There is so much happening in the world right now. We are yet in a pandemic and many individuals have lost many family members, friends, and loved ones during the year of 2020 and presently. The world literally changed right in front of our eyes. In the midst of this change, at times it appeared that hate may have been winning over love. However, love never fails!

I decided to theme this issue as “LOVE MATTERS!” I feel that it is important to know that regardless of what your situation may look like, if you remember that God is love, and that at the foundation of anything should be love. It will help lead you and guide your actions. It will help you treat your neighbors right. It will help you make the right decisions. It will cause for you to care for others…. the list goes on and on. My goal is that by the time you finish reading this issue, you will know that even when silent, LOVE is speaking loudly.

and dominion to do their work in pairs (Mark 6:7, NIV). We have been patient, we have been faithful, we have been obedient, and most importantly, we have travelled the road alone in ministry as far as God wants us to go; therefore, restoration and the union of marriages will begin to happen in greater numbers as we enter this new kingdom era. While in those moments of waiting, God will send us a modern-day Boaz and Ruth testimonial to keep us encouraged during our individual processes. In this article, I will share with our readers, Mr. and Mrs. Griffin’s journey to marriage and how God uniquely crafted every detail to design the perfect love story.

Our Kingdom Designed WorkShip Amin: We were both working and just strictly being business partners working on assignments. It was not before long that I noticed how she would walk in and capture the essence of the entire room of everyone, including me. Her conversation was different! Her determination was different. Her presence was different. Overall, she was different than anyone I had ever worked with, matter of fact, anyone I had ever met. As we continued to work together, I became more and more intrigued with her and looked forward to working with her on various projects.

This is by far one of the most beautiful, anointed love stories I have ever had the pleasure of capturing in words. As I travel the world, I am blessed with the opportunity to meet some of God’s most precious treasures along the way. I met Dr. Tori (Knox) Griffin during our 2019 graduation commencement ceremony in Los Angeles. We immediately bonded over powerful kingdom conversations and sisterhood bonding. I remember saying she is so gorgeous, yet I never asked if she was married or in a relationship.

Over the past year and half, I, along with her faithful social media followers would see a beautiful transparent love story unfold right before our eyes.

Dr. Tori: I was in a great place. I was intentionally focused on the assignments that God had entrusted me with. I had recently transitioned to Charlotte, solely being led by God, so I thought for business and ministry. I enjoyed working with him. We were a great team. Me, being the only female amongst a team of men, I created boundaries. I grew fond of having him around and the support that he always provided for me from the day I met him to present.

Although we were in strictly a business partnership, it was the way that he handled me, he was overly protective, if there was a puddle of water, he would make sure that I did not step into it. He was attentive to every detail that involved my work and especially me.

Love is all about partnership! Prophetically speaking, I know that marriage is on the heart of God and for many singles, such as myself, our kingdom mate is on the way! In the bible, Jesus called his twelve disciples together and begun to send them out two by two.

Together in unity, they had more power, authority,

Love carries much weight when determining the shape of society, life decisions, family factors, and the shape of our nation. Love is a fundamental characteristic of who God is. Everything God does is impelled and influenced by His love. So much so that His desire for us is to take that same characteristic and demonstrate it daily. Love is the connecting piece of the prize with color, race, gender, national origin, disability, age, pregnancy, medical background, and religion.

Regardless of our many different opinions, standards, nationalities etc., we must understand that we will always be faced with obstacles and disagreements in life. Our values may differ from others and that is fine. At times we may even feel that we don’t owe anyone an explanation of how we choose to defend or support or beliefs, and that is fine as well; however, we still owe them love and respect.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self- seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs (1 Cor. 13:4-5).

Love requires us to not place limitations on an unlimited action word, for LOVE is action within itself.

We have faced much within our families, society, and nation the 1st quarter of 2021 which included riots, destruction, an attack on the Capitol, division in families and churches regarding political views, without the presence of LOVE, much more destruction and divisiveness will occur in times to come.

