Welcome to the 2nd Annual 66 Ranch Bull Sale The past year has been one of growth and transition for us. With our 66 Ranch purebred cows and our “first calf crop” off the Badlands Angus (Sewall’s) cows it started off a little hectic. With extra purebred cows around calving, calving flowed into breeding, breeding flowed into weaning, and weaning flowed, well…weaning was in winter because winter started a couple months early in Duchess. But with all that said we are more than pleased with our decision with the extra purebred cows. The “Sewall’s” cows fit right into our program. And I can’t stress enough, all the hard work that Chad, Sue, Dan and Page put in over the years sure transformed into a super strong set of black mother cows. Last year our yearling bulls were wintered at Sundial Feeders in Bassano. But with the extra bull calves around we figured it was time to build some feed pens right at the ranch “Again!” So we wintered our yearlings at home alongside our Two year olds running outside our new feed pens. We would really like to thank Wim, Chris, Randy and Lee for the top notch job done on our bulls at Sundial the past years. Our cows calve in April and May under ranch conditions. Our cows and heifers both are run in the same manner. Heifers only become cows by having a live calf (which of course we all know). We believe she must do this unassisted. So we select sires that we feel comfortable that will do this for us and for you. We try to choose sires that also give the calf growth right to the finished product, but on the outside of the cow. As well, we are very focused on cattle that are easy fleshing. With today’s tight margins we feel it is necessary that cattle go to work for us rather than the contrary. At the same time keeping in mind the basics that have worked for decades and remembering the advice given by our father and grandfather, Lee Beasley. A cow has to walk to water, so she must have feet to do so. And she must be able to nurse her calf without us, so she better have a damn good udder. We made the decision to hold our 2nd annual sale at Southern Alberta Livestock Exchange in Fort Macleod because of the numerous requests to do so. At the same time we would like to apologize to and really appreciate everybody who has a little longer road to our sale this year. But please, anybody travelling from our country do not drag a trailer down to haul back a bull. The Two Year Olds will be available for pick up at our ranch up to 5 days after the sale. The yearling bulls can be sent back to our feed yard (insured or at owner risk) until May 20, 2013 or $100.00 discount if bulls taken home sale day or within 5 days after the sale at our ranch. We would like to let everybody know that “If you’re not happy, we’re not happy!” So please if you have any issues before, during , or after the sale let us know and we will do whatever it takes to make things right. And at the same time if you happen to encounter any difficulties during breeding, we carry a deep pen of spare bulls at your disposal if needed. We appreciate your support and would like to continue to build our relationships with all our previous customers, and look forward to building more relationships with any new supporters. So PLEASE! Come join us after the sale for a little “Country Hospitality” Thanks from all of us at 66 Ranch. Chuck Beasley, Kelsey, Malissa, Brett and Carter Campbell
BADLANDS ANGUS
It’s been a year of change! First, our black cows have a new address and are now under the care and keen eyes of Kelsey and Malissa. Second, Chad and Sue are attempting to spend the winter relaxing in Arizona. Third, Chuck went to Saskatchewan to calve out heifers in 2012 and loves it so much he hasn’t come back. Fourth, Page and I even found time to spend a week in Costa Rica in January. And fifth, 66 Ranch has chosen Southern Alberta Livestock Exchange to be the home of their 2013 Bull Sale. We are both excited and honored to be their guest consigner with our offering of Red Angus bulls (our red cows are still available for sale). But, for our valued customers, nothing will change. We will continue to stand behind our bulls 100%. We look forward to seeing everyone at the sale for a steak, a few beers and a lot of b.s.! Chad & Sue - Dan, Page & Brooklyn
