When we began dreaming about the first Annual AM Golf Classic nearly seven months ago, we didn’t know exactly what it would look like. But we knew we wanted to tell a story, not just through words but through action, community, and generosity.
There’s a verse in Matthew 5:45 that echoed on my heart the day of the golf tournament: “He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” At first glance, it seems simple: God provides for all, regardless of merit. But think about that, His grace is poured out without discrimination. And in that same spirit, we give. Not because people have earned it, but because we’ve been called to be generous. To reflect the heart of God who blesses freely.
You might ask, why a golf tournament? Why not just write a check and call it a day? Why all the planning, the dinner, the awards, and the prizes? Events like this aren’t just about fundraising. They’re about storytelling, fellowship, and coming together for a common cause.
FIRST ANNUAL AM GOLF CLASSIC TOURNAMENT A ROUND OF GOLF FOR A GREAT CAUSE
Our very first golf tournament was a great success. Even as the rain came down, all 72 players showed up! Golfers came from Texas, Washington, Nevada and California to be a part of this special day. We had Bishops, Pastors, Ministers, and Brothers all in attendance.
Bishop President Felipe A. Salazar opened the day with powerful words of encouragement and a heartfelt prayer. And then, in a moment that could only be described as truly Bishop Salazar with a smile and a laugh he offered himself up to be bid on as a caddy and yes, that happened! Pastor Adam Lopez won the bid, much to everyone’s delight. That moment was a perfect reminder of the joy that comes from serving and giving, no matter how big or small.
We were also honored by the presence of National Missions Secretary, Bishop Francisco Quezada, who shared his blessing and appreciation at the Awards Dinner. His words were a beautiful confirmation of the work we’re all doing together and a testament to the importance of events like this that bring us closer to the mission and to each other.
For this year’s tournament, we were fortunate to have some incredible corporate sponsors whose generosity helped us cross the finish line. Our Gold Sponsor, Electrus Construction Inc., played a pivotal role in
$7,000 Was Raised for Nationl Missions
making the event possible. We also want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our other sponsors: Printing Connection, Kool Duck Pressure Washing, Sierra Lakes Golf Course, Tasting Spoon Catering, Apostolic Mutual, and all the volunteers. Their support made this event truly special.
Throughout the day, players had plenty of opportunities to give back in meaningful ways. Whether you were trying to get that perfect putt or hitting the longest drive, giving was a big part of the fun. We raffled off golf towels, prizes, and other golf goodies, which kept the energy high and the excitement rolling. Pastor Eddie Campa and I drove around the course, handing out cards that gave players extra benefits and chances to enhance their game. It was a lighthearted way to raise awareness, add some excitement to the tournament, and, of course, raise funds for National Missions.
The competition itself was fierce, but always in the spirit of friendly fun. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Team Prizes were hotly contested, and there were also some great individual challenges:
• Longest Drive Contest –Some serious power swings out there!
• Closest to the Pin Contest –The tension on those shots was palpable! We had 4 winners, yet only one award.
• Putting Contest –
A true test of skill and nerves under pressure!
In the Closest to the Pin Contest, we had four players who landed nearly identical shots, but only one
award was ready to be given. What happened next was one of the most heartwarming moments of the day: in a last-minute act of generosity, Brother Pierre Campa stepped in and donated three large polos on the spot, making sure no one walked away emptyhanded. His quick thinking and kind heart saved the moment and showed exactly what this event is all about giving generously and lifting one another up. The 50/50 raffle brought even more excitement, and for those looking for a little extra edge on the course, buying a mulligan was a popular option and a fun way to support the cause.
As the day came to a close, we celebrated not just the winners on the course, but the collective win for National Missions. The generosity shown by everyone, from the raffle winners to those contributing throughout the tournament, made this event a resounding success.
Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and prayed for the success of the AM Golf Classic; it was a day to remember. We’re already looking forward to AM Golf Classic 2026, and we know that with your support, we’ll continue to make a difference together.
So as we tee off this morning, I remembered: the rain falls on the just and the unjust. But it’s what we do with the rain and the sun that matters. We let today be a day where generosity shines, where joy is abundant, and where we play not just for fun, but for purpose.
FAITH IN ACTION: HOW A PASTOR FOUND HIS CHURCH’S FUTURE THROUGH APOSTOLIC MUTUAL
Written by: Elizabeth Caudillo
In Sioux City, Iowa, a young pastor with a bold vision began his journey in 2014 to establish a spiritual home for a small but dedicated congregation. Pastor Elias Samano’s story demonstrates the practical steps and the faith-driven mindset behind transforming a community church into a light of hope and spiritual growth.
A VISION BORN OF FAITH AND FELLOWSHIP
His journey started two years prior in Minnesota, where he was called to National missionary work. After serving there for a year and a half, he was called to establish a church in Sioux City. Starting with limited resources, Pastor Elias Samano and a small group of believers met in a rented space, praying to own a building that would allow them to carry out what they saw as Jesus’ mission to reach the lost, a space to live out the Strategy of Jesus and see its full potential in action.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11 In 2017, after several years of growth and continued prayer, the congregation’s rented space became available for purchase. The owner, a fellow pastor, decided to close her church and generously offered the building at a discounted price. At the time the church was still small and this seemed as a daunting opportunity for Pastor Samano, but he and the church saw this as a door opened by God.