What is the solution? The demonstration of pure agape LOVE! LOVE is selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional. Love teaches us that “no one” is unlovable. As listed in “THE POWER OF LOVE” article published by Ellen McGrath, “Love is critical for both your mind and body, it is as important as breathing oxygen into your body. It’s non-negotiable! The more connected you are to God, the healthier you will be both physically and emotionally. Love makes a difference in how we live; it carries strength and holds power. It covers faults and gets us through painful situations and circumstances. It builds and does not tear down. It is essential to LIFE itself and NO ONE PERSON can live without it. LOVE MATTERS and until we understand it, we will never give our all, neither will we be whole in the eyesight of God. In 2021, I will love the work in progress…that’s ME. Breathe and read that out loud. In 2021 I will love the work in progress …that’s me. Self-Love isn’t selfish it’s simply a state of being, being in love with your own beautiful mind, body, and soul.

Be KIND…. to yourself!

What was the last thing you said to yourself? What do you say internally when you make a mistake? What is your tone or language that you use with yourself? When you are kind to yourself, it is easy for you to be kind and forgiving to others. Keep it positive and laugh often.

Be GOOD… to yourself!

Self-Love is so important to one’s mental health and wellbeing. When you take that 30-minute walk in the mornings before going to work…that’s being good to yourself. Be thankful for the time you have and Love on yourself.

Listed are some ways you can be kind and good to yourself…. *Pray often and always take time and be still so you can hear from the Almighty and be committed to your prayer time daily. It will build your spiritual muscles. *Begin your day with positive affirmations. Take this opportunity to remind yourself of the good and all the possibilities that is ahead for you. Water your ground daily and watch the beauty that blossoms. *Be grateful and say thank you. This is so simple, yet so powerful. Gratitude and thanks will attract goodness.

So be grateful for all things and always say thank you! *Surround yourself with people who motivate and encourage you. Your energy is contagious, so keep people who are good for you and to you around. *Replenish your spirit! Make time for you! Step away even if it’s only for 5 minutes. Read a devotional and meditate. Have a healthy spiritual relationship. *Get plenty of rest! Go to bed early. If you work out, incorporate a rest day each week. It’s ok to give your body time to recover. * Pause when it is needed! Take a break when you need it. Get a massage. Take a mini vacation. *Eat healthy! Nourish your body and fuel it with healthy choices. Eat clean. *Stay physically active! Get moving!! Staying active improves your overall health. It will increase your energy and will lower your risk for many diseases. *Have fun! Enjoy life and live it to its fullest!

When you take care of yourself, you can give the world the best of you and serve from a place of overflow.

Decorate one layer at a time, go from the flooring to the table, then to the ceiling. I believe we all would like to take a seat in this gorgeous dining room! Each step builds on the one before. In the spirt of love, always remember it’s your home, therefore you should incorporate your style.

Some key things to remember is Scale, Function, and Form. Look at the featured dining room photo.

The beautiful flooring was the foundation that inspired the design. The first color selection you should make for a room if you are starting from the beginning is the floor, layer by layer.

The grand table layered on top of the solid- neutral colored rug was simple in nature but gave this dining room the perfect pairing and compliment with the other pieces.

Seating is especially important in a room and these chairs was custom designed to fit.

They coordinate well with the bold table design. This creates the perfect balance of fabric chosen with texture and pattern. The fabric and color selection for the windows distribute balance around the room. They draped the window like an impeccably designed custom dress created for royalty.

The showstopper that I most admire in this dining room is the radiate lighting selection. The two lamps in each corner anchor and enhance the gorgeous chandelier.

One last key I want to address is the importance of color in our surroundings.

Without really knowing why, many of us find ourselves drawn to certain colors and combinations of colors, and these preferences help us enjoy the rooms that we gather in love and unity.

A few years ago, while attending an event in the Greater Atlanta Metro area to support one of my business consulting clients, I sat down beside this beautiful, poised lady, not knowing her name or title, we began to communicate, then preceded to take a few selfies, and from there a personal bond was formed. By the end of the night, we exchanged contact information and that is when I found out that she was the newly elected State House Representative for District 105, Ms. Donna McLeod.

I immediately was able to see why the people from her district would want her to be their State Representative. She was personable, yet direct!

