THE BADGER June 2018

One day a buddhist monk came to my study, he was from Thailand, from a small village in the mountains, somebody had told him about me and he had undertaken such a long journey to meet me. In his country monks are also tatoo artists, because tattoes have magical and religious significance. He showed me beautiful drawings of animals and strange demons and gods, every drawing was accompanied by magical formulas, written in uncomprehensible letters, wich looked like a wonderful embroidery. Before leaving he gave me those drawings as a gift together with two boxes of colors (red and black) that he had prepared himself with a secret recipe using herbs and minerals from his mountains. He revealed that those colors had great power, because they made a man invulnerable: in a special occasion and only once, the tattoes made with those colors could make the person immune to any kind of aggression. I accepted the gift with many thanks, but in my heart I didn't believe him.
