Our Journey As of July 1, 2013, Andean Collection will have officially transcended its Andean roots. We are thrilled to be rebranding with a new name, Faire Collection, which reflects blockbuster expansions in both our product offerings as well as in the geographic scope of our responsible and fair trade sourcing practices. As a leading fair trade lifestyle brand, Faire Collection has developed a proven and innovative model to put artisans on a path to prosperity. With this global expansion, Faire Collection will be adapting this model to bring more success to artisans around the world. The new Faire Collection now works with 117 artisans in Vietnam, Peru and Swaziland, in addition to expanding its original operations in Ecuador to 108 artisans for a total of 225 artisans worldwide. In 2008, Andean Collection was founded to bring sustainable change to impoverished communities in South America. The inspiration for Andean Collection first took root when Founder and CEO, Amanda Judge, was conducting field research for a Masters’ thesis on poverty reduction strategies in rural South America. After analyzing the different streams of household income in the rural communities, Amanda concluded that the biggest opportunity for sustainable economic growth was in jewelry making. Not only did Ecuador have a long, rich history of handcrafting jewelry out of rainforest seeds, but there was also a global demand for well-made, one of-kind pieces. The research also showed that access to the global market was crucial to reducing poverty in these areas. The project, which was initially intended to result in an academic paper, served as the business model for the original Andean Collection, now known as Faire Collection.
