The Portland Business Journal has a new batch of Oregon's Most Admired Companies, based on its annual survey of more than 2,500 CEO-level executives in the region.
We'll be honoring the winners at a Dec. 12 event.
This year, in honor of the late Bob Moore, founder of Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods in Milwaukie, the Business Journal created a new individual award: The Moore Admired CEO Award. It honors one local leader each year who exemplifies the qualities most admired in Bob Moore by those who knew him best: generosity, tenacity and gregariousness.
After more than 250 of these top executives filled out the survey, the results weren't even close.
Tim Boyle, chairman, president and CEO of Portland's Columbia Sportswear Co. is the inaugural winner of this award. A longtime vocal and active member of the Portland business community from a locally historic public company, Boyle's triumph comes as no surprise. At the same time, Columbia Sportswear is again among the top 10 Most Admired Companies for both Product Makers and Across All Industries.
As always, we asked top executives in the survey to select three companies they most admired in each industry category, as well as three companies they admired most across all industries. Three points were awarded for the top choice, two points for the second choice and one point for the third choice to determine a total score.
We also modified the award categories to honor the following 10 industries this year besides Across All Industries:
