A 4 meter model that expresses encounters in that city. It uncovers a lot of stories that people do not see at first sight.

This model uses mainly recycled materials such as paper, plastic and bottle caps etc. At every junction, there is a learning experience.

EASILY ACCESSBILE FROM THE BACK GATE AS THERE ARE NO LOCKS BUT ONLY CCTV IN THAT AREA. GOT LOST AT THE FINAL JUNCTION AS THERE ARE A FEW STAIRCASES AND I AM UNSURE OF WHCH TO TAKE. SUN IS SETTING AS WELL AND IT ADDED FEAR TO M JOURNEY.

I WAS THERE BOTH DAYTIME AND NIGHT TIME. THERE ARE A FEW TIMES WHERE I SCARE MYSELF THINKING THAT THERE IS SOMETHING IN THE BUSH AS I HEARD RUSTLING SOUNDS. I FELT LIKE EYES WERE WATCHING ME AS I DO MY SITE ANALYSIS

MOST OF THE BARS ARE PAINTED WITH REALISTIC PORTRAIT. I TRIED SNEAKING INTO ONE AND WAS GREETED WITH A BLACK AND WHITE REALISTIC GRANNY PORTRAIT. I GOT A SHOCK AS IT SENDS THRILLS DOWN MY BACK.

WALKED PASS A LOT OF PLANTATION IN PROGREE; THE SMELL OF THE FERTILISER FILLED THE ATMOSPHERE. ALSO AN EMOTIONAL ROLLER COASTER AS THERE ARE ON GOING CONSTRUCTION AND SOME EXITS ARE BLOCKED.

01 SECTION 1.1

LINE GRAPH IT IS A DISTRUBUTION OF THOUGHTS AND EMOTIONS THROUGHOUT THE CITY. A DETAILED ANALYSIS ON 10 AESPECTS ASYMMETRY AND SYMMETRY EMOTIONS SOUND LEVEL TEMPERATURE COLORS SMELL OPEN SPACE AND CLOSE SPACE TEXTURE LIGHT MEMORIES

SUMMARY ON ASYMMETRY AND SYMMETRY

Throughout the slice, the city is filled with places that are not symmetrical. One example would be the construction site. The sandbags, crowd and puddles of water on the floor creates an impression of a low maintenance field.

Even when there is construction on going, authorities should keep in mind of keeping messy places spectacular as well especially places near heavy crowds.

SUMMARY ON SOUND LEVEL

There is a hierarchy of sound level throughout the city.

Places such as empty field and bars are nosier. People are seen having picnics and kit flying in the empty field.

Whereas loud music and laughter are contributing greatly to the noise level as well.

Only places like Fort Canning are quieter as there are only joggers or couples at that area.

SUMMARY ON TEMPERATURE

It all depends on my surroundings and weather conditions. When crossing places such as bars and empty field, I feel a cool breeze. Places like Fort Canning, is not as cooling as iI thought probably because of the weather.

SUMMARY ON colors

Overall, there are many pastel color in the city. Neon lightings as well. The wall murals, shophouses enhance the look and feel of the entire city. There was never a moment where i feel bored looking at my surroundings. The colors brighten up my view.

SUMMARY ON EMOTIONS

My emotions fluctuate throughout the slice. There are moments when I am being affected by the judgement around me, times when I am feeling scared, lost etc. I also witness a lot of special moments in this city. Such as people laughing, having celebrations and playing mini drinking games makes me feel happy.

I gained a lot of courage as I head down for another round of site analysis.

SUMMARY ON LIGHTS

Lights of different intensity and colors are used. I see the intention of using lightings to bring crowds in . Afterall, it is a city of chaos. Areas like Clarke Quay emphasizes a lot on using neon lights along the bridge. I see the purpose of these lightings as it attracts youngsters to drink and talk along the bridge.

SUMMARY ON OPEN SPACE AND CLOSE SPACE

Overall in the city, spaces are not utilized properly. There are many gaps where creativity can be brought into. The ratio between open and close space is 5:5. There is a balance for individuals to get closer to the nature but at the same time lose functionality in bringing more spatial quality to them.

BOLD EXPERIMENTING DIFFERENT SPATIAL QUALITIES AND COLORS IN ONE SPACE.

