylee Jiang/Xandra Sebastiani kept things competitive but ultimately fell 6–4, 6–2. Exhibition play featured Taylor Howard and Yasmin Charkin.



Entering the day with a 2–2 league record, Branson delivered when it mattered most, earning a pivotal 5–2 victory over Marin Catholic on September 12th at COM. The matchup featured multiple three-set battles, showcasing the team’s grit under pressure. In singles play, Simone Schachter got Branson on the board with a strong 6–2, 6–1 win at Singles #4. At the top of the lineup, Katie Warrin came through in a must-have match, rallying from a set down to win 3–6, 6–2, 1–0 (5) at Singles #1. Despite competitive efforts from Sienna Yang and Paloma Vano-Rice, Marin Catholic took the remaining two singles courts, 6-3, 6-4, and 6-2, 6-4.
Branson’s doubles teams proved decisive, sweeping all three matches. At Doubles #1, Olivia Shekou/Xandra Sebastiani delivered a convincing 6–1, 6–3 victory. Doubles #2 saw Kaylee Jiang/Talia Schneiter grind out a tight super-tiebreak for a 6–1, 4–6, 1–0 (5) win. At Doubles #3, Anna Jacobs/Sofia Rubenstein mounted a comeback to claim a 3–6, 6–4, 1–0 (4) victory.

Branson lived up to expectations in its September 16th matchup against San Rafael, earning a decisive 6–1 win at the College of Marin. Strong performances across both singles and doubles underscored the team’s depth and focus. In singles play, Sienna Yang set the tone at the top spot with a dominant 6–0, 6–1 victory. Simone Schachter followed with a composed 6–0, 6–4 win at Singles #2, and Olivia Shekou added another point at Singles #3 with a steady 6–2, 6–3 performance. At Singles #4, Sophie Conte battled through long rallies but ultimately fell 6–3, 6–1, giving San Rafael its lone point. Branson’s doubles teams sealed the match with a trio of commanding wins. At Doubles #1, Talia Schneiter/Xandra Sebastiani powered to a 6–1, 6–1 victory. Doubles #2 saw Bailey Hedrick/Anna Jacobs overwhelmed their opponents in a flawless 6–0, 6–0 result, while Bea Morfit/Taylor Howard secured Doubles #3 with an impressive 6–1, 6–1 win. In exhibition play, Kate Blumling, Veronica Getty, and Khema Klinetobe all earned victories.

The Branson Varsity Girls Tennis team traveled to San Marin High School on September 18th for a tense and hard-fought matchup. In one of the closest contests of the season so far, the Bulls came away with a narrow 4–3 victory thanks to strong showings from their doubles teams and a dominant singles win.
On the singles side, Paloma Vano-Rice delivered a standout performance at Singles #2, winning decisively 6–1, 6–3 and putting Branson on the board early. Katie Warrin (Singles #1), Simone Schachter (Singles #3), and Sadie Winter (Singles #4) each played with determination but were ultimately overpowered by San Marin’s top players.


Doubles proved to be Branson’s strength. At Doubles #1, Talia Schneiter/Sienna Yang came through with a solid 6–4, 6–4 win. Doubles #2 pair Kaylee Jiang/Olivia Shekou followed suit, securing their match 6–4, 6–3. The deciding point came down to Doubles #3, where Bea Morfit/Anna Jacobs battled through a tense second set to win 6–2, 7–5, clinching the team victory.

The Branson Varsity Girls Tennis team traveled to Archie Williams High School on September 22nd and delivered another strong team performance, earning a 5–2 win in a match that featured both grit and dominance across the board. Singles play was highlighted by Katie Warrin (Singles #1), who set the tone early with a commanding 6–1, 6–1 victory. Paloma Vano-Rice (Singles #2) followed with an equally impressive 6–0, 6–1 win. Although Sienna Yang (Singles #3) started strong, she was forced to retire in the second set after a tightly contested first. Olivia Shekou (Singles #4) mounted a strong second-set comeback but ultimately fell in a close tiebreaker. In doubles, the Bulls were unstoppable. Xandra Sebastiani/Talia Schneiter (Doubles #1) dominated their match 6–0, 6–1, while Bailey Hedrick/Anna Jacobs (Doubles #2) secured a 6–2, 6–3 win with confident play. Sophie Conte/Sofia Rubenstein (Doubles #3) completed the sweep with a convincing 6–0, 6–1




