Dargaville High School

2025 has begun and we have announced and celebrated the Student Leadership Team for this year This year we have had a change of name of our Head Leaders from the traditional Head Boy and Girl to House Leader This change has enabled the students to take the lead in House gatherings, events and competitions

Our school House leaders are supported by other student leaders such as Kaiarahi Tane and Wahine along with other students, yet to be announced, as House Captains and Student Council

Representatives

Dargaville High School is excited to see how the student leaders of 2025 use these positions to support their fellow student body towards success for the 2025 school year

Quotes from the student leaders on how they fell about being leaders and their hopes for this year:

Kayla

I hope that this position will enable me to build my confidence and be a role model for the younger students at DHS. I hope that with this role I can make a difference and am able to provide my input and ideas to help our school be the best it can be.

Since 1881, Whangārei Boys’ High School has upheld a proud tradition of excellence in academics, sport, culture, and service. Generations of young men have walked through our gates, leaving with the confidence and character to contribute meaningfully to society. That legacy is not just our past it is our future.

Student leadership is central to that legacy.

This year’s leaders will uphold tradition, set high standards, and serve with dedication.

We embrace excellence ensuring students honour the past while forging their own success. Our kura thrives on high expectations and strong support, where leadership is a privilege.

MEET TE KAMO HIGH SCHOOL’S HEAD ĀKONGA

LUCIA FENWICK

Kia ora my name is Lucia Fenwick and I am so excited to spend the year 2025 as one of your head prefects

Whilst filling this role, I am taking biology, physics, chemistry, English, and calculus I hope to continue my studies at university I come from a family with six siblings, of which four of us have attended Te Kamo High in the last ten years There are two more to come During this time, we have witnessed this school change and grow for the better, and I want to continue this process not only for my younger siblings but for you all individually I want us to all share beautiful memories from our teenage years, which we all spent atthis school Out of the four who have attended, I am also the first head prefect; this is a huge achievement for me, especially since I can flex and I am the favourite

I hope to inspire all of you to work towards your goals even if you aren’t competitive throughout this year and to always care for yourselves through doing this

As a vision for Te Kamo High I want to see next year for all of you to be participating in your school life, either through your whanau activities or iwi sports I want this school to be an accepting and loving community I hope we can allwork towards this as a team

I can assure you all that Luke, Taine, and I will put a tremendous amount of effort towards you all and hope to ensure that we do a successful job at leading you guys in the right direction, whilst making this filled with enjoyment I look forward to working with all of you

LUKE ROUSE

I am beyond honoured to be one of Te Kamo High School’s Head Prefects for 2025!

I will be studying Biology, Calculus, Chemistry PE and Physics

TAINE MIDDLETON

I am absolutely thrilled to be one of the head prefects at Te Kura Tuarua o Te Kamo for 2025!

Once I complete Year 13, I’m hoping these subjects will lead me to study at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic Before that time comes around though I am so excited to work alongside my two incredible Co-Head Prefects in continuing to make Te Kamo High School the greatest place it can possibly be for the welfare and interest of all

Throughout my time here at Te Kamo High School, I have been fortunate enough to experience countless opportunities, which I will most certainly cherish for the rest of my life

I want to inspire students to make the most out of the opportunities available to them so that they, too are able to grow and develop into the best versions of themselves

One person in my life who has always encouraged me to do so, and still does, is my grandmother, who too was a Prefect As I am the first person in my family to be a Prefect since she was in the 1950s, I am eager to make her and the rest of my family proud and leave a long-lasting legacy here at school

Out of everything I mentioned, I can assure you that together as a Head Prefect Team, we will do our absolute best to strive for a productive and successful year for all, while ensuring the most optimal outcomes for everyone here at Te Kamo High School

“Whakatutuki Tikahia Kotahitanga, Together We Will Succeed”

I am extremely excited to be able to work with my fellow head prefects, Luke and Lucy, and to have a positive impact on Te Kamo High

I have big shoes to fill, as my mother was a deputy head girl here back when she went to school, and more recently, my older brother was head boy in 2022, so I intend to make them proud by continuing their legacy with my appointment