When asked what is it that represents her personal brand, she instantly said, “My personal brand is that I am a leader of integrity, honesty, transparency, and openness. People know that what you see is what you get!” She believes that individuals who are called to lead, should lead with the highest level of honor,

humility, and servitude. “I am passionate about making a difference and about having impact within my district,” said Donna.

Representative Donna McLeod did not even realize that she would become a historical figure in Georgia’s history as the first Jamaican-born representative for the state of Georgia. “I simply ran because I knew that in order for me to make a difference, I needed a seat at the table first,” explained Donna. She then began to share with me a past experience from about 10 years ago of how she along with two other African American young ladies began to attend the Board of Elections public meetings, and that after attending two of the meetings, the meeting hostesses stated that the meetings needed to be relocated due to Donna and the other ladies’ continual presence in showing up.

Politics have come so far yet they have a long way to go! America has come so far yet has a long way to go!

She has one 34-year-old daughter, Krystal, and one grandson, Greyson, who only knows her by the title of GlaMMa! In her younger years she aspired to enter into the entertainment world prior to having her daughter as she loves to dance. We took a short trip down memory lane as she shared some of her best dance moves was Breakdancing, doing the Worm, and the Wave. In that moment, I think we both told our ages as we laughed out loud. Of course, being Jamaican, Reggae dancing was at the top of her list.

She ran track in high school and was the fastest in her school running the 100 and 200 yard runs and long jumps. She is single and has been advised many times to carry an insurance policy on her legs, another signature of hers along with a big, beautiful smile.

She is one who loves life, is happy and passionate of about her works. On March 19, 2021, she will turn 53 years old, but does not look a day over 35.

Her leadership was vital in turning the state of Georgia blue during the 2020 Presidential Election and Senator’s race. It was a defining moment in American history and government as the determining factor of who would become the 46th President of the United rested on their shoulders. The entire world was watching as the entire Georgia election process and validity became scrutinized. According to Representative Donna, “Georgians recognized the power of their vote, we became empowered in that moment by standing in long voting lines and mailing in a record-breaking number of absentee votes.

This was the formula that flipped the state blue and allowed now President Biden to win his campaign.

We were proud to be Georgians. We knew we had a job to do and were focused on getting it done. Once you feel good and confident about doing something, you will see it through to the end and that is what Georgians did. We knew before and even after the numerous recounts that our numbers were solid and would hold.”

I thought it was only fair to get a little up close and personal with Representative McLeod so that the world could get to know this fairly new trailblazer coming on the political scenes in the state of Georgia.

As mentioned previously, Donna was born in Jamaica, and grew up in Canada. She is a Chemical Engineer with over 20 years’ experience in Quality Assurance Management/Engineering. She is the President and CEO of Enviroqual, LLC in which she provides specialized consulting in the areas of medical devices, food, plastics, and pharmaceuticals.

When asked what message she would like to leave with our Xcellence Community, she stated, “As a young girl in uniforms attending school in Jamaica, running around bare feet, it is my passion for life and to see effective change that continues to propel me further in my political career.

Always be passionate and lead with a pure heart. Do what you do because it is the right thing to do. Do it because you love doing it. When you do what you love doing, you are energized by it.

You will find that it feeds your soul. When we follow this formula, we are happy and committed to be doing what we love doing for a long time.”

We applaud State House Representative Donna McLeod for being an amazing leader who is dedicated to seeing our world a better place. She is a testament of the saying, “It’s not where you start from, it’s where you belong.” She clearly belongs in the political arena and is destined and positioned for a long-term career ahead because she leads with purity of the heart and love for the people.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 We live in a society and time where love is most definitely needed. It is a very powerful in demonstration. It is very necessary in covering people and things that needs undivided attention. The gift of love is not to be taken for granted or to be exploited. There is no other form of communication that can override love. In this world, the matters of the heart, mind, body, and soul rely upon love to be ministered in guiding, shielding, operating, and counseling to the broken parts and shattered pieces of what was once a whole picture of strength. In lifting this very powerful and effective action, the things that once plagued is now obsolete.

