A
fter a week in Sydney I spend my life at home sweet home in Melbourne with a cold and my lovely pajamas. Sip a hot Berries tea every morning and Champaign afternoon and sits at a computer all day as I’m going to tell you, after 18 resort collections show was great and I’m lovin’it this year. My weekday holiday with work me is different to regular me. I know this because I've started packing for my work holiday and my clothes are totally different while I stay in Sydney. And also I am glad I made it to visit my lovely sister on the weekend for a Vodka sunrise. It's surely entirely impossible to argue with the idea that our holiday selves are definitely our best kind which is why resort wear is so appealing. And also why our holiday wardrobes should break free from whom those women are in the 9-5 hours. As a side note, this perhaps excludes the time you spent backpacking and had to have a ritual burning of the red puffa vest that features in every single photo taken on trip when you returned. Resort wear, which is what Australian Fashion Week is all about (and rightly so, it's definitely our natural habitat), is becoming increasingly important to the fashion industry - it's a moneymaker because it stays on the racks longer, and the pieces can be more versatile across seasons. Plus, who doesn't get a kick out of pieces that are practically like a holiday just wearing them? Or that upon packing them in your suitcase you're just about guaranteeing that you're going to 'throw caution to the wind' and also look appropriately carefree in your deluge of holiday Instagram posts. A prime example of this is the opening look at stylist Marina Afonina's Albus Lumen show at Fashion Week on Monday - a buttoned-through white linen dress worn with a open-top-car-ready Grace Kelly style head scarf. The vacation ready collection featured gently tailored pieces in natural fabrics like linen and silk, with Afonina appealing to the pared-back style of many a Sydney fashion girl. As Zara Wong put it on Vogue Australia, "Albus Lumen defines what we want to be wearing in 2017." That is, easy pieces that make you feel like you're on hols. Or could be on hols. Or should be on hols. It's a state of mind (even if it's not one's actual state) that Net-a-Porter are tapping into with their upcoming launch of holiday ready capsule collections, rather aptly dubbed Jet-a-Porter. Launching May 25 the Jet-a-Porter capsule collections mix and match designers including Zimmermann, Chloé and Attico plus new to site designers like Draper James and Cult Gaia (makers of those bamboo bags that have a cult following on Instagram). Basically it's fantasy shopping at its most fun. And just like planning a holiday can almost be as much fun as actually going on it, so too can planning out your holiday self-outfits. For me the ultimate must-pack piece is a white linen dress that on holidays never seems to crumple and upon which I never spill mojito. Just like the offerings from many designers in their resort wear collections. Enjoy the issue,

