PROCESS WORK AND SKETCHES
The idea of a geode is very intricate. While the shell holds the form, it’s what’s inside that makes the rock so beautiful. From our concept words, it is our strongest as it helps us communicate our overall idea and building.Through the process, my partner and I came up with many sketches to communicate programming, spacial quality and form.

A TOY LIBRARY IN ALBANY PARK CHICAGO ARCHITECTURE 371
Albany Toytopia is a toy library in Albany Park, Chicago. Through the analysis of the site and many different models, I designed this library as an addition to the lively neighborhood that provides kids and families a new way to rent and experience toys.

PROCESS MODELS AND SKETCHES
The inspiration for Albany Toytopia was derived from my site analysis and an early iteration model. My analysis of the various types of buildings surrounding the site persuaded me to design a library geared towards families with kids to provide an additional experience to the neighborhood. Through the design process, I constructed a couple of model’s out of colorful beads which inspired me to make a toy library due to the models playful nature. Coming to my final design, the beads would then be transformed into tubes to store the toys so visitors can rent them. The final program is intended to work like a gumball machine. Visitors check in at the front desk stating how many toys they intend to rent. They then get that same number of coins and go into either the toddler library or the kids’ libraries. Next to each tube is a coin slot where guests will insert a coin which will then prompt the tube to shoot a toy out.

A DIVE INTO CONCEPTUAL DESIGN ARCHITECTURE 273
Crinkle, placed in downtown Champaign, IL, is a conceptual form similar to one of my iterations created during this design process. My final model is split into three arches varying in size and function. The model imitates a museum where select arches provide a space for interactivity.

PROCESS MAPS AND MODELS
The beginning of this project was primarily focused on documenting as I made physical maps and took a site visit to the downtown area of Champaign, IL. This documentation led me to produce my photocomposition which was a room collage. I then curated multiple iterations inspired by a statue from my composition to create Crinkle.

Thubao’s house is a building located in Vietnam with a simple yet narrow and longitudinal layout. Here, I conducted a structural study for this building showing how the structure would change if it was made out of mass timber rather than its original material. The next few pages take you through my grid analysis, an analysis of the strucutral plan layout based on mass timber, updated timber floor plans, structural model and diagrams.