There are measures that people govern over in building our society and guarding borders that are profound in the eye of a beholder that understands that these heroic actions are steered and encouraged by more than just mere intentions. The very fact that one would place their life on the line or risk anything is all enveloped in the depths of respecting love and love ones. Sacrifices are made on a daily basis in both individual lives and those surrounding us to ensure the wellbeing of everyone involved. That is in fact the concerns and the depths of love. It is important to understand the true definition of love. It is defined in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.

It is because of this principle that love matters in the world and it is very influential in making decisions and governing how we maintain our relationships and societies, form policies, handle the less fortunate, communicate, conduct personal behaviors, obey according to our faith, govern our families, and offer concern about things that matter the most. Without it, the presence of negativity is allowed opportunity to influence where love must impact. The hope of our future involves this very important fact of knowing that without it, the world at large will suffer greatly. However, we are assured that love is present, and will always remain, because God’s love never fails, and it never will!

It will seed and grow bountifully.

Mr. Walker is what we call a “PK (Pastor’s Kid.” I am sure the urban dictionary has a definition of the term; however, I will attempt to give you my version of it.

It is a child(ren) whose parent or parents are Pastors or titled as Spiritual Leaders. In most instances that child(ren) was misbehaving and living lives quite different from what their parent’s roles in society were, especially the highly esteemed role in church.

Not only was Mr. Walker’s father a Pastor, but he was also a well-respected entrepreneur in the city where Mr. Walker was born and presently live, Decatur, Illinois.

It would appear to many that Mr. Walker came from the perfect home, however after his parent’s separated, Corey was immediately able to live two totally different lifestyles. One as a well-respected citizen by day and a drug-dealing villain at night.

It became a lifestyle that Mr. Walker became comfortable yet uncomfortable in; however, living the double life did not last long before it was exposed.

Mr. Walker was caught, charged, and sentenced to prison in the Illinois Department of Corrections. It was during these dark days that Mr. Walker began to reflect upon his past, his present situation, and then began to envision a new day for his future beyond the prison walls once freed back into society.

Viewed as a “Black Sheep,” he was determined to begin a new path in life. He returned to his roots, the knowledge, and the legacy that was being established by his father as an entrepreneur, owning the first African American car dealership in his hometown. He met his beautiful wife, Sylvia, they have been blessed to be together for 22 years and married for 14. Corey has 4 sons, Keenan(30), Jacorey (27), Jermon (16), and Jeremy (16), he has vowed to help them travel a different path from his and is grooming them to carry forth the Walker’s legacy into the future for generations to come. Each of the young men possess entrepreneurial spirits and are charting paths of success in their own individual and unique ways.

Mr. Walker is currently working on the release of his first book to share intimate details of his journey of transitioning from the “Cell Block to CEO!” It was his back story as an outcast that propelled him to start the Greater Decatur Black Chamber of Commerce in 2004. Through much success, he began to dream bigger and desired to expand his support for African American businesses throughout the entire State of Illinois. In 2015, he formed and organized the Black Chamber of Commerce of Illinois (BCCI).

As he and his leadership team entered 2021, they are excited about being on track to continue to break

Last year they celebrated one of their greatest successes which exhibits their labors of love for the community, they opened the doors of a new entrepreneurial/ co-op work center called “The Ink Spot” to assist black entrepreneurs and community members with business rental office space and trainings.

Mr. Walker will be the first to tell you that he has gotten it wrong more times that he can count; however, his love and passion for his hometown of Decatur and the entire state of Illinois is unmatched.

He is committed to seeing the economical state of affairs for the African American community and culture prosper in its greatest capacity. “I will continue to break down brick walls throughout this state. It’s not about me, but I realize that it starts with me,” said BCCI President, Mr. Corey Walker.

“The leadership that is required today is different from yester years. We are more globalized, growthfocused, the new norm today is creative thinking,” stated Mr. Walker. He understands that being a “Black Sheep” isn’t such a bad thing and has now used that rejection to propel him into a highly respected and well-recognized leader throughout the entire state of Illinois and the country. Mr. Walker said, “I struggled to know what my calling and purpose was in life until one day I realized, I am here, I am no longer searching for it, I am already walking in it. I consider what I am able to do everyday as a gift from God. He equips me each and everyday to live out what he created me to do, and for that, I am forever grateful.”

