TOP SEASONAL PICKS

EGGPLANT

Early European varieties of the eggplant were much smaller, rounder, and either yellow or white in color. They looked like goose or chicken eggs, hence the name! Read more about eggplant varieties on page 38..

July - October

DRAGON FRUIT

This exotic is available in white (pink skin, white flesh), pink (pink skin, dark pink flesh), and yellow (yellow skin, white flesh). Each variety is slightly different in taste, with yellow being the sweetest.

FIGS

A fig isn’t a fruit, berry, or vegetable. It’s actually an inverted flower. And each species of fig tree is pollinated by its own distinct species of fig wasp.

PEACHES AND NECTARINES

HEARTY GREENS

Also known as bitter greens, this category includes arugula, collards, dandelion, endive, kale, and mustard. Super healthy, they pair well with spicy and sweet flavors that balance their strong flavors.

Although similar in flavor, the nectarine is smaller with smooth skin. Peaches have thicker, fuzzy skin and softer flesh.
