Brooklyn, New York (January 15, 2013) -Andean Collection, the chic and sustainable accessories brand, has launched the Bella Vista line, featuring retro-inspired designs, bold color combinations and new materials, including batik from Swaziland. Designed in New York City and handcrafted by Ecuadorean and Swazi artisans using seeds from the rainforests of South America, as well as upcycled bullhorn, sisal and cotton, Andean Collection’s Bella Vista line evokes 1970’s vogue. “Each season we challenge ourselves to design fresh looks for the modern woman,” says Andean Collection Partner and Director of Business Development Bria Bergman. “The Bella Vista line is a reinterpretation of the 1970’s fashion scenes of New York City, Paris and Madrid.” This nod to the past is evident in the Manabi Necklace (retail $84), a chunky statement piece made from lightweight tagua and pambil seeds that naturally recalls vintage bakelite. Primary colors are paired with neutrals bringing a simple symmetry to this striking necklace. The foundation of the Bella Vista line’s retro-inspired color palette is ivory, peppered with bright pops of lemon, bluebird, coral, sea green and navy. These eye-catching color combinations are evident in the sleek geometric Empire earrings ($39 retail), as well as the two-toned Isabella Necklace ($46 retail), a playful interpretation of Andean Collection’s best-selling Galapagos Necklace ($98 retail). The line’s showcase piece is the Bolero necklace ($125), an elegantly tiered collar of hand-carved bullhorn with natural tagua and wood accents. This geometric showstopper can be paired with the sleek bullhorn and wood Raya earrings ($34 retail), the oversized Sierra Cuff, handcarved from upcycled bullhorn ($64 retail), and complimented with the slender Plaza Stackable bullhorn rings ($14 retail). For its debut line of handcrafted Batik Mamba bangles (retail $17), Andean Collection sojourned to Swaziland and partnered with an artisan workshop specializing in the ancient dying technique. “We love experimenting with traditional techniques and materials and are thrilled to be collaborating with this group of female artisans,” says Andean Collection founder Amanda Judge. “Not only does it open the doors to exciting design possibilities, but it opens the door to new social partnerships across the world. This line of Batik bracelets is just the first in a long line of new pieces and global partnerships. Stay tuned!” The Bella Vista line is now available at: www.theandeancollection.com As well as in over 2,000 locations around the globe.
