FOUNDER'S STORY
It began as a hobby, turned into a business, and has remained a passion.
Anecdote Candles is my “accidental business.” After realizing that the commercially-made candles dispersed throughout my apartment were the culprit of my migraine headaches, I got curious about the anatomy of a good candle. It took just a few weeks of research and experimentation for me to become fully obsessed with the art and science of candle making. Exploring fragrance combinations took me on an unexpected walk down memorylane. Amber was warm and luminous, much like the mid-century modern decor in my grandmother’s living room. Fig seemed calm and orderly, just like a satisfying day of adulting. Oddly enough, lemongrass immediately prompted memories of the one
day I tried to take a Pilates class (and all the girls in color coordinated workout gear who enthusiastically took a seat in the front row while I sat in the back). This marked the genesis of Anecdote Candles: a hobby that turned into a business and has remained a passion. Within the first three years, production moved from my kitchen to a 200 square-foot studio to a 10,000+ square foot studio where our small, dedicated team hand-pours thousands of candles a day. Our products are carried in more than 300 indie boutiques across the country as well as many national retailers, and we have no plans to put this flame out anytime soon.

Inspired by personal recollections and cultural trends, each candle is designed to be a conversation piece. Our aesthetic is modern and playful, but we take quality seriously. All candles are hand-poured in the USA using natural ingredients with no additives, dyes, or preservatives.
Our coconut-soy wax blend, cotton wicks, and premium phthalate-free fragrance oils create a clean burn and powerful scent throw.

Minimum order quantity 6 of each vessel/fragrance combination. Candles will not be shipped until payment has been received.

LEAD TIME
The current turnaround time is usually 5–10 business days (excluding shipping), but we will always let you know if things are available sooner. Orders of more than 100 candles may require more lead time.
SHIPPING & DELIVERY
Most orders are shipped from Brooklyn, NY. If you are a national retailer with multiple distribution centers or ordering over 500 candles, we may ship from an alternate distribution center.
Tracking information will be provided upon shipment. We ship most orders via UPS or FedEx Ground, which can take up to five business days for delivery. Let us know if you have a preferred shipping carrier. International customers are responsible for duties and taxes. We ship via UPS with a discounted rate.
GENERAL RETURN POLICY
We do not have a buy-back program, and any return or exchange requests are subject to approval. Please inspect all shipments immediately upon arrival. Claims must be reported within seven days of delivery.