Novato - 0
On September 25th, the Branson Varsity Girls Tennis team hit the road to face Novato High School and returned home with a flawless 7–0 victory. From start to finish, the Bulls showed confidence, consistency, and commanding court presence across the board.
Singles play set the tone early. Paloma VanoRice (Singles #1) cruised through her first set and held firm in the second to win 6–0, 6–3. Simone Schachter (Singles #2) was in control throughout, earning a decisive 6–2, 6–0 win. Kaylee Jiang (Singles #3) and Sadie Winter (Singles #4) followed with dominant wins of their own, dropping just a handful of games combined. In doubles action, Branson continued to shine.

Sienna Yang/Xandra Sebastiani (Doubles #1) overwhelmed their opponents in a clean 6–0, 6–0 sweep. Bea Morfit/Taylor Howard (Doubles #2) paired up for a strong 6–2, 6–3 win, while Ashley Wang/Anya Sridharan (Doubles #3) rounded out the team effort with a solid 6–1, 6–2 victory.







The Bulls traveled to Redwood on September 30th for a highly anticipated rematch and a challenging afternoon of tennis. Despite determined efforts and standout victories, Branson came up short in a 2–5 loss to a strong Redwood squad.
Singles #2 Paloma Vano-Rice delivered a confident and composed performance, winning 6–0, 6–2 to secure Branson’s first point of the day. Doubles #3 Kaylee Jiang/Anna Jacobs followed with a commanding 6–3, 6–0 win, showcasing sharp net play and strong team chemistry. In other matches, Katie Warrin (Singles #1) started strong before falling 3-6, 0–6. Simone Schachter (Singles #3) fought through a tight first set but couldn’t turn the tide in a 5–7, 3–6 loss. Noa Schachter (Singles #4) played consistently but ultimately fell 4–6, 2–6.

On the doubles side, Noa Schachter/Sienna Yang (Doubles #1) and the team of Xandra Sebastiani/ Talia Schneiter (Doubles #2) battled through challenging rallies but ultimately fell in straight sets.

Noa Schachter/ Xandra Sebastiani (Doubles #1) held their nerve in a close second set, winning 6–2, 7–6 in a tiebreaker. Bailey Hedrick/Bea Morfit (Doubles #2) followed with a dominant second set to take their match 6–4, 6–0. Although Sophie Conte/ Sofia Rubenstein (Doubles #3) fell in two sets, their match was filled with long rallies and strong communication.
With a well-rounded team effort and multiple standout performances, the Bulls returned to form and added another win to their record.

Known for its strong lineup and vocal home crowd, Tam proved to be a tough opponent, handing the Bulls a 5–2 loss. Still, Branson found bright spots in their doubles play, showing resilience and competitive spirit.
In singles, Katie Warrin (Singles #1) started strong but couldn’t sustain momentum, falling 3–6, 0–6. Paloma Vano-Rice (Singles #2), Simone Schachter (Singles #3), and Bailey Hedrick (Singles #4) all faced tough competition and were unable to break through Tam’s aggressive style of play. The Bulls’ success came from the doubles courts. Xandra Sebastiani/Talia Schneiter (Doubles #2) dug deep to take the first set 7–5 and closed the match confidently 6–2, battling through long rallies and fierce resistance. At Doubles #3, Anna Jacobs/Kaylee Jiang once again proved their strength as a team, winning 6–1, 6–2 in a tiebreaker finish. Their chemistry and sharp execution have become a consistent source of points for Branson this season. Olivia Shekou/Sienna Yang (Doubles #1) played hard but fell 2–6, 1–6 to Tam’s top pair. Exhibition matches were played by Portia Pflaum, Kate Blumling, Zoe Hahn, and Ashley Wang, continuing to build experience and depth for the Bulls’ roster.

