The terrain that the competitors traverse is much tougher and the vehicles used are true off-road vehicles rather than the modified on-road vehicles used in rallies.

This rally raid attracts talent from all platforms including Formula One Champion-Jacky Ickx, WRC Champion-Carlos Sainz to Olympic Ski Jumper-Adam Malysz.

14th RAID-DE-HIMALAYA, 2012 [WON] The ‘Raid De Himalaya’ is the only Indian motorsport event listed on the off-road rallies calendar of FIM (Federation Internationale Motorcyclisme), Geneva, Switzerland. Only 12 international motoring events world-wide are listed in this calendar.

It ranks among the top ten toughest motorsport rallies of the world.

CS Santosh is the first South Indian to win the 14th Raid De Himalaya 2012.

12th MARUTI SUZUKI DESERT STORM, 2014 [WON] This was a 2200km long rally spread over six days, making it India’s longest off-road motorsport annual event.

CS Santosh won this rally, that traversed through the scorching deserts of Rajasthan (India), in his maiden attempt.

INTERNATIONAL

RALLY RAID EVENTS ABU-DHABI DESERT CHALLENGE, 2013 [DNF] In 2013, CS Santosh became the first Indian to debut at the World Cross Country Championship but an unfortunate fire accident injured him badly during the 3rd Stage. He was running in the top 10 in his class.

ABU-DHABI DESERT CHALLENGE, 2014 [10th] In 2014, CS Santosh became the first Indian to finish in the top 10 (overall 10th) in the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, the same rally that had broken him the previous year.

SEALINE CROSS-COUNTRY RALLY, 2014 [8th] In 2014, CS Santosh became the first Indian to participate & finish 8th in the Sealine Cross-Country Rally (Qatar), which is a part of the World Cross Country Championship also.

This rally is known for being particularly hard to navigate along with very long stages.

WORLD CROSS COUNTRY RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

OVERALL RANKING Santosh ended the 2014 season with an overall 9th in the championship. This puts him in the Top 10 for this year and it shows his capabilities as a consistent & focused achiever.

For someone who had a horrific debut season last year, it takes more than courage to achieve this impossible feat.