คุณ ทิม สราธิป ชัยชนะ หนาที่มากอนสิทธิ กวาที่จะมาเปนผมในวันนี้ จุดเริ่มตนของผมมันไมใชเรื่องงายๆเลยครับจากเด็กเชียงใหมที่ตองเดิน ตามลอยครอบครัว อยากจะใหเปนครู จึงทำตามความฝนของแมและ พอ ผมเรียนครูที่มหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม คณะอุตสาหกรรมศิลปหลังจาก ที่เรียนจบจึงสอบวุฒิครู เปนครูถึง 2 ป หนาที่ของผมที่ทำใหครอบครัว มันสำเร็จแลวครับ ผมลาออก และทำงานที่ธนาคารตอจากนั้น ผมคิดวา นี ้ ค ื อ จุ ด เริ ่ ม ต น ที ่ จ ะทำตามความฝ น ของตั ว เอง และเคารพสิ ท ธิ การตัดสินใจ ของตัวผมเองบางผมชอบชวยพอจัดสวนตั้งแตเด็กไปและเริ่ม หาขอมูล ดูรูปบาง คนหาและสนใจในตนไมชนิดตางๆ จุดเริ่มตนคือตอน เรียนสมัยมัธยม เทาทีผ่ มจำความไดยงั ใสชดุ นักเรียนกางเกงนักเรียนอยูเ ลย ครั บ อายุ น า จะประมาณ 18 ป ผมเข า ไปทำงานที ่ ร า นดิ น โดยมีพี่สุทธิชัย เตมีศักดิ์ เปนเจาของราน ผมโชคดีมากที่ไดอยู ณ จุดๆนั้น เพราะมันเปนจุดเริ่มตนจากความยาก ความชอบเรื่องตนไม งานสวน รวมถึงงานตกแตงภายใน ในยุคนั้นผมเติบโตและถูกกลั่นกรองในเรื่องของ การออก แบบเยอะมากโดยทีเ่ ราไมไดตง้ั ใจและเราตองไปชวยเคาสเก็ตแบบ ผมมีความรูสึกสนุกสนานกับงาน จากประสบการณตอนนี้พอไดลงพื้นที่ ทำงานจริง มันทำใหผมมีความรูสึกดีกวาคนอื่นนักจัดสวนในดวงใจผมคือ Jamie Durie ตอนสมัยผมเปนเด็กตอนนั้น Jamie เคาดังในบาหลีมาก เคาเปนคนพลิกแพลงความเปนบาหลี ผสมผสานความเปนเอเชียและตะวันออก ลงไปในการจัดแตงสวน เมื่อตะวันออกมีความเปนตะวันตกมันเปนอะไรที่ ตื่นเตนมาก การจัดสวนมันคือความชอบ แตบอกไมถูกและคือสิ่งที่เราทำ KANJI Fontana Arte Suspension Lamp Approx. $780

แลวมีความสุขมาก ตั้งแตนั้นมาผมเริ่มแอบศึกษา จนตัดสินใจอยากจะทำ ความฝนตัวเองใหเปนจริง เลยตัดสินใจในชวงชีวติ การทำงาน ตามหาความ ฝ น ที ่ ซ ิ ด นี ย ค รั บ ผมเรี ย น landscape design at TAFE Institute เป น เวลาสามป ค รึ ่ ง ทุ ก วั น ทุ ก คาบเรี ย น ผมมี ค วามรู ส ึ ก ถึ ง ความสุ ข ยิง่ เรียนยิง่ มีความตืน่ เตน ความอยากทีจ่ ะไปใหถงึ เปาหมาย จนผมเรียนจบ ผมไดเขาทำงานที่บริษัทกูด แมนเนอส แตกอนที่จะถึง ณ จุดๆ นั้น ไดมันไมใชเรื่องงายเลยครับ พอผมเรียนจบวีซาผมหมดพอดี ดวยความหวัง และอยากจะไปใหถึงฝน เลยเรียนตอ Business Management เพื่อจะได หาเวลาหางานออกแบบสวนตามเปาหมายของฝน ผมรอนใบสมัครหางาน เปนเวลาสามเดือนยื่นแลวยื่นเลาจนมีบริษัทนี้ละครับ ที่เคาตอบกลับมา แตก็ไมใชวาจะดีไปทุกอยาง เพราะ บริษัทนี้เคายังไมมีตำแหนงวางมีเพียง แคฝกงานสามเดือนแบบไมมีคาจาง ดวยความสนใจของผมเองความอยาก และความตืน่ เตนเลยตอบกลับไป ผมตอบรับงานนีค้ รับ ถึงแมไมมคี า จางก็ตาม ผมคิดวามันเปนโอกาสเดียวที่ผมจะไดเขาไปทำงานในอุตสาหกรรมนี้และ โอกาสมันไมไดเขามาตลอดเวลาหรือโชคดีแบบนี้มากนัก นี่คือ step แรกที่ ผมตองเขาไปแขงขันและสูก บั คนนับ 100 นับ 100,000 โดยเฉพาะเราไมใช คนพืน้ ทีผ่ มคิดวามันคือคำตอบเดียวทีไ่ มสามารถปฏิเสธไดและตองถีบตัวเอง ไปข า งหน า ตลอดระยะเวลาที ่ จ ะต อ งฝ ก งานภายในสามเดื อ น ผมผานการฝกงานเพียงแคสามอาทิตยเทานัน้ ครับ จากเด็กฝกงานเคาเรียก ผมทำงานฟูลไทมเลย เรียกไดวามันไมใชโชคเลยมันคือความสามารถและ ประสบการณที่เราศึกษาเองมาเกือบคอนชีวิต ดวยความรัก ความเขาใจ จากการออกแบบจัดสวน ผมตองขอบคุณทุกๆ คนที่ผานเขามาในชีวิตที่ทำ ใหชีวิตผมประสบความสำเร็จมีไดถึงทุกวันนี้ครับ ผมคิดวามันคือฝนที่เปน จริงและทุกๆ คนสามารถทำไดครับ เพียงแคมคี วามเชือ่ มัน่ และจุดประสงค เป า หมายในชี ว ิ ต ส ว นเวลานั ่ น แน น อนว า มั น คื อ เครื ่ อ งพิ ส ู จ น ความพยายามจากการกดดั น ตั ว เอง ถี บ ตั ว เอง การศึ ก ษาเล า เรี ย น และการเก็บเกี่ยวประสบการณมันเปนสิ่งสำคัญ เปรียบเสมือนบททดสอบ และบทพิสูจนของชีวิต ตอนนี้ความฝนของผมเปนจริงแลวครับ เปาหมาย ของผมตอจากนี้ไปคือการพัฒนาและทำหนาที่ของตัวเองใหดีที่สุด รวมถึง ความฝนใหมๆ อยากทำในสิง่ ทีอ่ ยากจะทำ จากวันทีเ่ ริม่ ทำงานจนถึงทุกวันนี้ เป น ระยะเวลา 3ป ผมยั ง จำและคิ ด ถึ ง วั น แรกของการทำงาน กวาจะยืนถึงจุดๆ นีไ้ ด ความเชือ่ มัน่ ในตัวเองและความพยายามลวนๆ เลยครับ
พูดถึงเรื่องการทำงานในสไตลผมแลวนั่น โดยสวนตัวของผมแลว กระบวนการ การออกแบบผมจะหาแรงบันดาลใจจากแฟชั่นในซีซั่นนั่นๆ ทุกอยางกำเนิดมาจากนักออกแบบเสื้อผาและรันเวยในแตละซีซั่นรวมถึง ชวงยุคสมัย เมื่อเสื้อผา สงผลถึงผูใส ไมวาจะดวยเรื่องแพทเทิรน สี หรือ เนื้อผาก็ตาม งานออกแบบภายในบาน (interior design) นักออกแบบตกแตงภายในก็ตองติดตามงานออกแบบเชนกันหลังจากจบ Fashion week ทุกๆชีซั่น งานออกแบบวัสดุภัณฑ เชน แจกัน ภาพแขวนผนัง หรือแมแตโตะ เกาอี้ ก็จะออกมาคลายเคียงกับรูปทรง และรวดลายบนชิ้นผา นอกจากนี้เพื่อนำมาประกอบกับการเลือกวัสดุภัณฑ ไอเดีย และจุดขายของคนออกแบบแลว ผลลัพธตอ มากคือ landscape designer ตองตอบโจทยลูกคา และหาไอเดีย สไตลและความชอบของผูอยูวา outdoor ในสไตลคุณเปนเชนไร พื้นไมชนิดไหนหรือสระน้ำรูปแบบนี้จะดีไหม ทุกสิ่งคือการมิกซและแมทช ตองทำใหตอบโจทยตัวเจาของบาน ประทับใจแบบไมรูเบื่อ เทเลอร ภวัต