In a nail-biting matchup on October 15th, the Branson Varsity Girls Tennis team traveled to Marin Catholic and narrowly missed a comeback win, falling 3–4 in one of their most competitive matches of the season. Despite the team loss, the Bulls’ doubles squads delivered standout performances, including two intense tiebreaker wins.
Branson’s doubles lineup proved to be the highlight of the day. At Doubles #1, Sienna Yang/Talia Schneiter powered through a second-set battle to clinch a 6–0, 7–6 win in a thrilling tiebreaker. On the next court, Xandra Sebastiani/ Noa Schachter (Doubles #2) mounted a comeback after dropping the first set, ultimately winning 7–5, 6–4, and taking the match in another exciting tiebreak. Meanwhile, Olivia Shekou/ Anna Jacobs (Doubles #3) delivered a decisive and composed 6–1, 6–2 victory to complete a doubles sweep for the Bulls. Singles play was hard-fought but didn’t fall in Branson’s favor. Katie Warrin (Singles #1) split sets and forced a tiebreaker but came up just short after a long battle. Paloma Vano-Rice (Singles #2) and Simone Schachter (Singles #3) each had competitive moments but couldn’t overcome Marin Catholic’s top singles players. Kaylee Jiang (Singles #4) played a tight first set, pushing it to a tiebreaker, but ultimately fell in the second set 2–6.
After The Branson Lady Bulls traveled to San Rafael High School on October 17th and delivered a commanding team performance. All four singles players came out strong, with Katie Warrin setting the tone at Singles #1, taking a decisive 6-1, 6-1 win.

Paloma Vano-Rice followed with a confident 6-2, 6-1 victory, while Sienna Yang dominated her match 6-1, 6-0. Rounding out singles, Xandra Sebastiani closed with a solid 6-3, 6-1 win.
Branson’s doubles teams were equally unstoppable. Talia Schneiter/Bailey Hedrick rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at Doubles #1, and Sadie Winter with Bea Morfit delivered a clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep. The final match of the day saw Sofia Rubenstein/Sophie Conte match that momentum with another 6-0, 6-0 victory. A flawless outing across all lines, Branson secured the 7-0 sweep over San Rafael.



VS San MARIN - 3
OCTOBER 20




The Lady Bulls traveled to the College of Marin on October 20th for what turned into one of their closest matchups of the season. San Marin came out strong in singles, with Katie Warrin dropping a hard-fought match at the #1 line and Simone Schachter falling at #3 despite solid play from the baseline. But Branson answered back: Paloma Vano-Rice delivered a gritty comeback victory at Singles #2, taking the match in a tight tiebreak, and Olivia Shekou dominated at Singles #4 with a decisive straight-sets win. With the overall score tied 3–3, all eyes turned to the doubles court. Xandra Sebastiani/Sienna Yang held their nerve under pressure, securing the final point in a tense 6–3, 7–6 victory. Their steadiness at the net sealed the day for Branson.



Two days after their nail-biter against San Marin, the Lady Bulls returned to the College of Marin with renewed fire — and it showed. From the very first serve, Branson controlled every court. At Singles #1, Katie Warrin set the tone with a commanding 6–1, 6–0 victory, followed by another strong performance from Paloma Vano-Rice, who rolled to a confident straight-sets win. Simone Schachter continued the momentum at Singles #3 with crisp, decisive play, and freshman Noa Schachter closed out the singles sweep with an impressive 6–3, 6–3 finish.
The doubles teams kept the energy high. Sienna Yang/Bailey Hedrick powered through in straight sets, while Talia Schneiter/Xandra Sebastiani delivered a sharp, athletic 6–1, 6–2 win of their own. Taylor Howard/Bea Morfit rounded out the day with a steady 6–3, 6–4 victory, sealing Branson’s most dominant performance of the season so far.


On October 27th, the Lady Bulls traveled to Terra Linda for the MCAL Quarterfinals and delivered yet another powerful team performance. Katie Warrin opened the day with a sharp 6–0, 6–1 win, followed by another strong showing from Paloma Vano-Rice, who closed out her match in straight sets. At Singles #3, Simone Schachter battled through long rallies to secure a steady 6–4, 6–4 victory. The tightest singles match came from Olivia Shekou, who dominated the first set, dropped the second, and then showed impressive composure by taking the tiebreak to complete a full singles sweep Doubles play continued the momentum. Sienna Yang/ Xandra Sebastiani powered through a close first set before pulling away decisively in the second. Talia Schneiter/Noa Schachter matched that energy with a well-earned 7–5, 6–2 win. The final match of the day was the thriller: Anna Jacobs/Kaylee Jiang rallied back after a narrow first-set loss, capturing both the second set and the tiebreak to clinch the team’s seventh point.




