For this component, I was put on the Communication team for Studio 204. As a team, we were responsible for creating two videos to market the Fashion Communication Marketing (Social Media) course. One video to be aimed towards conceptual thinkers and communicators that we wanted to attract onto the course, and the other being more of an informative, commercial video to easily pass on the key elements of the course. We planned to develop the outwardly facing narrative of this programme and deliver it to the next cohort of students and really showcase the legacy that has been left by past students. The two videos were to be made and shown at the launch night on July 26th.

I felt as though this group was definitely the right one for me. As I have stated many times throughout my work, I take great pride in telling a story through my work and I tend to think rather conceptually. I also work greatly with my teammate, Tess. We have a very similar way of working and understand each other's visions. So there is no doubt that we will work smoothly together and create something that we are both proud of. Within this report, I will showcase my contributions to the planning, development, production and post production of the communication videos and to then reflect on whether we worked well as a team and if we were able to succeed within sticking to and completing the brief.

Meet the team Anna Tess

“Within the Communication team, I decided to take on the role of Stylist and Sourcer of inspiration (mood boards and muses) for the conceptual video. As a team, we decided to set out different roles for each video. Therefore, for the commercial video, My role will be Creator, Editor and Sourcing the materials for the video such as images of students past work, quotes from students, stats and information etc. I thought that it was important for me for my roles to be as creative as possible as I believe that this is where my strengths are and where most of my experience lies. As a Studio Intern last year, I created lots of creative content and spent lots of time on sets for photoshoots, so I feel as though I had a fair understanding of creating content and knowing how to gauge and maintain the attention of an audience!”

Within this communication team I have taken on the roles of creative direction, concept developer, makeup artist, videographer and editor. I stepped into this creative direction role comfortably as it is an aspiration of mine after the course, and I sit in a creative visual space. As a team we decided to set roles per video, and my roles for the commercial video are sourcing inspiration, co-editor and verifier. Taking the role as editor felt like a good way to help me expand on my skills. As a team this felt better as the responsibilities were aligned with our strengths, with the reliability we both share with each other.

“As the Communication team for Studio 204, focusing on the creation of two videos to market the course to new creatives. It is our job to research and look into the most effective ways to capture all aspects of the Fashion Communication Marketing (Social Media) course in a way that is engaging and informative to display how industry focused and progressive the course is. We want to create two videos that can be viewed to guests on launch night and additionally uploaded on to Studio 204’s various social media channels. Our aim is for our videos to be new, different and exciting with a conceptual twist to leave everybody wanting to join the course! We have set out to create something tangible and future facing that can be passed on through each cohort of students to tell a story of Studio 204’s legacy to attract students and make sure that the legacy lives on.”

Arguably, the most important part of being a successful team, for us, was to set out roles based on our strengths and weaknesses. We took some time to discuss in which areas we feel as though we work best and started to come up with roles we think would be best suited for us to go ahead with taking on to get the most out of this component and to create the two marketing videos to be made to the best possible standard.

Individually, my career goal is to be a Stylist and/or Creative Director. I have experience working on photoshoots and have styled for test shoots, campaigns etc. Following this, I thought that it would be best for me to take the role as a Stylist for the conceptual video and to source inspiration for it, finding muses, styling inspiration, prop inspiration and the overall vibe, as said previously. I am a very creative individual and definitely a visual learner. I use software such as Adobe Photoshop and After Effects. With my knowledge of this type of software I thought that is was only right for me to take on the role of being Creator, Editor and Material Sourcer (Key information, reviews from students, statistics etc)

Once I had identified my roles within the creation of the two videos. I pointed out some Key Point Indicators (KPI’S) to help stay on schedule. Once I had set out these KPI’s, I knew that there would be room for them to change as I progressed through the project.

-Create Style boards and storyboard shoot

I searched the web to find creatives that inspire me and find elements that I would like to place within the two videos. I then created a storyboard for the shoot to assure that it would run smoothly on the day. This included a series of images we will take inspiration from and some annotations to help the model to understand our vision and take on the role of a different character sufficiently.

-Find and Source outfits for conceptual shoot

I planned to go to charity shops to source the clothing for the shoot. Upon reflection, I realised that the styles we wanted for the shoot were rather specific, so I will resort to using the internet to source each look.