In 2017, Xcellence, Inc. was honored to recognize Mr. Corey Walker as one of our Entrepreneurial Leaders of the year. His unwavering support of Xcellence, Inc. has been critical in our expansion into the Illinois market through partnerships with both the Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce (President Tammy Fuller), and the Black Chamber of Commerce of Illinois. Through our mission projects at Anchor Ridge, I go on many adventures through the Appalachian Mountains of the eastern United States. It is some of the most beautiful land in our country, but also some of the most poverty stricken. It is a poverty not known to most Americans and reflects conditions found in most third world countries.

One day while in West Virginia, I was making a special delivery to a young man who was living with his grandparents (his father had died, and his mother was not around). Their mobile home had burnt down, and with help, they had built a small shack, the size of a storage unit.

My mission was to get a working refrigerator to them since theirs had gone out causing them to lose all their food.

When I pulled up in the driveway that day, my mind was not prepared for what I would see. The shack they were living in brought me to tears. Standing on the side of a West Virginia mountain, so remote, I realized that most people on earth would never see or even know of what they were experiencing. I knew that day, I had seen the most pitiful, unlivable home I had ever seen in person. When I found out they had no bathroom in their shack, I absolutely knew I had to do something to help. Having no clue how to build a bathroom, or even the parts that would be needed, I made a video and went to Facebook to raise $5,500 for the materials to build the bathroom. I was so nervous! What if no one donated? What if no one got involved? Then, I knew I would have to find a way to build this bathroom by myself and I had no idea what to do! What if we don’t raise quite enough money? Many questions went through my mind, but the love and compassion I had for this family was stronger than the fear I had of failing. I just knew somehow, someway, love would win.

A few days later, I opened Facebook and discovered that the video I posted had gone viral! More than 1,000,000 people had viewed the video, and more were watching. I was in awe. Our phone started ringing off the hook from all over the country from people who wanted to help build this family a bathroom. Emails started pouring in with donations, and we also got calls from many who had ordered items from our local Lowe’s Home Improvement store telling me to go pick up what had been ordered. I

was absolutely amazed! That day, I realized love was still alive in our country. I saw the outpouring of love from total strangers who wanted to make sure this family got their new bathroom.

As time went on, we were contacted by a construction crew about coming to check out the area and draw up plans for the bathroom. When looking at the property, he said that the shack they were living in wouldn’t last long and he recommended building them a new home. I was so excited but scared at the same time. Is this possible? I had no idea what I was doing, but I KNEW I HAD to do something!

We made a video and went to Facebook again. Soon enough, funds came in for us to build them a BRAND-NEW home. I had never experienced anything like it! People from every state, race, gender, sexual orientation, church denomination and any other variations of the human race had come together to help this family. That day, I understood that Love matters! It crosses the lines we have quietly drawn in the sand. In the same way America came together on 9/12/2001, these people came together as one to show that we are all in this together and deep down, we all love and care for one another.

I am always so pleasantly surprised to see barriers broken in times like these. It shows everyone that, although we may look different, or come from different backgrounds, at the end of the day, we are all looking for the same things.

Love, acceptance, care, compassion, and purpose. We all bleed red. We all need love. Love ends up being more of an action instead of a feeling. We choose to love through our actions and through how we treat others. Make it a point to go out and love someone on purpose today, it could change their life forever! We can’t wait around for the next elected officials, or any other program to change the world. We have to be the change we want to see on this earth each and every day. The world is what we, the citizens of planet earth, make it.

Homelessness is extremely difficult for adults. Can you imagine what it is like for a child experiencing homelessness? It is a ripple effect because if parents are homeless then their children are also homeless. Take a minute and look at homelessness through the eyes of a child. Half of the children who are homeless are five years old or younger.

When was the last time you heard a child cry? If you have children, you remember being concerned when they cried not knowing the problem. This can be a stressful time for parents. Now imagine being homeless and hearing your child cry. Better yet hearing your child cry and not being able to help them. Imagine being the child who is crying because they are hungry or cold. This is the reality for many families in America.