GUIDED BY MENTORSHIP AND FAITHFUL PARTNERS
Even though Pastor Samano was ready to make a move, he was uncertain about navigating the loan process. In search of guidance, he sought counsel from a respected mentor who understood the unique financial challenges of church leadership. This mentor directed him to Apostolic Mutual, a newly
established lending institution focused on supporting ministry growth. Apostolic Mutual became more than a financial institution; he quickly realized they were a ministry partner, sharing his vision and mission for spreading the faith in communities.
APOSTOLIC MUTUAL: A PARTNER IN FAITH
Apostolic Mutual wasn’t just a lender—it was a partner with a mission to empower churches to live out the gospel. Pastor experienced a genuine, faith-driven partnership with the Apostolic Mutual team, including key members like Pastor Campa, who significantly guided him through the financial requirements.
Even when property appraisals exceeded three times the amount they thought initially, Apostolic Mutual’s team assisted Pastor Elias and the church by helping the church with each challenge with transparency and care. Apostolic Mutual ensured the church could sustainably manage its financial responsibilities in the long term.
“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed.” — Proverbs 15:22 The trust that Apostolic Mutual fostered with the church wasn’t merely about securing a loan. It was about creating a foundation of faith that would last for future generations. Pastor Samano emphasized that Apostolic Mutual understood the purpose behind the church’s mission—to establish a community rooted in Christ, offering hope and a spiritual home.
THE ROLE OF FAITH AND COMMUNITY IN FULFILLING THE DREAM
Pastor Samano’s vision for the church was clear: to build a community where members felt valued, empowered, and called to serve. This vision required more than just financial support—it needed the faithful contributions of the congregation. Through
discipleship, the teaching of tithing, and the faithfulness of church members, the congregation met the loan obligations in seven years.
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7 As they paid down the loan, the congregation embraced a deeper understanding of stewardship and faithfulness. Members recognized the building as a tool—a place where they could gather, teach, worship, and extend Christ’s love to others in their community.
ADVICE FOR OTHER PASTORS: BUILDING A LEGACY OF FAITH AND STEWARDSHIP
Pastor Samano’s experience left him with valuable insights for other church leaders looking to establish a permanent place for their congregations to live out the Strategy of Jesus. He encouraged pastors to first seek clarity in their vision and mission, understanding how a building will serve the calling of the church. He also emphasized the importance of prayer as a foundation, seeking wise counsel from mentors, and working with a partner who aligns with their faith values.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” —
Proverbs 3:5-6
For pastors considering Apostolic Mutual, he shared that AM offers something rare—a faith-based approach that brings genuine care, ministry focus, and commitment to helping churches succeed. The
experience with Apostolic Mutual went beyond financial transactions. They offered guidance and understanding, helping the church to establish itself as a visible and trusted presence in the community, leaving a legacy of faith for generations to come.
APOSTOLIC MUTUAL: MORE THAN A LOAN
Pastor Samano’s journey is a testimony of how a loan with Apostolic Mutual became a lifeline for a growing church. By securing the building, the church could establish its own identity, align its activities with Jesus’ Strategy, and serve as a welcoming space known as Centro de Amistad Cristiana. Apostolic Mutual’s dedication to the church’s success made the process smoother and enabled Pastor Samano to focus on what truly mattered: ministering to his community.
Today, the church stands as a testament to faith, resilience, and the power of community. The pastor’s words echo a profound truth: “Look at this as an investment, not just in a building, but in a foundation that can support others one day.”
As we enter this new year, may we remember and be grateful for all those who have allowed us to continue the mission set before us. With a heart of Thanksgiving, Pastor Elias is thankful for mentorship and ministry partners like AM, who are supporting pastors in fulfilling the mission of the Church and saving the lost!
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” — Colossians 2:6-7
FAQS: WHY GOOD CREDIT IS SO IMPORTANT
Credit matters when looking to buy a house, car, or any other pricey asset. Unless a consumer is flush with cash, the path to home and vehicle ownership may go through a mortgage or a loan. Good credit can provide you with terms and privileges not available to a person with poor credit, including lower interest rates and increased borrowing capacity.
We delve into what constitutes a good credit score and the reasons why it is important to have a good credit score.
KEY POINTS
• Good credit is essential for securing loans with favorable terms and interest rates.
• A strong credit score can lead to better insurance rates and lower premiums.
• Landlords often check credit scores to assess rental applications, making good credit crucial.
• Employers may review credit reports during the hiring process, which could impact job opportunities.
• Good credit can result in higher credit limits and better rewards from credit card companies.
HOW CAN YOU IMPROVE YOUR CREDIT RATING?
The most important thing you can do to build your credit score is to pay every bill on time, every time, over months and years. If you need or want to improve your credit, you should:
• Review and correct any errors on your credit report
• Settle your outstanding balances as quickly as you can
• Reduce credit utilization to 30% or less
• Limit requests for new credit
• Keep old accounts open and resolve late payments or other issues
Your credit rating is a long game, so consistency will get you there most effectively.
WHAT’S THE MOST RELIABLE WAY TO PAY OF DEBT?
The most reliable way to eliminate debt is to avoid spending beyond your means, particularly with credit cards. Ideally, this will allow you to pay your bills in full and on time each month and avoid racking up interest on balances carried over from one statement period to the next.
If you have multiple accounts and can’t zero out all of them each month, consider “snowballing” your payments. By paying off smaller debts first, you’ll see results quickly and be inspired to continue. Here’s how it works:
1. List all of your debts, from smallest to largest.
2. Make sure you can pay the minimum balance on each account.
3. Now direct as much extra money as you can each month to the smallest bill until it’s paid in full.
4. When that debt is cleared, move to the next smallest balance and repeat.
5. Continue working your way to the largest balance until all you’ve paid all debts.