ANNOTATION OF SELECTED SPACE Some key aspects of why this space is used to build my model. Mainly it is because, the tunnel act as an expressway for joggers, business people, shoppers to Clarke Quay ( the central of the area)

DESIGN STATEMENT Creating something extraordinary and out of the norm is what I am focusing on in this model. A space that can be fun, interactive and beneficial to one's learning. This structure which I call it

Users will have a unique experience upon coming out from the tunnel. The feeling of change in atmosphere and color is also one of the key focus in this design. This 24 is an attempt to bring colors and feeling of mysteriousness to users.

DESIGN INTENTION My design purpose is to let users interact with these curvy elements as they walk through the passageway. Users are to experience a few spatial qualities such as Change in temperature as all these materials are made of acrylic.

See the mixture of colors. These transparency layers overlapped with each other forming a new color Feel extraordinary and unique in this space Sense of enjoyment as they interact with these pieces.

Each piece of acrylic is made up of different curves, thickness, different level of aggressiveness and colors.

FIRST ACRYLIC GREY PIECE OF TRANSPARENT ACRYLIC intensity of the color is not strong and it is aesthetic looking.

second ACRYLIC mustard yellow transparent acrylic. it is thicker than the first acrylic. it is shaped like a bowl as it is the main structure of the model. intensity of the color is strong as it an impression of a sturdy base.

THIRD ACRYLIC BLACK TRANSPARENT ACRYLIC. THIS ACRYLIC IS THICKER THAN THE FIRST AND LAST PIECE. IT IS THE SECOND SUPPORTING STRUCTURE OF THE OVERALL MODEL INNTENSITY OF THE COLOR IS HIGHER OR EQUIVALENT TO YELLOW AS THE OVERLAPPING OF TWO COLORS ARE MORE DRASTIC.

FOURTH ACRYLIC RED TRANSPARENT ACRYLIC INTENSITY OF THE COLOR IS STRONG ENOUGH TO ATTRACT PASSERBYS. IT IS A THIN PIECE OF ACRYLIC BUT STILL SUSTAINABLE ENOUGH TO ENSURE MULTIPLE USE BY PEOPLE.

these seven stories shows different way of living in different environment. it taught me to always uncover more before judging the book by its cover. the stories i have uncovered in the city taught me to be brave and to challenge myself in different environment

02 SECTION 2.0

FOUR TYPOLOGIES An exploration of spatial planning in the 4 typologies HDB BLACK AND WHITE HOUSE MALAYHOUSE SHOPHOUSE

OBSERVATION ON BLACK AND WHITE HOUSE

The space distribution of black and white house is very direct. It felt like walking down a corridor with many openings.

OBSERVATION MALAYHOUSE

The kitchen area is being separated from the living area. It is parted by a corridor. It is believed to reduce any danger hazard. The layout of the house is very direct as well, apart from the separation between the dry and wet area, the living area is more of an open concept. There are no walls from area to area. This layout promotes a lot on inclusivity.

SHOPHOUSE OBSERVATION ON shophouses

Shophouses uses a lot of peranakan elements. The vibrant colors, decoration and tiles emphasis the look and feel of the shophouse. The layout of the shophouse is very direct.

It is very straightforward. The business area is being separated by a thin partition from the living area. As shophouses are mainly used for business in the past before it revolved into a living space, spaces were shared.

HDB OBSERVATION ON HDB

I have noticed the trend on the scale of HDB becoming smaller and smaller over the years. The layout is an example of a 3 room flat. By looking at the layout, the space distribution is fairly the same.

Parted by walls at every area and the space quality makes it very convenient to users.

INTRODUCTION TO EXHIBITS

The following exhibits are creation to help kids play with creativity. These exhibits encourage children to use their senses - to see, hear, touch and smell. it is a play device for children to have fun and learn at the same time.

These variety of play exhibits gave children freedom to explore on their own. Not only it builds on independence but also build on communication skills with peers for some activities.

An interactive play wall consisting of dual coloured balls mounted on a black panel where children can create endless artworks which can help them practice their creativity and visual imagination

One main feature of the proposal is the sand pendulum equipment where kids can be amazed on how the sand can create various patterns depending on the swing direction of the bucket and how fast or slow it was moving.

WATER PLAY

This water play equipment encourages water recycling while having fun. Designed to be self sustaining during play, this water play aims to have an open ended play experience for kids. Each troughs have gate valves for easy water run off and maintenance.

