To ensure optimal output from your &Tradition lamp, we have provided a comprehensive overview of recommended light bulbs for each product.
The light bulbs have been selected based on the following requirements: colour rendering index, energy efficiency, lifespan and shade cast.
The definition of the amount of light emitted from the light source. The higher the number, the stronger the light emitted.
Since the phasing out of halogen and incandescent light bulbs and the introduction of LED bulbs, lumen is a precise way to indicate the amount of light emitted.
LED Energy efficient with a long life-span. No warm up delay and good colour rendering index. Wide range of dimmable LEDs.

Good colour rendering index with a shorter life-span.
Light Bulb Equivalence
When purchasing new light bulbs, we recommend looking at the lumen and not the wattage indicated. In addition, please be aware that two light bulbs with the same wattage can still have a different lumen.
For all &Tradition lamps, a Light Measurements PDF can be downloaded that shows the light efficiency, light quality, colour temperature etc. of each design.
A wide range of &Tradition lamps can be dimmed using built-in dimming systems. For all pendants and wall lamps using retrofit light sources, both the 1-10V and DALI systems can be used. These require a converter that can be bought separately. Converters require 4 wires and should be installed into a wall or ceiling by a qualified electrician.
Please note that &Tradition has only tested 1-10V and DALI dimming systems and therefore cannot advise on other systems that may be better suited to each lamp.
For dimmable light bulbs, please look at the ‘Dimmable’ row in the overview to see whether it is listed as dimmable or not.
If in any doubt, please contact a qualified electrician to ensure installation is carried out correctly.
Watt
The energy consumption of the light bulb. Previously, this indicated the amount of light emitted from the bulb, however with new LED light bulbs, it is more correct to indicate this by lumen.
Lumen
The total amount of visible light emitted by a bulb. The higher the lumen number, the higher the light output or brightness.
Kelvin
The colour temperature of the light emitted by the bulb, determining whether it appears warm, neutral, or cool. The higher the number, the colder the light.
Lifetime (hours)
The lifetime of the light bulb measured in hours. Considering an average use of 3 hours a day or 1,000 hours a year.
Indicates whether the light bulb is dimmable or not.
Lifetime on/off
How many times the light bulb can be turned on/turned off.
Ra
Colour rendering index. This shows the light bulb’s ability to reproduce colours true to life. The higher the number the better colour rendering. We recommend choosing a light bulb with a minimum CRI of 90.