In January 2019 there were approximately 171,670 people in families who were considered homeless.

Homelessness impacts not only men but also children. It affects their health, safety, education, and overall development. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, “Researchers find that children are also highly resilient and differences between children who have experienced homelessness and low-income children who have not typically diminish in the years following a homeless episode.” You would be surprised at how these children are able to stand against incredible odds in their lives. In addition, these children have more behavioral problems in school. Oftentimes children’s behavior problems in school are a result of their horrible living conditions. School mobility and drop- out rates are also high among this group of children. Imagine being talked about at school because you are homeless. Children these days can be cruel and make fun of these children. This is the harsh reality for so many children who are left behind because of circumstances beyond their control.

When life gets hard, try to remember the life we complain about is only a dream to some people. Our worst days turn out to be the best days for the homeless. Our Kingdom Designed FriendShip Amin: Our working relationship continued to evolve and eventually we had established a beautiful friendship. I will never forget the day that we had travelled back to her home state of Maryland for an event. I had watched her on the stage perfecting her gifts in a spirit of excellence and powerful anointing, but this day it was something different as I stood in the back of the room watching her from afar. In that moment it was not about how she captured the room, but this time it was about how she had captured me and my every thought. I realized that this woman was a combination of every woman I had ever desired.

She was my friend, she was an entrepreneurial beast, she was beautiful and most importantly, she was anointed and loved and honored God with her works and her gifts. She spoke to my soul.

Dr. Tori: It was always about how he treated me and his support before I ever noticed that love had began to create a foundation within our friendship.

I was whole and complete. I had finally fell in love with myself and no longer was concerned about what others wanted for Tori, but what Tori wanted for herself. I had been previously married and carried the title of First Lady. I wanted no parts of that again. I knew God was doing something different.

The traditional church language from other men completely disengaged me from conversations and

most definitely courtship. I could tell that he was developing feelings for me, yet I was guarded. I did not want to lose me. I did not want to be distracted.

I saw him, but I wanted to remain focused.

Our Kingdom Designed LoveShip Amin: Continuing my story from that one weekend that we returned to her hometown for an event, we were able to visit some of her relatives for a family bar-b-que. I got to see a different Tori, she was fun, high-energy, and totally comfortable in her skin. It only made me smile even the more. As I watched the room, I could also see that I was not the only man in the room with eyes for her, so I did what any man would do who was ready to make his move and claim what was his, I stepped to her and grabbed her hand.

I do not know what came over me in that moment, but I know now it was one the best decisions I have ever made in my life. That moment began to shift our friendship into a loveship.

Dr. Tori: I was in awe when he made his move and felt truly honored all at the same time. My thoughts of him and I became validated in that moment. As we returned to Charlotte, we became closer and I realized he was a perfect fit; however, deep down I was still fearful of embracing it all until one day we had gone out to dinner. During our drive back, which was not a short one, I became extremely sick. I was in the back seat nauseated, vomiting in the car, and could barely

remember anything from that night, except what God wanted me to remember, and that was Amin was truly the man for me. He ensured that I got out of the car, showered, and dressed for bed, all while being totally respectful and mindful of my every need. When I finally came around, he was right there bedside and began to share with me the details of all that had happened. I knew in that moment that he was the one who God had designed and created perfectly for me. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt how much he loved me.

Our Kingdom Designed MarriageShip Amin: Everything that I had been praying for was happening between us. I believe I did what every man normally does in this moment, become fearful. It had nothing to do with the fact that I loved her immensely, it was that reason that made me pull back and go into deep thought and isolation. I will not lie; it was her who had pulled the trigger. She had a serious conversation with me and told me that she was ready for marriage and if things were not going to progress forward, she was prepared to move on in life without me. She shared with me that God had let her know that it was time for her to be married again, and that this time, she was healed and ready.

Dr. Tori: As much as I loved him, I was willing to let him go! I knew what God was saying. I want women to know that YES, God can send a mate into your life and prepare him to be the one; however, I also believe that God sets a specific timeframe for the man to be obedient to him and to secure the woman’s hand in marriage. When one is disobedient, God has another in waiting who will be obedient. During our time of isolation, we were completely distanced and focused before God to bring revelation of what was next for us.

