VERNACULAR

I’ve always been obsessed with miniatures and model making. In the spring of 2023, I had the opportunity to take part in a studio led by Drawing Architecture Studio, finally being able to realize a dream. In this project, we were tasked with venturing out into the city of Syracuse, and find unique “not designed” buildings. Through model making and scroll drawing, we tied each of these buildings into a narrative that tells the story of a facet of Syracuse. The final exhibition was titled “A Little Bit of Syracuse”

These series of maquettes are meant to capture and study the natural beauty of architecture without architects in Syracuse.

This was one of the most enjoyable studios for me. I discovered my passion for model making and “miniature” work. This studio allowed me to express my passion for detail work and historical documentation.

MOREMODELS

I’ve always loved working with my hands and crafting things. I try to never laser cut my models, mostly using hand cutting and painting instead. The pink models were a set of “radical multi-family housing proposals.” The next were models of some interesting buildings in my home town, memorializing them in an art piece. The last photos were a set of light studies I did with some models I made.
