Stir well and quickly get your soap into the mould. If you have time before the soap hardens up, blob a little pink soap on top and drag a teaspoon handle through it to create a swirled effect.

Special effects using colour As much as you may choose to make soap for its beautiful post-washing skin feel or lovely aroma, never underestimate the importance of its appearance either. We’ve had many a request to not only make soaps in the colour scheme of shower rooms and bathrooms, but also to create marbled, stripy and swirled soaps in various colours too. We even had a request to match a football kit! There are many colouring effects that you can beautify your soap with and if you are creative, here is your chance to make soap that really stands out. Since many of the techniques require you to play around with coloured soap batter, you must make sure that you choose essential and fragrance oils that do not try to accelerate trace. One of the keys to successful colouring is to keep your soap very runny for as long as possible, so I would definitely only attempt the specialist colouring techniques with cold process soap. It’s not advisable to discount the water or stick blend to anything other than a very runny trace: you need the maximum amount of time possible to pour the different colours.