In one of the most exciting matches of the season, the Lady Bulls traveled to Redwood High on October 29th for the MCAL Semifinals and delivered a stunning upset over their longtime rivals. Redwood struck early in singles, taking two of the first three courts despite a strong win from Olivia Shekou at Singles #4. With Branson trailing, the doubles courts kept the team alive: Talia Schneiter/Noa Schachter pulled out a gritty straightsets victory, and Anna Jacobs/Kaylee Jiang followed with a steady 6–3, 6–3 win to even the overall score.
All eyes then shifted to the final match still on court — Singles #1. With the entire semifinal on her shoulders, Katie Warrin rose to the moment, powering through Redwood’s top player with a poised and commanding 6–2, 6–1 win. Her clinch completed Branson’s 4–3 upset and sent the Lady Bulls into the MCAL Finals in dramatic fashion.








On October 31st, the Lady Bulls took the courts at Novato High School for the MCAL Finals, facing a Tamalpais team that had dominated the league all season. Branson came out fighting on every court, pushing long rallies and refusing to back down, but Tam’s depth and power proved difficult to crack. Katie Warrin played one of the closest matches of the day at Singles #1 before Tam pulled away. Despite strong efforts from Paloma Vano-Rice, Simone Schachter, and Olivia Shekou, Tam swept the singles lineup.
The highlight of the day came from doubles, where Sienna Yang/Xandra Sebastiani delivered one of the most exciting matches of the finals. They pushed Tam’s top team to the brink, splitting sets and forcing high-pressure points before narrowly falling in the third. Though the Lady Bulls weren’t able to dethrone the No. 1 seed, their grit, unity, and resilience carried them all the way to the championship stage — and they left the finals with their heads high.

The Branson Lady Bulls were represented in MCAL Individuals Singles play by Simone Schachter and Katie Warrin, both of whom faced extremely strong draws in one of the most competitive tournaments of the season. Simone opened her run with an impressive victory over Novato’s Annah Chang, winning 6-0,6-4. In the next round she faced the #1 seed and battled hard but ultimately fell 6-0,6-0. Katie matched up against Terra Linda’s Emma Firer first and won easily 6-0,6-0. She faced the #2 seed in the second round and lost a highly competitive match, 6-1, 6-3. The doubles tournament featured Vano-Rice/Schneiter, the #3 seeds, and Xandra Sebastiani/Sienna Yang. Xandra/Sienna were victorious over the team from San Marin in one of the closest matches of the day, 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (4). They then fell to a strong team from Tam, 6-2, 6-4. Paloma/Talia started their run with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over the team from Marin Catholic. In the second round they continued their advancement with a convincing 6-1,6-1 win over Terra Linda. In semi-final action, they ran into a strong team from Tam and lost in the closest contest of the week, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (6). In the 3-4 playoff, Paloma & Talia won a three-set thriller, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, claiming 3rd place and notching the best Branson result of the tournament.

The Branson Varsity Girls Tennis team wrapped up their fall season on November 11th with a loss to Dublin High School in the first round of NCS Finals. In a match filled with dramatic tiebreakers and momentum swings, the Bulls came up just short, falling 3–4 on the road in Dublin, CA. Branson’s doubles teams once again provided the highlights of the day. Anna Jacobs/Kaylee Jiang (Doubles #3) delivered a commanding 6–1, 6–0 victory, continuing their dominant run. Noa Schachter/Talia Schneiter (Doubles #2) battled through three sets to earn a hard-fought win, taking the match in a decisive third-set tiebreaker. At Doubles #1, Yang/Xandra rallied after dropping the first set 1–6 to win the second 7–5, but ultimately fell in the third-set breaker in one of the day’s most exciting matches. In singles, Olivia Shekou (Singles #4) fought through two tight sets and emerged victorious after clinching her match in a gritty third-set tiebreaker. Despite strong effort, Katie Warrin (Singles #1), Paloma Vano-Rice (Singles #2), and Simone Schachter (Singles #3) were unable to overcome Dublin’s experienced top lineup.





Coming off their impressive 3rd place finish in the MCAL tournament, Paloma Vano-Rice and Talia Schneiter headed to Marin Tennis Club on November 10th for the North Coast Section division II doubles tournament. Paloma/Talia opened the first round with a strong performance and advanced on a dominant win over the team from Albany, 6-1, 6-2. They then ran into the #1 seeds from Marin Academy in the second round. Paloma/Talia played some great tennis, but eventually fell, 6-1, 6-1,bringing an end to the 2025 Branson Girl’s tennis season.