Tim Sarathip Chaichana Landscape Design is a Merit Award from TAFE 2014 Outstanding Visual Communication and Artistic Expression in Landscape Design and 3rd Place AILDM National Student Competition 2013 from Australian Institute of Landscape Designers and Managers He discovered and started to explore Landscape Design seven years ago as a new creative outlet for himself. He created boutique tropical and sub-tropical gardens and sanctuary spaces in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. In order to pursue this growing passion, He took the decision to come to Australia to study Landscape Design at Ryde TAFE Institute with his experienced in landscaping, gardening, labouring and building. He is creating and generating many new design ideas every day. With his background in Industrial Arts, He also can produce hand sketches in a matter of minutes, which is not only enable clients to visualise changes to a space but also improves communication and consultation process for the client Tell us a little about your background.What path led you to landscape design? I started out studying a Diploma in Landscape at Ryde TAFE Institute in Sydney. I was then drawn to the garden through garden maintenance, and being wonderfully immersed into the world of plants and have been addicted ever since.

Fashion met architecture was in May issue last year, and this month I bring it back with the one most popular features on living column, yet for some inexplicable reason, we rarely interview landscape designers. Major oversight! Fashion met Landscape Today, we chat to Tim Sarathip Chaichana the passionate Landscape Designer from Good Manors, Sydney
If “everything exists within the landscape” then landscape architects must learn to design everything.
How would you describe your designs and what influences your style across different projects? Our aim is to provide a functional and aesthetically pleasing natural environment for the end user to enjoy and learn from. Our challenge with every space is to develop a system that works. Every garden needs fuel, good planning and maintenance. We strive to create spaces which encourage the user to walk outside, dream and relax. Whilst we aim to create beautiful spaces, we also push to program practical and functioning areas that celebrate that use of food. Garden spaces are a perfect habitat to integrate an edible learning experience. What inspires your work? I’m often inspired by travel, and by the way things work. I think it’s easy to create something that’s aesthetically beautiful, the challenge is creating something that’s timeless and useful. That means considering longevity, function and usage. Sometimes the best thing is the nature. I often think that following Mother Nature results in the best ideas, she always know the answer. Which other Australian designers, artists and creative people do you love at the moment? Jamie Durie – He is imaginative, a brilliant mind with a great eye. He has an understanding of why he is doing what he is doing. It’s so nice to see a designer who thinks about the whole lifespan of things. What are some resources that you turn to when you’re in a need of creative inspiration? I always watch a fashion show as like high brand or Haute Couture fashion show to get inspirited and its incredible creatively change my world also I’d love to spend time on the beach by myself with home and decor magazine or museum.