A multipurpose exhibit comprising of a glass drawing with built in holder for craft materials, colourful glass panels that creates reflections, a series of texture materials and a xylophone for some music play.

03 SECTION 3.1

MINISTRY OF EDUCATION PLANS JURONG WEST PRIMARY SCHOOL CONCEPT: Taking inspiration from the school's crest, the design aims to direct children towards learning more about fruits and vegetables by providing visual impact and sensory experience. Colours and patterns are inspired from fruit sections and vegetable textures

Vibrant colours, shapes, shadows and interesting play exhibits surrounds the playground. This design is an attempt to teach children more on fruits and vegetables. Besides that, each play station resemble a fruit therefore children will familiarize themselves with the visuals.

Overall in this play area, there are many interactive exhibits that encourage children to be more proactive as go around.

Hedge maze is a good platform for children to explore the different route while being exposed to more plantation.

The ramp provides an easier access to children as they run play area. There are many planter beds and planting areas do their class assessment. There is also enough open spac hold discussions and lesson. Sensory walk and sensory wa gardening area as it encourages children to constantly be e different materials.

Creeper structure act as a shelter for children. There is also enough room for children to run around and at the same time learn more on fruits and vegetables. The drawing board can be used to conduct lessons as well as for kids to express their creativity.

PATIENT EDUCATION EXHIBITION Creating an interactive and informative panel for patients.

FALL PREVENTION THE EXHIBITION WILL OFFER TIPS ON HOW TO PREVENT FALLS IN WARDS AND CLINICS, AND AT HOME AND IN THE COMMUNITY PROPS THAT COULD ALSO BE MOUNTED ONTO THE FABRICATED WALL TO ENCOURAGE AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT COULD INCLUDE: NIGHT LIGHT, GRAB BAR, NON-SLIP FOOTWEAR, HELP BUTTON ETC.

A BRAND NEW YOU THE EXHIBITION WILL BE PUT UP ACROSS FESTIVE PERIODS SUCH AS NEW YEAR AND LUNAR NEW YEAR. THUS, OFFERING TIPS ON HOW TO EAT, LIVE AND SLEEP WELL FOR THE YEAR AHEAD. INCLUDE TOPICS SUCH AS MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS, AND DIET. MY RESEARCH AND STUDIES ON SPACES. IT HAS BEEN A JOURNEY WHEN IT COMES TO STUDYING SPACES AND GAINING KNOWLEDGE ALONG THE WAY. THIS TOPIC SHOWS HOW I STUDY SPACES IN A NEAT AND INFORMATIVE MANNER.

CURIOUS TO EXPLORE Always have the urge to challenge myself when doing site analysis. Only willing to settle for more. The level of satisfaction is overwhelming after I have sufficient of site information. Being able to explore is a kind of joy I would like to experience.

CAPABLE TO UNCOVER The more I manage to uncover, the happier I feel. Being someone that is ambitious helped me discover more spatial quality in a space. The amount of questions I asked myself in a day allows me to uncover hidden informations.

DUE TO THE RISING PRICE AND SHRINKING AREA OF hdBs, I DECIDED TO CHALLENGE MYSELF WITH A LAYOUT THAT CAN BE AESTHETIC BUT AT THE SAMETIME, LESS CRAMP FOR INDIVIDUALS TO LIVE IN.

I PICTURE A COUPLE LIVING IN THE SPACE. THERE IS SUFFIENT SPACE FOR STORAGE, A DIVIDER TO THE LIVING ROOM, AND A CLEAR SEPARATION OF SPACE BETWEEN THE WET AND DRY AREA.

SITE STUDY DONE IN BANGKOK A DETAILED SITE STUDY I DID IN BANGKOK BASED ON STRUCTURE AND MATERIALS OF THE PLACE.I INCLUDE A LOT OF CLOSE UP IMAGES AND DETAILS ON EACH ELABORATED PIECES. DOING THIS RESEARCH OVERSEAS MOTIVATED ME A LITTLE MORE AS SUCH OPPORTUNITIES ARE RARE. IAFTER NOTING DOWN ALL THE KEY DETAILS, I WENT ON TO OTHER CAFES AND TAKE NOTE OF THEIR MATERIALS AS WELL.
