DAVID WEEKS Funeral services were held on Friday at the Addison Funeral Home, Angola, NY for David Weeks who died on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at age 73. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan Jezinowski; loving father of Wanye Weeks, Tammy (Eric) Shaffer, Tina (Frank) Pignone and John Weeks; brother of Richard, James and Jerry Weeks; grandfather of Kaden, Hailey, Eric, Whyatt, Tookie, David, Elizabeth, Joseph, Bradley, Maximus and Nathan. David was a Black Belt in Karate, a proud Marine and enjoyed boating. CHORUS CAPTURES FIRST PLACE
Lake Effect Harmony Chorus met in Syracuse this past weekend along with 25 small, Mid and Large size Choruses to participate in their annual Region 16 Competition. This region, which encompasses Ontario Canada and most of New York State, is a proud representative of Sweet Adelines International, a world wide organization of women singers. Under the Co-Direction of Sonne Durphy and Sue Gentile, Lake Effect Harmony scored the highest
in the catagories of Music, Showmanship, Sound and Expression to earn them the First Place Gold Medal title in their respective Division A Small chorus competition. In addtion, Lake Effects’ representing Quartet “Crazy Rhythm”, received the York Highlands Novice Quartet Award! Located in Boston, NY Lake Effects’ members represent some 17 communities throughout the area, and has enjoyed performing at Community and Civic Events throughout Western New York for many years.

RUTH E. BARTLEBAUGH Funeral services were held on Wednesday at the Latimore Schiavone Funeral Home for Ruth E. Bartlebaugh of Angola, NY who died May 6, 2012. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Bartlebaugh; dear mother of Patricia (Harry) Bailey and Sandra (Clark) Smith; grandmother of four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and predeceased by one great-grandson; sister of Agnes Shaffer, Clarence Swab and the late Thomas Swab, Delores Gallagher, Clifford, John Swab, and Hazel Yackuboskey; survived by many nieces and nephews. CHILDREN’S AUTHOR VISITS SCS Joanne Landers Henry, the author of eight children’s books, visited Mrs. Kristen Chambers’ 3rd grade class last Friday. The class had read two of her books, Elizabeth: Girl Doctor and Log Cabin in the Woods, a True Story about a Pioneer boy. In answer to questions submitted by the students, Mr. Henry explained how she picked her subjects, researched them and worked with publishers. She encour-
aged the students to write their own stories and told them that when you compose a story, you can start by writing the ending first. ADVENTURE CAMP AT IMMACULATA ACADEMY
Amazing adventures await girls entering 5th-8th grade at Immaculata Academy’s Adventure Camp 2012. With a number of fun workshops and memorable visitors planned, Adventure Camp wil exercise their minds and bodies! New this year, campers can create a camp experience tailored to their interests. All campers select their morining workshops and students in 7th and 8th grade may choose to take a High School Placement Test review course in the afternoon. Morning workshops include singing sensations, theatre, art and design, digital scrapbooking, science, poetry and more. Daily gueasts include favorites Nickel City Reptiles and -new this year- Druminar, a fun, team-buuilding percussion experience. Camp runs from July 1620, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and costs $150.