I will be taking English, Calculus, Physics, History and Music as my five core subjects, and I plan on continuing my learning journey at university after I leave school

I am an outgoing and hard-working student, and I will always do my best to get stuck in and participate to make the most of my opportunities and uplift my peers around me

I am passionate about music, and you can often find me practising with a band in the arts department

In the head prefect role, I aim to build on the foundations that previous head prefect groups have set out to ensure that Te Kamo High maintains a welcoming and engaging environment where all students are able to learn and grow to the best of their abilities

On top of this, as I was an academic prefect in 2024, I would like to continue to support the academic involvement and success of the students in our school by extending them and introducing more opportunities to strive within this sector

Pompallier Catholic College HEAD STUDENTS - 2025

To me, Pompallier Catholic College is more than just a school It is my sanctuary, it is a place of rich history, traditions, and culture which have nurtured me from a‘young cub’ to the young man I am today Over the past few years, I have truly developed a passion for building relationships with my peers My main goal, as a leader for 2025, is to reciprocate the same values of love, compassion and peace which were shown to me I feel so blessed to call our college “home” Every day is a new opportunity to inspire students to sing, take part in sports and to strive for excellence in their academics

Pompallier Catholic College is more than just a school; it’s a place where lifelong friendships and memories are made, ones I will forever cherish As a leader, my goal is to inspire the next generation, encouraging them to go against the tide and carve their own path in life, not conforming to societal norms of today; to help them realise that their potential isn’t defined by others’ expectations and they can achieve whatever they set their minds to

Seven years ago, I walked through the gates of Pompallier Catholic College, terrified and unsure of what lay ahead Slowly but surely, I found my people and my place within this family Coming from a very small school - Otaika Valley School - I didn’t know anyone, but I was warmly welcomed and embraced as if I had always belonged here Now, as a leader, my goal is to help others feel a little more loved, to make them excited to come to school each day, and to ensure they have a supportive community where they feel safe

Rose Shaji Deputy Head Girl

Pompallier Catholic College fosters a unique Marist environment that nurtures academic and sporting excellence, whilst also shaping each student into confident, empathetic, and faithful leaders who challenge social norms to effect positive change. It is a privilege for me to lead this college with faith and devotion, enabling me to perpetuate with the younger students the same passion that previous leaders extended to me As Deputy Head Girl, I aspire to create many more opportunities for students to grow and develop into the best versions of themselves. I want to create communities where students are able to freely express themselves, and encourage all students to get involved with school clubs and activities.

Principal Korero

At Taipa Area School, we highly value student leadership as an essential part of our kura Leadership is about more than just responsibility it’s about setting a powerful example and living our school values of Manaakitanga, Painga, and Mahitahi every day

Our student leaders role model these values in everything they do They show Manaakitanga (respect and care for others) by fostering an inclusive and supportive environment They embody Painga (being positive) by striving to be the best they can be and encouraging

others to do the same And through Mahitahi (collaboration and teamwork), they work together to create a positive school culture that benefits all ākonga, from Year 1 to Year 13

Leadership at Taipa is not just about a title it is about making a real difference Alongside our five

Head Students, we provide a wide range of leadership opportunities, including House Leaders and individual leadership portfolios in ahurea (culture), hākinakina (sport), taiao (environment), and hauora (health & well-being) These roles allow students to influence school decisions, mentor younger

students, and lead initiatives that drive positive change

Becoming a student leader at Taipa Area School is a privilege and comes with great responsibility

There is a structured process to ensure that students elected to these positions are truly committed to our school values and vision Once in their role, these tauira are highly valued, as they represent the voice of the entire student body Their leadership is not just symbolic it is impactful, helping to shape the future of our kura

I am incredibly excited to see how our student leaders continue to grow in their roles, developing

confidence, teamwork, and a passion for leadership Their influence ensures that our school continues to navigate together for success, upholding the values of Manaakitanga, Painga, and Mahitahi for future generations of Taipa students

Through their leadership, they are not just shaping our kura today they are preparing for a lifetime of success and contribution beyond Taipa Area School