In this moment, I had to completely trust God, and I also had to be okay with whatever the outcome would be. I made a commitment to God to put Him first and keep Him first.

On November 18, 2020, their MarriageShip was

confirmed. It did not take long before Amin said that he realized that he was enough and that he was ready to completely cover Tori in every way. “Before I asked for her hand in marriage, I had to overcome my fear of headship. She was amazing, it was not her, it was me, doubting if I had what it took to go before God as the head of our home to cover not only her, but our family, our kingdom businesses, and us spiritually.

God not only confirmed it to me, but he also affirmed it to me, and that is when I knew I was ready. He emptied me out! I was ready to receive God’s promise for me, I was worthy of God’s promise to me, she was and is my promise from God,” said Amin.

Later this year, the Griffins will be able to finally have their destination dream wedding. Delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they did what was most important to them and that was to seal what God had begun, he had personally written a beautiful love story, and had designed it in perfection perfectly for the two of them. They are the parents to two sons, Savion (24) and Blake (16). Together they operate as a kingdom couple of several businesses (their ministries) under their Posh brands: Posh Skinned and the Posh Institute. They are also Life Designers, helping people design their lives, homes, and businesses inside out through products, services, classes, and hands-on interior designing.

We learned the eight parts of speech in elementary school. I remember memorizing what a noun, verb, pronoun, adverb, adjective, preposition, interjection, and a conjunction means. You remember the drill. Most significantly, we learned that a verb shows action or expresses a state of being. Love shows action as well as a state of being.

Verbs tell what is happening.

In March 2020 I was diagnosed with cancer. When my doctor called me with the results of the CT Scan, my heart sank. For years I have been praying for people with cancer, not knowing that one day it would become a part of my journey. When I look back, I see how God prepared me for this season. He placed me as a roommate with an angel of mercy.

By now you are probably wondering what cancer has to do with love being a verb.

Allow me to share a part of my journey. I was blessed with a wonderful internal medicine physician who knew what to do when I spoke to her about what was happening in my body. She acted quickly and ordered the CT Scan. She informed me of the diagnosis. Additionally, I was blessed with a wonderful oncologist who explained a treatment plan consisting of chemotherapy and surgery. She and her team performed the surgery with precision.

The care I received from the entire medical team was stellar. It reminds me of Carl Rogers method to psychology: genuine caring concern, empathic communication, and unconditional positive regard. Love is a verb. I was genuinely supported by everyone.

I must take a step back and say from the very beginning and throughout my journey, my friends and faith community stood with me showing their loving support. I was supported by my teammates and the principals of the firm where I am employed.

Ironically, it was one of my co-workers who advised me to consult my doctor when I mentioned my symptoms. I wanted to tough it out. Hopefully, you understand why I say love is a verb. Because of all the wonderful people who supported me with their loving actions, I am now cancer free. I am a survivor!

Do you love your favorite food? Do you love going on vacation? Do you love your car?

Do you love your pet? Do you love your children? Do you love your parents? Do you love your job? Do you love your freedom? Do You love your career? Do you love your spouse?

What is it about these things that cause you to think, yes, I do love that, or this, or them? Is it a feeling they give you inside? Is it a desire to just go all out and do whatever you can for them? Or is it a mixture somewhere in between.

We all are able to say what we love, but what do our actions actually indicate we love.

If you were given an assignment to follow someone around for a year and they were totally invisible to you. What report would you have given them regarding their day-today actions? What would the report say about who or what that individual loved?

Have any of you ever felt or said, “If you loved me, you would not have done that to me or said that to me?” During this COVID-19 pandemic, one of the things being stuck in our homes has done, it has tested our love for each other. When tempers have flared, when things were not done in the manner expected, or when you realized that some of your loved ones and family members are a lot lazier that what you ever knew, did you continue to exhibit LOVE or did you withdraw and exemplify negativity?

It is in these times that we need to remember what love truly is. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV) 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

Therefore, in the future when faced with the ability to build up or tear down! Choose to BUILD! In addition, Choose to LOVE and continue to exemplify a love that no man nor nothing has ever given us, and that is the true and authentic LOVE that can only be given by God. As I walked out of the house, the ring was tucked in my underwear, fully covered by my sweatpants. Nervous and excited, I waited on the side of the house, out of view, as the DJ began introducing me to the judges and spectators. My music began and it was showtime...

It was June 25, 2017, and the Muscle by Russell Hard-Body Contest was in full effect and it was my spotlight. My clients were there, the judges were present; my mom, my girlfriend’s mom and her kids were both there and no one knew what was about to happen, including me. Yet I was prepared if the moment became right.

As I was posing and flexing to my song by Wale, “Matrimony,” the moment became exactly right. I tore off my blue and white pants, yet the bulge of the ring box was still undetected. I grabbed a chair and placed it in the middle of the stage and walked towards my then girlfriend, Danielle. I walked her to the chair from her seat away from the kids and placed her center stage. I then turned my back to her and pulled the ring box out of my underwear.

I walked over to her mom and showed her the ring. She was shocked, yet in full support of what was transpiring in real time. I showed the others there the ring and walked back to my girl sitting there so beautifully in the spotlight; got down on one knee and asked her the question, “Danielle, will you marry me?” There I was in my underwear in front of her mom, my mom, her kids and all the other guests attending the event asking my special girl to become my wife. It was an amazing and unforgettable moment. Of course, she said “YES,” and this is how the GooDTLife Team was officially created and has been bountifully thriving ever since. Love can be defined in so many ways of expression. Lets Talk about our Abba Daddy. His love for us is so unconditional, beyond of understanding in our minds. Hating sin but loving us. Yes Love matters, love matters so much that on this day of January 15, 2021 I took a friend to her doctors appointment. I stayed in the car at a major name hospital. Where I was parked it was near a emergency door where patients were coming to and from. I took the time to pray for each passing bye. Yes LOVE MATTERS. During this time of Covid-19 pandemic we as a people need each other. If only each patient knew that someone was praying for them from a distance, to sick to pray for themselves. Yes Love Matters. Isn’t this just like our dad, to hear and see the joy and pains of life, to always meet us where we are.

Dr. Rose Parker is a modern-day Rosa Parks. It was not that she refused to get up out of her seat on a bus, her social justice fight was that she refused to give up on life. As a result of her private fight behind the bars of a state of California prison system, a fight for her life became public for the world to see. On December 7, 2000, her story sent shockwaves through national media outlets when she made history as the first woman to be released from serving a 27 year to life prison sentence for murder of her ex-boyfriend through (self-defense) was granted by former California Governor, Gray Davis.

Our interview took place just a few weeks after Dr. Rose celebrated her 20-year anniversary date of being released from prison. Although she has been free now for over two decades, she has spent the last twenty years committed to saving other women. Her life story became her life’s mission. Shortly after her release from prison, she founded her non-profit organization, “Saving Our Women International.”

The organization’s primary goal is to rescue women from domestic violence. Through workshops, conferences, and family crisis management seminars, Dr. Rose is accredited with being a lifeline for many women who would still be entrapped in dangerous, life-threatening living conditions without her organization’s support.

As we discussed what was most pressing on her heart twenty years later, she discussed the alarming increase numbers in domestic violence since last year’s COVID-19 crisis. Many families were forced into quarantine and isolated away from society. In that moment, many women who were already in unhealthy relationships experiencing domestic violence on a regular basis changed overnight to become even more traumatic. The numbers are displaying a clear picture of what is happening behind closed doors. “I am committed to doing Health & Wellness Checks for our women and families in this moment,” said Dr. Rose Parker.

She holds several degrees: Honorary Doctorate in Divinity, Honorary Doctorate in Theology, and earned Dual Doctorate in Christian Education and Counseling. When asked what one thing the world doesn’t know about her, she said, “I am actually shy.” I was only shocked temporarily because the moment she opens her mouth, her passion is like a lioness roar; however, I realize that over the years of conducting interviews that God chooses and uses those with peculiar characteristics to become his mouthpiece and masterpieces in the earth.
